Story
What makes you happy? That was the question Emery Reed asked me the day we met, and I couldn't give him a single answer. I could have said my dog, or my books, or yoga - but I just stared. And then, I got in his car. It was crazy to take a road trip with a stranger, but after years of standing still, he was my one-way ticket to a new life, and I wasn't going to miss it. We shared the same space, the same car, the same hotel room - and still, we were strangers. One day we'd be laughing, the next, we wouldn't speak. Emery was surrounded by impenetrable walls, but I wanted in.

Story
My boyfriend’s billionaire boss always gets what he wants. Menacingly handsome and unquestionably powerful, Theo Whitman need only snap his fingers to have a flock of supermodels fall at his feet. So when his steel gray eyes first meet mine, I expect him to pass right over me, to not give so much as a second thought to my presence. Instead, he sees me. His intense gaze immobilizes me. The way he speaks strips me bare. Every brush of his skin sears me like a violent flame. My boyfriend’s billionaire boss always gets what he wants. And this time, I think he wants me.

Story
As if things aren’t already tough enough as the only girl on a college football team, Coach had to go and assign Zeke Collins as my roommate. A cocky kick returner and my brother’s best friend who should have been ripped of that title years ago, he’s as infuriating as he is undeniably sexy. I hate him, and for good reason—reason I won’t ever let him forget. He thinks because we grew up together that it’s his role to protect me, but all he does is get in my way, make me look weak, and piss me off more.

I tried to stay away from Tyler Wagner, putting an entire country between us. But when his sister’s wedding brings us back to the same town, to the same house, I can’t avoid him, no matter how hard I try. He’s always there, his dark eyes bewitching, luring me into their depths. The memory of us pulls me under like a rip current, and when he flashes that smile, I lose my breath, along with my will, unable to escape his grip and find the surface.

Story
On the northeast side of town, there is a house. The house was once magical, filled with love and joy and plans for the future. Inside its walls are many things that belong to me - my books, the china from my mother on my wedding day, the beautiful cage once home to two birds, now empty, just like me. And a man. A man who also belongs to me. A man I no longer wish to keep. A man who, no doubt, has not slept, though the sun is rising. Because the house where he waits is where I laid my head to rest every night for eight years. Until last night.

When I decided to surprise my family in Wellhaven, Vermont, for Christmas, I never could have known that I'd get a surprise of my own. I haven't been home in four years, not since I left this town with my eyes set on adventure. And my heart set on forgetting the only man I’ve ever loved: River Jensen, my ex-husband. I don't plan on seeing him during my visit. I definitely don't plan on him saving me when my little rental car slides off the icy road. And the last thing I could have ever prepared for is being stuck in a tiny cabin with him, waiting out the storm.

See, I've been told I'm the "good time girl", not the one you take home to Mom. And while that label stung at first, I've since embraced it - living the wild and free life and sticking to a three-date max. That's just enough time to have some fun and snuff out the possibility of catching feelings. And it's been working for me for years...until Makoa Kumaka. Sadly, he also has a three-date rule - and it's the exact opposite of mine.

It's crazy how fast the buzz comes back after you've been sober for so long. Whiskey stood there, on my doorstep, just like he had one year before. Except this time, there was no rain, no anger, no wedding invitation - it was just us. >It was just him - the old friend, the easy smile, the twisted solace wrapped in a glittering bottle. It was just me - the alcoholic, pretending like I didn't want to taste him, realizing too quickly that months of being clean didn't make me crave him any less.

Reasons why I should not be drawn to Troy Serrano. Number one: He’s obnoxious. Number two: We were enemies more than a decade ago. Number three: He’s my friend’s ex-boyfriend. I could go on and on, really. When my boss gives me an unwanted assignment, and tells me it involves spending time with the grandson of one of our residents, the grandson turns out to be Troy. Lucky me. Four hours a week of having to deal with his insufferable personality and unsolicited advice - the only consolation is getting to stare at his annoyingly gorgeous face, in between our many arguments.

