This audiobook is well explained!

This audiobook is very helpful in regard to being kind to one's self. I never realized how hard I was on myself. I just thought that was the way to be. I still have a long ways to go in this regard, but this audiobook is great in helping to get started on this new thinking pathway.

It give me higher awareness!

Highly recommend this audiobook! It grabs your attention and interest from the beginning, unlike most audiobooks. From the start, it provides tools, exercises, and thought-provoking insight including differentiating between self-esteem and self-compassion. I especially love the simple online pre and post audiobook self-compassion assessment. I only wish I had this audiobook available to listen to decades ago. It can be life-changing!

I love this one!

This audiobook is wonderful... Many people often put themselves down and are critical of every mistake they make in this life. My therapist recommended this audiobook to me and I listen to it in almost one sitting. It has helped me think differently about myself and this change has in turn helped me to be more compassionate with other people. We are all in need of love and it does indeed start with learning how to love oneself.

Easy to follow tips!

After listening to this novel though I haven't been able to call myself a "terrible person" anymore without a huge grin on my face. All my friends think of it as a joke now. And the love I shared with them for years I now am working on sharing with myself. It has been so important in the journey of making myself whole. You made my life so much better.

I'm totally pleased!

I'm a perfectionist and when things don't go as planned, I get anxious. I tend to beat myself up, which only makes the anxiety worse. I'd listen about being kind to yourself, but I didn't know HOW. This audiobook gave me the techniques and helped relieve my anxiety. Now, when something unplanned or unexpected happens, I acknowledge that I'm having a hard time (instead of dismissing it), treat myself as I would a good friend (I deserve kindness just like everyone else does), and remind myself that I'm not alone (we're all human). It may sound simple, but when you grow up without self-soothing skills, learning what you can actually do is a blessing. :) I also liked how the author wrote about her own experience; I could relate to a lot of it, so that was a plus.

Better Life

I like that I can relate to some of the problems they talk about that I’m having. It’s helping me find ways to improve and understand. I would recommend this to people that’s having problems of letting go of past hurts and feeling like nobody understands.

Has the what but not the how

This is a good one but I kept finding myself asking “how?” at many points throughout the book. It’s like a summary of what you should do and how you should be but not the how you can and should do it. There were some examples for things and lots of long lists for things but not specific step by step of how to apply things. I liked what I heard but after finishing it I’m still asking myself how to do it and apply the things shared to gain better self - love, esteem, confidence& care. So much for the 4 selfs. Doesn’t teach you how to achieve them.

it's okay

Too many assumptions were made, like the existance of the almighty, and some of the analogies were lazy, and I don't think it dealt enough with self worth. It kept saying "we should do this and that" without proper reasoning first.
