This program is read by award-winning longtime series narrator, Grover Gardner.

"Listening to Grover Gardner narrating a David Rosenfelt novel is like sliding into favorite slippers at the end of a long day: One feels the joyful gratification of a perfect fit."—AudioFile Magazine on Bark of Night

Lawyer Andy Carpenter and his humorous investigating team return in Santa's Little Yelpers, the next Yuletide mystery in David Rosenfelt’s bestselling series.

'Tis the season in Paterson, New Jersey: Lawyer Andy Carpenter and his golden retriever, Tara, are surrounded by holiday cheer. It’s even spread to the Tara Foundation. The dog rescue organization, not used to having puppies, has their hands full with a recent litter. Eight puppies are a lot to handle, and Andy is relieved when his co-worker Chris Myers agrees to foster them.

Myers, a newer employee at the Tara Foundation, did time for a crime he swears he didn’t commit. When Myers discovers a key witness against him lied on the stand, he goes to Andy to ask for representation in getting the conviction overturned. Myers thinks they can have this wrapped up by Christmas, no problem.

But when the witness is murdered, and Myers is arrested for the crime, things go from bad to worse. Suddenly, it’s all elves on deck to make a list and check it twice, so they can prove Myers is innocent.

Great series to Cozy Up With!!!!

This is such a good series. I wouldn’t call it a cozy mystery but this is a series to cozy up with. Andy is an attorney who hates practicing law. Yet he will give his services away for free to people who are deserving and can’t afford. There’s Andy’s tough ex-cop wife Lori who always has an uplifting albeit sarcastic comment at the ready. Tara, Andy’s golden retriever who listens to his ramblings without saying a word. And finally there’s Marcus, Lori’s friend, Andy’s sometime bodyguard. Marcus is massive with an appetite to match. Yet so quiet on his feet you’ll never hear him coming. This guy takes down four thugs without breaking a sweat.
This books in this series are all standalone. I would suggest listening in order as relationships are made, Andy and Lori marry somewhere around book 17 or 18, characters come and go. The series is well worth spending time with.
Grover Gardiner is such a talented narrator who I wish would narrate more books in this genre. He is the voice for the entire series.
This book (actually all 26 books so far) have my Very HIGHEST RECOMMENDATIONS.

Rosenfelt is far and away my favorite author. His plots are creative, his characters compelling and his humor always makes his books fun to read! This book is no exception! Unputdownable! Read and enjoy!

Please, no more Christmas themed stories

Perfectly written and narrated Andy Carpenter story. The ending was a bit rushed, but okay. These stories can’t be published fast enough for me. I was happy that most of the regular main characters and supporting characters were present. The senior citizen group was missed but really not needed. Looking forward to seeing Chris to become involved as an assistant lawyer to Andy and working at the Tara Foundation. Titles of the Christmas themed books are cute but faithful fans and readers know that Laurie plays Christmas music beginning in October. Perhaps a story about a trip to Disney World or Edna’s wedding. Maybe Andy’s landlady has an issue that Andy can help with. Willie and his wife have relatives that might need help. Let’s just get out of cold snow and holidays.

Fun read

I enjoyed Andy Carpenter stories. They are pretty much all the same story line anymore. But I love listening to Grover Gardner.

Couldn’t put it down

So far I’ve read all of the Andy Carpenter books, and this one was one of my favorites. The way they wrapped up the story in the end was just totally awesome. Can’t wait for the next installment.

Characteristically Funny.

Andy is working again, “Retirement Smirement”, nobody but Andy wants it. This series does follow a formula in style and plot line, but I always have lots of chuckles at the antics of the characters. Andy Carpenter’s series is an auto download for me. I feel like Sebastian is my type of dog. And as always, I love the narrator.

Andy another outstanding Xmas

We have listened to all of Andy’s retirement troubles and each one is fun to hear. The science was a little hard to believe but the characters and humor were still in force.
