Publisher's Summary

The basics of being a ScrumMaster are fairly straightforward: At face value, all a ScrumMaster needs to do is facilitate the Scrum process and remove impediments. But being a great ScrumMaster, one who truly embodies the principles of servant-leadership and helps nurture a high-performing team, is much harder and more elusive.

In this second edition of his groundbreaking book, Geoff shares an updated collection of stories and practical guidance, drawn from 20 years of coaching Scrum teams that will guide you on your path to greatness.

In this book, you will learn:

  • The skills and characteristics of great ScrumMasters
  • How to generate, maintain, and increase engagement from the team
  • How to increase the effectiveness of the Scrum meetings, such as retrospectives and daily scrums
  • How to foster a more creative and collaborative team
  • How to increase the performance of the team
  • How to know when you are a successful ScrumMaster

Scrum Mastery is for practicing ScrumMasters who want to develop themselves into a great servant-leader capable of taking their teams beyond simple process compliance.

Mike Cohn, in his foreword for the book, said:

"Most books rehash well-trod territory and I don’t finish them any wiser. I am positive I will be referring back to this book for many years."

Roman Pichler said:

"I am thoroughly impressed with how comprehensive and well-written the book is. It will be indispensable for many people."

Excellent Book

The book had a lot of good insights that reinforced things we should know and do, but sometimes don't. Lots of managerial and leadership principles too. I even found myself pulling up a notepad to jot down a few things I wanted to revisit in my mind and practice later. I don't typically do that, but the book was that good.

Cool tips for the journey towards Scrum Mastery

I liked this book for all the cool trips that the author provided with short little stories.

It all started great with a review of the book from Mike Cohn and Esther Derby - they have set the stage 😀

The chapters started with nice little stories and some role play scripts making it an engaging read.

I cannot wait to pass on all I learnt in this book to my Scrum Masters firstly and secondly to the teams I work with.

I am going to read the other cool books of Geoff Watts as early as I can. However, the difficulty that I had was the Audible version is not available on audible.in while it is only on amazon.co.uk and Amazon com. It would be great if they are made available to Indians.

Also, the price of the books is quite high.

Excellent review of leadership

This is more than just scrum. This is a mindset adjustment to great servant leadership and coaching for most teams and those thinking about developing their own leadership.

great book, but audio editing needed

great improvement of the first edition. but please check the audio one more time for this audiobook... several tracks are played back as if set to a 0.2 speed. others sound like they are recorded with a very cheap microphone