I was totally over Joshua Parkerson. Sure, I had a teenage crush on him way back when - and everyone knew it - but he never saw me as anything but his little brother's friend, the girl who got tongue-tied any time he walked into a room. I had long ago accepted the fact that his strong arms would never hold me, his lush lips would never claim mine, and his blue eyes would never see me as anything more than who I used to be.

Publisher's Summary
Two strangers.
Two words.
One unforgettable summer....
When you’re an artist, everything has to be perfect.
Or so I thought, until my professor told me my perfection was boring and unoriginal. Studying abroad in Florence has taught me one thing: I know nothing when it comes to what makes art truly beautiful.
So, with my professor's words in my ear, I step outside one evening and decide to say yes to any and everything I’m faced with until the sun rises.
Of course, I didn’t expect him to show up.
Liam Benson, the broody, sexy, tortured artist from my class who I can’t stand. He’s got a sour outlook on the world and an ego so big no one could properly stroke it to his satisfaction.
When he finds out what I’m doing, he hijacks my “yes” night.
And after just twelve hours with him, I’m desperate for more.
But Liam is running from more than I could ever understand, and with his heart guarded and mind made up about life, I don’t stand a chance.
I convince myself that we can keep it casual.
But walking away from him at the end of the summer is as impossible as painting outside the lines.
I used to think when you’re an artist, everything has to be perfect.
Turns out everything has to be painful, and messy, and fleeting.
If only I’d known that before I fell under Liam Benson’s spell.

A Summer Romance in Italy!
This was such an enjoyable audiobook, which was wonderfully narrated by Hannah Chiclana. The setting in Italy was so much fun. All the fashion, food, events, and music of the late 1990s was such a fun throw-back. Harley has a disability/rare birth defect that I thought really played into her character’s story so much. Liam is a moody and tortured hero, having suffered a tragic loss. Harley & Liam are both Americans taking art classes in Italy. At first Harley is put off by Liam's rudeness and slacker attitude. After one night where Harley sets out to "Say Yes" to everything, she runs into Liam who joins her on the adventure. Having a chance to get to know him and even hear his story of his past, they form a bond that can't be denied. I really believed their chemistry and emotional connection, you can feel that their relationship is fresh and raw and all those first moments of falling in lust and then love. Solid 4 star read.

An emotional journey
The bio for Kandi Steiner on Goodreads mentions her emotional rollercoaster stories, and that would certainly sum up Say Yes. On the one hand, it has such a great message - from taking a day to just say yes to learning to let go of those things that hold us back. On the other hand, both Harley and Liam have things to work through, some harder to deal with than others and some more emotional than others - but all of it, the good and the bad, add up to one doozy of an emotional rollercoaster. So, yes, the story is without a doubt, angsty and emotional, but the journey is worth every minute of angst. It's impossible to keep from getting caught up in these characters and rooting for them to make a go of it.
Of course, a big part of creating a great audiobook lies with the choice of narrator, and I have to say the author chose brilliantly. Hannah Chiclana lays it all out there. I could not only hear every emotional up and down, I could feel them.
I would recommend making sure you're ready for a journey crammed with all the feels, and you're ready to shed a tear or two, and then to curl up and prepare to get lost in these characters and their story.

A Must Listen/Read!!
I don't even know how this is possible but this my first time reading/listening to a book by this author. I so very much enjoyed this book. Harley and Liam. These two really brought up tons of emotion in me. I loved how everything evolved between the two of them throughout the entire book. Liam is broken and has a very tragic past that he’s been running away from. Though at times he did annoy me, I really did love his character. I LOVED Harley. I loved her so much. She’s so easy to understand and empathize with. I loved watching her grow throughout the book. I wish this book was told from Liam’s perspective as well, I would have loved to see that. I loved the amazing job Kandi did with fleshing out these two. She has such a way with words and it brings out a ton of emotion to you while you're reading. This book was narrated by Hannah Chiclana and I thought she did such a great job as Harley! I don’t believe I’ve ever listened to a book narrated by her before I thought she did a wonderful job. Being able to listen to this audiobook gave me such a better understanding and visualization of the characters and setting. This book made me laugh, cry and a little bit of everything else in between. I highly recommend this book to any and all.

