Publisher's Summary

The coauthor of the New York Times best-selling House of Night series returns with the mesmerizing second book in the Escaped series.

In order to save his home and the mortal realm from assured destruction, Alek, son of the Furies, has been charged with recapturing the souls of those who escaped Tartarus into the mortal realm. But he can't do it alone.

Eva has discovered that she has powers beyond her comprehension and a destiny to fulfill - and that there are people who will stop at nothing to destroy her.

Now, in Scarlet Rain, the Nosoi - the spirits of illness - have been unleashed on the mortal realm, releasing a plague as clever and adaptable as it is insidious. Alek and Eva must capture and banish the Nosoi back to their underworld prison - but Eva has yet to harness the powers needed to defeat such a powerful enemy, and Alek sustains catastrophic wounds in the attempt. They must rely on detective James Graham and Eva's best friend, Bridget, if they are to slow the plague. But can mere mortals come through in the face of such overwhelming peril?

Very disappointed

Over all the story was an interesting concept but the dialogue was just terrible and it was 95% of the book. Really wish “Eva” the main character wasn’t so whinny and “Alek” he supposed warrior had a more dynamic personality. Honestly he just seemed like a tool. All of his dialogue Don’t even get me started on Eva’s best friend. Bridget. She reminded me of Elle from Legally Blonde. And “James” the detective seemed like a bumbling idiot. Always seemed like he was falling all over himself. A writer is suppose to show, not tell. Really hard to sit through a lot of that.

Just some thoughts...

While this story starts off alright, picking up where the first book left off, it lacks some serious story and character development.

As in the first book, the author tends to skip through setting up a scene, and jumps right into the action. And the reader is left with a "Where did that come from?" feeling.

The steamy scenes are well written, but again, they occur in a sporadic way without any realistic lead in as to why.

There was only minimal background on the characters, with most of what we know about them coming from whatever they do within the story itself.

Caitlin Davies voice is enjoyable, but her presentation of Bridget and a few of the other characters seemed too light hearted. This could have been read more as a dark comedy.

I do think this series could be adapted into a fantastic comic or anime book.

Again, just some thoughts.

Better Than The 1st, Hanging In Suspense, Erotic, Kinky Literature

If you think things couldn't get any crazier then you are dead wrong. In this book, we found out the twists, the turns, the Amber smoke, the scarlet rain and more bout both worlds. Things you won't believe will happen. Another book worth a listen. This series need more and I can't wait what else is planned.

performer amazing as always

the narrator did a wonderful job like she always does I have listened to several books that she has narrated. Although I am a fan of PC cast and Kristin cast as writers these books kind of felt like they were lacking something not a hundred percent sure what but something was missing. Something's Happened to soon or too fast without explanation or some things didn't happen fast enough and it was just like come on get on with it. But all-in-all I did enjoy the storyline I hope to hear more.

I'm hooked!

I loved Amber Smoke and was definitely not disappointed in Scarlet Rain! Love the characters and the storyline was awesome. Great plot twists and even better cliffhanger! Can't wait for the next book and the upcoming novellas!

More slapstick comedy than romance.

If you are under the impression that this is romance, you might be disappointed. However, if you follow this book with slapstick comedy, such as but not as good as Airplane, Silence of the Hams, and White Chicks as examples, you might really enjoy this book as well as the series. I must say that Bridget was my favourite character and kept me laughing throughout the book.

Scarlet Rain

This story was a bit young for me. After all, my cousins call me the ancient one now. This is a good and interesting story!

Good story brought to life by fantastic narration!

I’m in love with Cast’s books but the stories could not have Truly been brought to life without the tremendously talented Caitlin Davies who brings out the personalities of each character in remarkable ways.

I am disappointed that the story hasn't continued

Both of these books were amazing but the continuation ending feels a little lacking considering there hasn't been another book since 2015.
