Publisher's Summary

Scary God brings you face-to-face with our Warrior-King God." (John Bevere, best-selling author of The Bait of Satan)

Discover the great wonder and wild freedom the fear of the Lord can bring.

God’s character is like a mighty diamond - a glorious convergence of respect, awe, reverence, adoration, thanksgiving, and yes, fear.

Yet why is it so difficult to reconcile the wrath of God with the love of God?

As Mattie teaches, it is simply a continual awareness of Jesus, our mighty Warrior King.

We should not be afraid to come to God; rather we should be afraid to be against Him.

Fans of Jefferson Bethke, John Bevere, and Brian Head Welch, will love the straight-talk in Scary God.

Good.

Starts strong, Mattie does a great job narrating. Just wish there was more meat and potatoes. Some good pointers in here, it’s definitely worth a listen if you enjoy any of his previous works(audio).

Needed

The modern church needs this word. Mattie starts with a personal experience of encountering the Fear of God. But he doesn't leave the book in the murky waters of personal experience; he runs quickly to Scripture and demonstrates what a right fear of God is. There is no wimping out here. No dumbing down of the fear of God. Mattie is quick to say that the Fear of God actually means to be afraid; not just kind or respectful. He discusses the benefits of a healthy fear of God and how we can practically build that into our lives.

While Mattie may fear God, he does not fear men or movements. He's not interested in the prosperity gospel or what he calls the popularity gospel. Instead, he pushes modern believers to authentically seek the Living God.

Life changing!

It is like the thoughts of my mind we’re brought to deeper understanding as I listened to this book about the magnificent God of creation. I highly recommend this book to anyone who desires to go deeper in the knowledge of who God the Father truly is! This book is pure fire! I will listen again and again for the rest of my life. Mattie is the real deal and I pray God would continue to raise up a generation with the same insight and obedience to be true to the word of God as this man!

Boldly put and Backed by scripture

Great book! The fear of God is often stored in the back drawer of our faith and forgotten. I walk away from this book with deep things I need to repent for and thought provoking questions I need to sit and chew on for a bit. Grateful to have come across this. Well written and read wonderfully.

Discover the forgotten

I have gone through this book 3 times and every time I find something new. Mattie does a great job explaining some thing our church has forgotten. It is inspired me to go deeper with YHWH and taught me new things about YHWH from scriptures I’ve read at least a dozen times. I’m probably going to go through it again just to discover more depth of YHWH, who I seek to know better. I highly recommend this book.

Going to buy a hard copy to read again

I'm glad I listened to the reading but I liked the book so well that I'm going to buy a hard copy to read as well. This is one book I'll want to read and or listen to more than once.
