Publisher's Summary

Witch Cerise Bishop doesn’t have time - or patience - for love. But when she’s saved by a hot alpha wolf, things change. When Axel barges into her home to warn her that she’s on a group of witch hunters’ kill list, she doesn’t believe him. Forget how sexy he looks or how much she’d like to see him naked, she doesn’t need a savior.

Alpha wolf Axel Barrick wanted to crawl home to bed after a series of night shifts, not take a witch to a safehouse. But his sense of justice rules him and he goes to fetch Cerise. He’s intent on saving her by bringing her to the pack lands. Too bad she’s the most hardheaded, beautiful, and frustrating woman he’s ever met - and who happens to be his mate.

On Axel’s beautiful pack lands, Cerise has to face her past and learn to communicate with Axel. That doesn’t mean fall into bed after every argument. Sex is easy. Love, now that’s another story. But when Cerise is taken, all bets are off. Will Cerise’s determination to save herself actually get her killed?

eh... female character was annoying

(Axel & Cerise): this one wasn't as funny or as good as the first. I found the female lead extremely hard headed abs annoying for most of the book. Axel, the alpha deserves a medal for the patience he showed throughout the story. I loved how MT didn't have the alpha just do pack work but this alpha was actually a doctor for humans as well. I thought that was really cool as was the reason why he chose to become a doctor. I'm still curious as to how the witch hunters are tracking the witches so quickly so I'll keep reading the series to find out.

Disappointing

I was disappointed with this book after reading the first one. I thought the Alpha would get a better story for some reason but it was surprisingly just a basic copy of the first one. I mean exactly the same. More hot sex it seemed. But that was it. I guess Taiden was trying to draw the reader away from the copy and paste feel of the second book. Who knows? I do, however, plan to read the next two as well. I mean, you have to finish a project once you start, right?

DNF gaslighting

I don't normally toss a book when I only have an hour left to listen. I could handle the overly factual readings by both narrators and the ridiculously short insta-love of a short book cuz I figured it would be an easy half-an-ear kind of listen. And, this girl's hang-up is that she was convinced by her on-and-only ex to break the laws of society and magic, so she is hesitant to trust another guy AT ALL, let alone one who is demanding things from her right from the start. I can totally get behind this kind of conflict in a story. It can make for some pretty interesting character dynamics and drawn out anticipation.
BUT, when this girl gets upset with "Mr. Alpha" for taking her from her home immediately upon meeting her, not letting her see or even talk to her family, not letting her in on the plans of how she is being protected or why they think her pursuers can track when she uses magic, not telling her that he feels a mate bond until after they have sex (within 2 days of meeting), demanding that she attend pack meetings without telling her why, and preventing her from taking any action at all (let alone ones intended to clear her head or figure out what's going on), what does he do? He asks "who hurt you?" As though her resistance to him cannot possibly be due to all the bs he is pulling with him. As though her sleeping with him once means she can't possibly be upset with him and she must be damaged by something in the past instead of legitimately pissed at him.
And worse, then she starts to tell him what her deal is and that she can't trust, so his response is to just say "it's not like that with us" and suggest more sex instead of actually fixing any of the trust issues he had built up between them in the 2 days since they met. And then he's super puzzled that she doesn't 100% accept him as her everything right afterwards. Ugh.

Awkward dialogue, clunky plot.

The immaturity and peevishness of the main character is actually painful. I really tried to like her, but her thickheadedness given the situation makes literally no sense other than to drive the plot. I can’t really blame the narrators for their performances; they didn’t have a lot to work with. There may be other books by this author that are worth listening too, but I’d probably skip this one.

I think this is the worst review I’ve ever done

From the beginning it continually repeats from book 1. If I only listened to book 1 or 2 they would have been a 4 star rating, however, the only difference is he’s a Dr & the other shifter is a Sheriff. They are written with scenes happening simultaneously and the couple already talks on the phone knowing what the others are doing. Even the storyline is so similar, rescue girl who doesn’t want to be rescued and finds out she’s his fated mate and she’s a witch too just uses a different element. She escapes and same group of bad guys show up. There is honestly maybe an hour of different material, but not enough. I almost stopped listening. If they weren’t included in my membership I’d be highly upset. The next two cousins are twins also so I bet their two stories are just about identical. I don’t enjoy saying bad things about someone’s work cause I love books & can’t do what they do but I feel she really messed up with this series. Narration was good.

Even more disappointing

Well guess by being twins they share dumbassness. (special word for well special people) okay the only redeeming part is the Earth quakes mistery. Hoping the other books in this series are a little better. Not hard to do at this point. Thank God I did not use my credit on these books

same story as the first book

if you have listen to yhe first book in this series there is no need to listen to this. It is the same story. Our heroine has the same emotional issue and history. She makes the same foolish mistakes and does the same stupid impulsive things, listing the same reasons for doing it. The hero is the same also. Disappointing

2 stars

Same story as first book except different couple. It has the same emotion, same internal dialog, same events, and same conflicts and confusions. There is very limited origin story line. It is very very repetitive.

This audiobook doesn't work. It won't play. Pitty!

Too bad this audiobook wont play. I've rebooted my mob.
Its included in the series.. But if it wasnt for this sample, i wouldnt have bought all the other ones. Quite irritating to miss a book in between..
So thumbs down from me!
A big disappointment, really.

I couldn’t even finish it

The main character is so dislikable, and the guy is a pushover. I get unconditional love but this is actually disgusting.

I am enjoying the series

Shape shifters and their mating experiences are all so intense, it never cease to grab my attention, I find it captivating. Cerise is no damsel in distress, she didn't take any crap from Axel or agree to anything she was not ready for, even though she have to fight so hard to keep her hands off him.
The way shifter pack families all bond together and watch out for each other is beautiful.
