Publisher's Summary
It's the Christmas season and veterinarian Kate Turner is not feeling very jolly. She's overworked, unappreciated, and dealing with two dissatisfied clients. Throw in a very complicated personal life and Kate's definitely got a case of the holiday blues.
To make matters worse, Kate's ex-boyfriend, Jeremy, is mugged and robbed after they have a heated argument in the hospital parking lot. Then, two of her dissatisfied clients turn up dead (which really gets Kate's tinsel in a tangle). All of these events seem like coincidences, but they add up to something much more venomous.
Saddled with Murder is a cozy holiday mystery from beloved author Eileen Brady that explores the fragility and resiliency of animals and humans whose trust has been broken, and will keep animal-loving audiences riveted until the last moments.

love it!
I have enjoyed all of her DVM stories, but this is my favorite ❤️ well worth the price . Also, for some of the older listeners there is no explicit sex or cursing. Kate is a role model for young women. Also, the narrator has a great voice and is a joy to listen to.

Brady Does It Again !
In her fifth book in the Dr Kate Turner veterinary murder mystery series, Eileen Brady brilliantly and eloquently continues to give us an inside look into the life of a veterinarian whose life has become much more than vaccines and house calls. Captivating, intriguing, suspenseful... I’m more amazed after each book. Looking forward to her next !

Slow pace.
All in all it is a good story. The performance was terrific. However, I just find that the stories in Brady's books drag a lot in the middle. You really find yourself saying, "come on, get on with it." I may listen to the next one in this series, simply because I curious about the heroine's job security. And NO, I wouldn't listen to it a second time.

I DO LOVE THESE CHARACTERS. KATE IS A STRONG INTELLIGENT WOMAN WITHOUT GIVING UP HER FEMININITY. THE ANIMALS AND THEIR OFTEN QUIRKY HUMANS ADD A WHOLE LEVEL TO THESE BOOKS. THIS BOOK HAD A NUMBER OF RED HERRINGS TO KEEP THE INVESTIGATION INTERESTING, AND KATE'S PERSONAL LIFE IS DEVELOPING IN SEVERAL WAYS. I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK.

good whodunit
social-media, snow-season, verbal-humor, veterinarian, animal-hospital, animals, family, friendship, relationship-issues, cozy-mystery, amateur-sleuth, animal-rescue, animal-welfare, spin-off-series, small-business, small-town, rural****
A little longer than it needed to be, but a good whodunit nonetheless. This appears to be the first in a spin-off series and after reading the next one courtesy of NetGalley, I went and bought this one in audio.
Fun at a work Christmas party became embarrassing when it went viral on social media. Dr. Kate made reference to certain irascible clients who she wished would just disappear. But then they did. Permanently. No longer funny, and of questionable cause, it was time to do some amateur sleuthing. The storyline was solid, the characters memorable, and the info about various breeds and domestic animals was great. Really worth the credit.
Voice actor Caroline Shaffer has a pleasant voice and nice delivery.
