Story
Yesterday I was a teenager waiting tables in Manhattan, and today, monsters exist and I can see them. Overnight I’m thrown into the realm of the Watchers, a society of earthbound angels split into two factions: the Shades, whose powerful dark magic is given to them by the fallen angels, and the Lumens, whose abilities are bestowed on them by the archangels of Avalon. They’re on opposite sides of a brutal war, and I only have a few days to pick which side I want to join. I’m ready to choose when the Shades force my hand by cursing someone I love.

Story
It all started with a dare. A single dare on Maisey Parker's 21st birthday and her entire life changed. One second she was getting drunk with her friends, and the next she was climbing a cliff, cutting her hand, and accidentally offering a blood sacrifice that opened a thousand year old prison. Now they're in a race against the clock to resurrect the other Titans, the only beings who can contain the evil. They're the world's last hope. And Maisey's.

After I challenged the Blood Council's four shifter heirs at a college party, the last thing I expected was to receive a full scholarship and an admittance letter from the exclusive Wolf Moon Academy. Despite never desiring to be an alpha, this was an opportunity of a lifetime...or so I thought. I soon learned that there was more behind my admission to the Academy than my education. I was there to be a lesson to the heirs - in particular, the sexiest and strongest one, Liam Hale.

Vanessa Moyen... We meet again
Oh, how I loathe Vanessa Moyen. Her voice reminds me of every flippant teenage girl combined into one. It is such an annoying and grating voice and when the characters in leia stone's books have "responsibilities", Moyen somehow makes them sound like panicked little babies with no idea what to do with themselves. Spoilers, all of Leia stone's main leads are important in some form so imagine my frustration at seeing them all talk like whiny brats. Yes they're technically young characters and it would be appropriate for a teenager to sound like a teenager... but do they have to sound like moyen? I'm sure moyen is a very lovely woman but I don't want her narrating my audiobooks until she makes her voice a little deeper.
This story in particular is very illsuited to moyen's voice because it's very immature writing paired with a very immature sounding voice. You'd think it'd be a match made in heaven, right? No. It just made the book tedious and I cringed whenever the main character cursed which was all the freaking time. I had to make the books narration go at 3x the speed to endure it. Gah.

Lily is awesome.
My favorite narrator killed it again. Not sure I need to say anymore on that.
It sucks that the book had to start off so sad. But I think it will help the FMC be the hero to all. I'm pretty sure this book brought more questions than it answered. So many secrets! I have to know more.
Who is Liam protecting?! What's with the elders? Mermaids? What will happen next?!

Basic
As one who is very well versed in all things fantasy and Fae this was something I was excited to find and read. How disappointed I was.
The story and characters lack depth. Yes, depth is built on a character level usually over several novels in this genre but the main character was rushed and basic.
The writing was rushed and it felt like the author maybe left her thesaurus somewhere and couldn't think of any better words than the F word to use over, and over, and over again. Folks this is not a children's book as it is so labeled.
This may possibly be the only fantasy series that I start and don't finish.
The narrator was the only thing that saved it.

Good story
Story is very good, as always, Vanessa is the best. However, in my opinion, the use of the "F word" is NOT necessary. It does nothing for the story.
People seem to have zero respect for what comes out of their mouths.

Great Beginning
I really love Leia Stone books and this is no different. I get a little annoyed that the main character isn't sharing things with her moms best friend or her because I feel like she can trust them. I really hope there is some way to keep both worlds from falling apart. I love the love interest 💕... I always go for the bad boy.

An entertaining story that pulled me in!
This was such an entertaining story! I'm a sucker for fae and loved the focus on light vs dark. The sassiness and strength of the characters and the inclusion of crystals within the world drew me into the story. I did find it started a little slow, but after a couple chapters, I was easily lost in the pages until the end. I liked the twists and the characters challenging the status quo. I really enjoyed this and look forward to the next book. I also felt the narrator did a great job. I love how Moyen captures the characters' personalities and infuses the emotions of the story into her performance. It went beyond the pages and really brought the story to life for me.

Rushed
It felt very rushed, I had trouble keeping up as it was just action action action feelings. Some of the characters that should have a larger role (like her best friend) were barely in there, and I have no idea what their personality is like or how their friendship is. This is the same for most of the other characters.
It was hard finishing this because of it. I got frustrated because I didn't have enough substance on the side characters to even remember who was who for 3/4 of the book. Which is sad, because it has the potential to be great if it weren't so rushed.
Might give the second book a chance to see if it improves, but right now this book just made me feel disappointed.
