Publisher's Summary

A summons by the king turns Ayrion’s life upside down.

He’s being conscripted into the Lancer Corps...and it couldn’t have come at a worse time.

Just as Ayrion’s priorities are involuntarily split between the Elondrian Lancers and his tribe, Noph - the notably cunning chief of Sandstorm - calls for a secret meeting between himself and Hurricane. The outcome of that meeting forces Ayrion, Reevie, and Sapphire to make a decision that will not only affect their role within the tribes but will test the true strength of their friendship.

Whether they can survive the transition will hinge on which choice they make.

This is one AMAZING book series!

I highly recommend you read/listen; I did the former, to this series. Never a dull moment, amazing and perfect character building! Makes you feel like you’re in the middle of it all! I am so sure many of us can relate to so many different characters!! The narrator Mr. Tim Gerard Reynolds, as always, becomes an intricate part of the story! His voice, intonation and rhythm are what finishes making this book superb! Bravo to both the author and the narrator! Bravo!

Book 4

Again a great story. I love all the character details and emotional details. All the thought into the behind stories. You will find no other author who writes like this. I can't wait to listen to the next book. I also love the Tim the reader. He does the voices very well. I would recommend this book.

Fun story

Michael Wisehart is doing a good job of building these stories together end apart. It is fun to read a series that is a prequel at the same time I am reading a series that is the current time. He is good at building the characters and going beyond just the fighting but teaching the reader about his world.

Best one yet!

Easily my favorite in the series so far! I’ve enjoyed listening to the series so much! The only unfortunate thing is that I wait a month for my credit and then finish the book in a day and a half XD

To write a lasting series...

First make the primary characters interesting so the reader will get invested in them. Then in subsequent books, keep them interesting and build on the story by expanding the cast to include others and create plot-arcs that are thrilling, humorous at times, and keeping them fresh by refusing to descend into repetition. To make a good audiobook version, get a top tier narrator to tell the tale.

Michael Wisehart is is very good at this and it shows in Book 4. It seems, though, that Book 4 may be the end of the series in that most, if not all, the loose threads have been covered and taken care of.

Tim Gerard Reynolds provides another excellent telling of this story.

Very good

Very good book just had a lot of stuff that didn’t really lead to any pay off in this book that was out of what is expected. I find myself either feeling annoyed with the original cast or not even really having them present in the book. Additionally ayrion never goes all out once in this entire book leaving me in a constant state of waiting as he he continues to internationally lose, hold back, or underestimate himself. All that being said this was a fantastic book that I found no other real flaws with. I would definitely recommend it

I want more

The link from this series to The Aldoran Chronicles is nearing completion. I am looking forward to learning how Ayrion becomes Captain of the guard, what happens to his co chiefs and sandstorm, how Red gets her position, and what happens to Mouse.
