Publisher's Summary

A shy wallflower meets her dream man - or does she? - in the next book in New York Times best-selling author Eloisa James' Wildes of Lindow series.

Miss Viola Astley is so painfully shy that she's horrified by the mere idea of dancing with a stranger; her upcoming London debut feels like a nightmare.

So she's overjoyed to meet handsome, quiet vicar with no interest in polite society - but just when she catches his attention, her reputation is compromised by a duke.

Devin Lucas Augustus Elstan, Duke of Wynter, will stop at nothing to marry Viola, including marrying a woman whom he believes to be in love with another man.

A vicar, no less.

Devin knows he's no saint, but he's used to conquest, and he's determined to win Viola's heart.

Viola has already said Yes to his proposal, but now he wants her unruly heart...and he won't accept No for an answer.

Very Ordinary

the premise of the story was basically absent from the story altogether. It is said that she is shy but there is no sign of it in the story. The duke does not seem to have a consistent character either. It is not a bad story but there is nothing interesting in it either.

Narrator killed this story for me

A narrator sure can ruin a story. Why do some have to draw out the last words in a sentence like that. Are they reading the news? I didn’t get past the first chapter so I couldn’t rate the story it’s self.

Just okay.

With too much time to spend in quarantine, Viola’s story was ok. Her reason for being shy lame. The Duke was also unremarkable. Overall, it was not good but not entirely bad. I am somewhat disappointed coming from Betsy’s story. Say NO to the Duke is still the best in this series.

Could have been more

This could have been a favorite of this series but it became so boring with chapter after chapter of sensual teasing working up to the big event and then more chapter and verse of the actual act. It was very annoying as in extremely annoying. I just wanted to get back to the story without this long time out for page filling back and forth on the topic. Too bad because this story had many absorbing and entertaining aspects and the characters were so much more. I ended up skipping through the endless, will you, won't you, are we? The scene in the closet at the church was ridiculous. Was this supposed to be funny? The narrator is absolutely one of the most talented voice actors on audible. If it wasn't for her making this listenable it would be a total wash. Susan Duerden is one of the best.

Not her best

A little simplistic, pretty predictable and not as good as previous books. Susan Duetden is an “acquired taste” as a narrator, but I enjoy her. She isn’t challenged much by this far from complex, latest James work.