All the feels
With the backdrop of the 90’s, Say Yes was a magnificent and emotional story which I truly enjoyed. Harley and Liam were two beautifully flawed characters. It was a pleasure to see how one night of “yes” had kicked started a life-changing journey for the both of them. I will forever treasure the lesson behind this stunning story and always live in the moment and live life to the fullest.
Hannah Chiclana's great performance enhanced the listening experience and brought the characters and their story to live.

Sweet Story with 90's Nostalgia
4.5⭐
“I need you, Harley. Like I need eyes to see.” He swallowed. “Like I need brushes to paint.” Review: I heard so many good things about this book, so I was excited to dive in. This book is set in the 90's which was completely different, unique and fun. Harley is in Italy for the summer to see if she can make it as an artist, or if she will have to be an accountant like her parents want. Liam is the broody art student living in the moment. Trying to hide from his past, he comes to Italy just to paint. Harley strives to be perfect in everything she does. Unfortunately that perfectionism is only holding her back in her art. As she tries to break free of that, she decides to live a little, having a Yes night. She will say yes to anything that comes her way. The first thing that comes her way that night, turns her night into so much more than she could have imagined. The character growth that Harley goes through is so heart warming. Watching as she begins to overcome some of her struggles pulls on your heartstrings as you root for her. My heart broke for Liam and all that he went through. To have to endure all that heartache would destroy anyone. I wanted to smack him upside the head a few times, but these two really were perfect for each other. Harley helped Liam just as much as Liam helped Harley. Their love was beautiful and perfect. The Epilogue made me soo happy. These two came so far and got their HEA. I enjoyed the 90's nostalgia throughout the book and thought Kandi did such a great job with it. I feel like I always learn something from Kandi's writing. I have a few quotes saved as Words of Wisdom to remember in life. I took away so many things from this book. I listened to the audiobook by Hannah Chiclana and she did a fantastic job! She did such a great job bringing Harley to life and using different voices and inflections throughout for different characters. I really enjoyed this audiobook!

Say Yes, A New Adult Romance
Say Yes, A New Adult Romance is beautifully lovestory. The cover is gorgeous and the premise intrigued me. I absolutely loved that the background of the story is taking place in Italy. Angsty and beautiful characters with heart. I love the art aspect of the story. Kandi Steiner is a highly talented writer and this book is no exception. It's absolutely stunning. The characters are compelling and supporting characters envelope the story.
Hannah Chiclana is a highly talented narrator and her flawless performance enhanced the experience and transported the characters and their story to reality. Her inflection is sweet and easy listening.

Lots of feelings...
I loved that this story was set in the 1990's since that is when I grew up! I must be around their age and I loved some of the references that were made. Brings me right back there!
Liam and Harley's story was an emotional roller coaster. I loved that Harley wasn't a "perfect" person. She had a flawed hand that really had defined her through her life and this trip was really learning to love herself and who she was despite her hand.
Liam had gone through something horrible that has closed him off to feelings. He just exists.
I loved watching these two let each other in. There are heartfelt moments and moments you want to scream. It was a good story and I enjoyed it. I wanted to shake Liam at times, but it was a good story.
The narrator did a great job telling the story from Harley's viewpoint.

Too many emotions!
I wanted to love this book. But I think I’m just not emotionally mature enough or artistic enough. I couldn’t relate to these characters as hard as I tried. I also just didn’t feel the chemistry. This book is filled with feelings, and symbolism. I loved hearing about the art and Florence. I also didn’t even realize this book was set in 1996 until like 75% of the way in. I wanted this woman to be confident in all she had done and accomplished. But she was always looking at the negative. She was hyper focused on her flaws. The hero was very broody artist which is always hard for me. But she gave him so much and he gave her so little. It just felt like a very unhealthy relationship.

