Publisher's Summary

“Whether making my heart melt or my head burst into flames, Annabeth Albert draws the reader in and keeps them captivated.” (Gay Book Reviews)

The sexy Navy chief and his best friend’s adorkable little brother....

It’s petty, but Naval Chief Derrick Fox wishes he could exact a little revenge on his ex by showing off a rebound fling. His submarine is due to return to its Bremerton, Washington, home base soon and Derrick knows all too well there won't be anyone waiting with a big, showy welcome.

Enter one ill-advised plan....

Arthur Euler is the guy you go to in a pinch - he's excellent at out-of-the-box solutions. It's what the genius music-slash-computer nerd is known for. So when he finds out Derrick needs a favor, he’s happy to help. He can muster the sort of welcome a Naval Chief deserves, no problem at all.

Except it is a problem. A very big problem.

When Arthur’s homecoming welcome is a little too convincing, when a video of their gangplank smooch goes enormously viral, they're caught between a dock and a hard place. Neither of them ever expected a temporary fake relationship to look - or feel - so real. And Arthur certainly never considered he'd be fighting for a very much not-fake forever with a military man.

Boring

Albert’s Out of Uniform series is my favorite and I have listened to all the books many times. I was excited about this series and looking forward to this book but, sadly, it’s just boring. The characters remained 2 dimensional and there was artificial obstacles keeping them from being together. This whole book read like a very poor rough draft of one of the books in the Out of Uniform series. Very disappointing!

Swoonworthy!!

I don’t think I can describe how much I loved this book! Derrick and Arthur are one of my favorite couples. They bring out the best in each other. Ms. Albert did a wonderful job showing all the different dynamics in Arthur’s family. The narration was absolutely perfect! I just really enjoyed everything about this book. I hope the next book will be Calder’s. As a last note…. Best cover ever!!

Another fantastic military romance

Some authors end up very formulaic when they write a theme or sub-genre a lot - but not this one. The story is deep and well told, without being too dramatic or feeling like something I've already read a million times. I would have liked it to be a little bit longer - but it didn't feel rushed or slapped together.

Great audio, as usual

It's Annabeth, Joel and Greg... what more can I say. The story was equal parts funny & poignant and the narration brought the story to life. Highly recommend.

good grief 😔

3 hours of this book was all I could take. Couldn't couldn't bear another chapter from Joel. I'm sorry, the voice just did not fit the character or what was written about him. No more Joel Leslie for me.

Great book odd voice

I loved the story and I love it Greg’s voice when he reads a book however Joel Leslie was very nasally with his character and it was detrimental to the story.

Enjoyed this story a lot.

Listening to Joel Leslie and Greg Boudreaux was just sexy. This story was great. Love the family camp set up as well as the fake fiancé troup. These two adorable.

Good book

This book was good, not excellent. I enjoyed the dual narration from Greg and Joel. They both did a great job. The story lacked something for me. Maybe it was the over the top family secondary characters or the VERY insta-love between the 2 MCs. The insta love seemed very forced and disconnected at times. Almost like one military MC was totally into the other guy, and the other guy was sometimes like "meh". I will listen again at my leisure, but not right away. I would recommend.

Loved the story

I listened to the audio of this book and not only was the story great but the narration was wonderful.

I really enjoyed this fake boyfriends to real lovers story. Derrick is Caldor’s best friend and he needs help with staging a huge welcome home kiss in order to undermine another sailor on the ship who is now with Derrick’s cheating ex. Calder contacts his younger brother Arthur (who secretly had a crush on Derrick when he was younger) to pose as Derrick’s boyfriend and set up a great welcome home kiss. All goes according to plan until Caldor and Derrick’s parents are there and invite Arthur’s “new boyfriend” Derrick to the upcoming week long family reunion. Clearly we see where this is going.

The story is sweet with some nice give and take by each character. There were a couple points I was in tears as the feelings being discussed were so heart wrenching. The ending is sweet and I look forward to the next book in the series which this book seems to indicate will be about Caldor.

Overall the performances were great and I especially enjoyed Joel Leslie’s narration. There were a few time throughout where it was hard to differentiate which character was speaking as the voices became very similar. I noticed this more often with Boudreaux’s narration. It didn’t really detract too much from the story as I could catch back on fairly quickly.

Nothing special

Too much family, lack of military, drama and angst. Well read. Completely forgetable fluff.

Sounds of love

Greg Boudreaux and Joel Leslie both did a great job in bringing both Derrick and Arthur.
I am not always a fan of fake boyfriends, but this was a good one it also is a brother of bff story.

This fake boyfriend kissing scheme would just be a hoax organised by Calder, Derrick his best friend and colleague who has a brother Arthur who will play along.to make Derick his ex jealous.

However Derrick and Arthur have proper chemistry and have to deceide what to do, let this develiop further or let ot go.
This was a sweet listen with likeable characters who felt justvrught for one another.

A match made in heaven

This book is everything, between the author an narrators you couldn’t ask for more(well I could another book. I’m hope this is a series) I really have nothing else to say but this audio is perfection!
