Spoiler alert

Having worked with registered sex offenders for over 20 years, the mother in this story is WHO NOT to be!! Reason who people reoffend…enabling. As a mother I get love but this character is not what a mother should be.

Very intense but would recommend

I was surprised that I could listen to the entire book given the intense subject matter. The story is written well, and my only complaint is with the narrator. She didn't do a good job with the male or child voices.

I purchased this audiobook on Audible.

Dr. Lucinda Berry is a former clinical psychologist and leading researcher in childhood trauma. Now, she spends her days writing full-time, where she uses her clinical experience to blur the line between fiction and nonfiction. She enjoys taking her readers on a journey through the dark recesses of the human psyche. Her work has been optioned for film and translated into multiple languages.
If Berry isn’t chasing after her son, you can find her running through Los Angeles, prepping for her next.

“But he’s better now.”

After Noah confesses to doing the unthinkable, his mother, Adrianne, struggles with how to move forward. She loves her son unconditionally and wants to believe that he can be fixed. Her husband wants nothing to do with Noah. He is ready to write him off; his confession brings back memories and makes him feel insecure. The real question is, what would you do for the ones you love?

Holy shit. I have so many feelings. I have to start this review with a massive trigger warning. This novel deals with pedophilia and rape. Do not read this novel of these things trigger you.

I had to take several listening breaks during this audiobook. Several passages were challenging to listen to—several moments where I was so disgusted that I could not continue.

This story will rip your heart out, for so many reasons. This novel will make you think about situations in a completely different way. Lucinda Berry can tell a story in such a uniquely powerful way, you will literally have to remind yourself to breathe.

This was emotional. So so many reasons. I enjoyed that Berry discussed all sides of the situation, from societies viewpoints to the mother who just loves her child so much more than his mistakes.

I did not see the twist in this one. Wow. I feel like I have been kicked in the guy and dropped from 100 feet. Adrianne was such a complex character. She made me angry, made me sad, and in the end she broke my heart.

There are so many elements to this story. A taboo topic, and one the elicits a strong reaction at the mere mention of it. This was a different side to the argument, and it has left me speechless. Damn you, Lucinda Berry!

First experience with audiobooks

I enjoyed this story, and the narration was well done (ffwd it to 1.15x though in attempt to match my mental reading speed)

Touching story, hard to take sides.

One of the toughest books I’ve ever read…

📚Honest Review📚

This is by far one the toughest books I’ve ever read. Once more, Dr. Lucinda Berry delivered a jewel worth to be read and re read.

One of the most uncomfortable topics to deal with is child abuse and pedophilia, no questions ask.

In this novel you will find Noah’s story a straight A teenager, amazing son, friend and outstanding member of his community.

The author created Noah so well that provided him with a very unique and distinctive family: a loving mother beyond any felony committed, a seven year old little sister who adores him and worships the floor he walks on and a father who turns his back on him the moment everything comes to light.

This is the first book I’ve read where the story is told from the mother’s POV and I truly believe that this is what makes the story even more heartbreaking.

There’s so much we ignore about the mind of a pedophile, there’s so much we ignore about so many topics related to specific human conditions!

I will not lie to the reader and state that I was not able even for a second to feel Noah’s pain.

This heinous crimes are unforgivable and yet here @lucindaberryauthor once more takes the reader to unknown territory.

I strongly recommend this book, however if this topic touches you very close and personal remember you can always stop ✋🏻 and reflect upon your own personal experiences.

Sad

This story was just sad. All sad. Nothing gained. The twist at the end I saw in the beginning and was disappointed at how the twist played out.
Just a bad book in my opinion. Waist of time.

Don’t trust negative reviews

A great book does more than entertain to me. It enlightens and stirs your emotions to grapple with unaware biases or stereotypes or ignorance. Saving Noah does just that. The narrator choice was perfect to me. She sounded so authentically a mother in the fight of her life. If you want to read a book that truly engages your soul, this is the book. I have no kids, but this book made me feel the mother bond fiercely. Enjoy.

Different story but poor narration.

The content of the story was originall and interesting to read about an alternative perspective of what is an controversial subject. The twist at the end I didn't expect but had wondered whether it was the case. The narration took some getting used to, she does not take a breath and seemed almost monotone, only towards the end it became less annoying.

Thoroughly good read!!

Thoroughly good read, full of twists & turns. Deals with a topic still considered taboo in society in respectful manner, and is incredibly well researched.