🌟 🌟 Amazing story and narration 🌟 🌟
Kandi Steiner writes like a dream. She transported me back to the 90s (which, SQUEEL, was so fun) and to Italy as an artist. Steiner has continually brought me to my knees with angst and the beauty of her stories and characters. I really related to Harley, not as an artist, but as someone who has dreams and is struggling to bring them to life. She's living the dream as a student studying art in Italy over the next 90 days. Harley meets Liam while there. They are the complete opposites... Harley is obsessed with her art being perfect while Liam is more into being free with his art, feeling it. Harley decides to spend one night saying yes to everything in front of her, to live life free and impulsive. Who does she run into but Liam. That yes night was everything! So much feeling. So much live for the moment. This is probably one of the most quotable books ever. Some of the things said or the feelings thought made me pause and really think. Steiner made her own art here with Say Yes.
The narrator, Hannah Chiclana, is one I've heard maybe once or twice before this audiobook. I'm a fan of Steiner's and she's used her several times now. Chiclana doesn't just read the book to listeners. I felt like she acted the part of them and I lived it. She'd pause during some of the most quotable and monumental moments and it'd really make the statement that much more impactfull. If you're an audiobook lover than you know a narrator can make or break an audiobook, Chiclana definitely made it. More than that though, you'll know a good narrator can add so much more to an audiobook than just a pleasant voice. Chiclana added a pulse to this story. It was beautifully read and she's a narrator that I'm excited to hear more from.

This book ist just Wow
This story is heartmelting!!! From the beginning on this book had me fully wrapped. The narrator (Hannah is new to me) did an amazing job, like the book is written just for her. The story brings you to Florence, Italy in the 90's with artstudent Harley. There she meets in her artclass Liam. Their lovestory begins turbulent with many ups and downs during their summersemester in Italy. It's a great written lovestory I can totally recommend.

Wonderful story!
Italy. A romantic country full of art and love. Harley has gone to study her art in an intensive program not expecting to fall in love. Always the perfectionist, she finds herself challenged by her professor to feel more as she paints. Liam, her classmate, is a last minute, under pressure painter and his work is gaining the praise she seeks. Good looking, always a woman on his arm, she finds herself attracted and repelled by by him. Until the night she goes out and is determined to say yes to everything! He takes her on a journey of new, exciting paths and he doesn't see her disability. As they learn about each other, the push pull is accentuated. There is a lot to Liam, and he is broken. Will they each be able to overcome their obstacles to find the love they seek? This is an angsty, romantic journey, and I loved every minute of it. Kandi Steiner has taken two complete opposites, each with their own issues and made them real. It's emotional, heart wrenching and rewarding, the best kind of love story and one you will not want to miss.
Hannah Chiclana brings this story to life with an impactful performance. She creates the personalities of Harley and Liam with their traits evident in each of their voices. Easily distinguishable and an easy pace, the story flows and is one I will remember.

Such an amazing book
It has been a while since I read a book that really spoke to me and really impacted me. This audiobook did both.
This book really showed that it is okay not to be "perfect" or strive for perfection. This book was so real and it really spoke to me. Both Liam and Harley have their own "baggage" yet working together and also having an incredible "Yes night", they both took chances and faced their fears.
This book is filled with hope, angst, courage and love. I loved every minute of it. The scenery and descriptions were amazing, the characters were amazing and real. I loved the flow and the feelings I got while reading this book.
Kandi Steiner took some very sensitive topics and delivered them with such grace and empathy, I am in awe! There are extracts in this book that will stay with me forever. I will definitely reread this book.
The audiobook was perfect. This isn't the first book I have listened to narrated by Hannah, and it won't be the last. Hannah captured Harley perfectly, her emotions and the accents around her. She really brought this book to life.
You can really tell a lot of research and thought went into writing and delivering this book.
I highly recommend this book

A lovely story about finding your yes.
An emotional, slow burning angst filled story about loss, art, joy and despair set in the 1990's in Italy with the narrative beauty that Ms. Steiner is known for you say? Yes, I do say. And this was beautiful in every way. As an exploration of grief in many forms, finding yourself in a new country and inside yourself, not to mention the angst of a romance you know you shouldn't put your all into and yet...you do. If you enjoy the kind of romance that keeps you gripped, but still punches you in the gut, say yes to this and thank me later. I volunteered to listen and review a complimentary copy of this. All opinions are my own.
