Publisher's Summary

Two sisters. One unforgettable summer.

While renovating an old beach house, Ivy and her sister, Shelly, suddenly have full occupancy after fire forces Summer Beach residents from their homes. Even the mayor, Bennett Dylan, who was Ivy’s high school crush, moves in. As the summer heats up, attractions simmer and feuds erupt.

Living in the house Bennett had hoped could be a community center, he finds himself at odds with Ivy’s campaign for a bed-and-breakfast zoning change. And when valuable items disappear from the inn, Bennett’s friend Mitch, who owns the popular Java Beach coffee shop, is the prime suspect.

Shelly's romance with Mitch cools when his old criminal record emerges, which leads her to question if Summer Beach is the right place for her.

Despite the chaos, Ivy has just one summer to save the house from an impending tax sale. And when a documentary filmmaker arrives to reconstruct the history of the old house and its secretive former owner, yet another secret emerges from an unlikely place.

Seabreeze Summer is a sweet summer beach listen and the second novel in the Summer Beach series after Seabreeze Inn. Book your reservation in this small beachside town of intriguing characters now.

Disappointed

Author took 12 chapters of this book retelling the last 12 chapters of the 1st book in the series. Disappointing

Another Winner!

Ms Moran's books and the narration in this series take you away to another place, something we can all use during this time of the Corona Virus and unrest around us. This one is my favorite so far, but then I thought the same after the last one!

A California Summer

This seabreeze series is my first Jan Moran books and it was very easy to get into with all the excitement going on in this family... a fun summer read.
Only thing that bugged me was the voice of Bennett, he sounded old and raspy... it just didn’t fit him, and l usually love Erin’s character voices.
On to book #3 the finale and exploring more books by Jan Moran.

Annoying

This longer story has an interesting premise and a nice group of characters. But their personalities are never fleshed out; the pertinent features are dominant without balance. In particular are the flattish male characters loved by the main character and her sister, although they are only slightly flatter than the women. That kind of stress on salient features is fine for the first few chapters of a book, but not for the entire book. To feel attached to the characters, or at least interested in what happens to them, the reader needs to see multiple dimensions. I was annoyed listening to many pages of what seemed like the beginning of a story, not a total one. I kept wanting to push the author to shift into second gear.

Time was annoying also. Sometimes one day would last for many pages, and then suddenly an unknown number of days passed without my understanding why.

The narrator has a pleasant voice and seems to understand the story. But there is so much dramatic emphasis repeatedly that it becomes at first comical, and later annoying. The narrator certainly knows how to narrate drama, but she reads drama into what seemed like 96% of the scenes.

The ending was rather sudden. After so much drawn out detail throughout the book, for example, about what people ate and wore, to have the author then leap to a finale that had to be explained by the narration rather than by action was disturbing, disappointing and annoying.

I suspect this author has talent. I just didn’t get to experience it in this book.

Cute but not really a ‘page’ turner

I’d like to know how the story ends, but it’s not a very dynamic story. The ‘thief’ was also so predictable it was annoying how long it took to get to the reveal. Also, at times, very privileged when describing the character that had been to prison. Adult women stuck as stagnant teens.
