Story
Storytelling has come of age in the business world. Today, many of the most successful companies use storytelling as a leadership tool. The reason for this is simple: Stories have the ability to engage an audience the way logic and bullet points alone never could. Whether you are trying to communicate a vision, sell an idea, or inspire commitment, storytelling is a powerful business tool that can mean the difference between mediocre results and phenomenal success.

Every salesperson must endure many NOs in order to get to YES. Objections don't care or consider: who you are, what you sell, how you sell, or if you are new to sales or a veteran. For as long as salespeople have been asking buyers to make commitments, buyers have been throwing out objections. And, for as long as buyers have been saying no, salespeople have yearned for the secrets to getting past those NOs. Objections is a comprehensive and contemporary guide that engages your heart and mind.

One of the biggest myths that plagues the business world today is that our ability to network depends on having the “gift-of-gab”. You don’t have to be outgoing to be successful at networking. You don’t have to become a relentless self-promoter. In fact, you don’t have to act like an extrovert at all. Matthew Pollard, an introvert himself, draws on over a decade of research and real-world examples to provide an actionable blueprint for introverted networking.

Years ago, after suffering a humiliatingly large dumb tax, it dawned on me that I have a seemingly unlimited ability to hit unforced errors and sabotage my business and financial success. I suspect you do, too. It turns out that the key to getting rich (and staying that way) is to avoid doing stupid things. I don't need to do more smart things. I just need to make fewer dumb mistakes. The vast majority of our dumb tax is a direct result of emotional, overly optimistic, and poorly thought out decisions.

Publisher's Summary
Despite all the high-tech tools available to salespeople, the most personal method still works best.
Storytelling packs the emotional punch to turn routine presentations into productive relationships. It explains products or services in ways that resonate; it connects people and creates momentum. Stories speak to the part of the brain where decisions are made.
Paul Smith, author of the acclaimed Lead with a Story, shifts his best-selling formula to the sales arena. In Sell with a Story, he identifies the ingredients of the most effective sales stories and reveals how to:
- Select the right story
- Craft a compelling and memorable narrative
- Incorporate challenge, conflict, and resolution
- Use stories to introduce yourself, build rapport, address objections, add value, bring data to life, create a sense of urgency, and more
Complete with model stories, skill-building exercises, and enlightening examples from Microsoft, Costco, Xerox, Abercrombie & Fitch, Hewlett Packard, and other top companies, this powerful and practical guide gives you the tools you need to turn your experiences into stories that sell.

Very balanced and motivated book
I was a little skeptical going into this book. I've read information before that seemed to suggest replacing sales process with storytelling. I think that's simply not a good idea. This author, explicitly, states that should not be done. Rather, he shows how to augment a sales process with storytelling. And he does it very well. I highly recommend!

Insightful, yet particular
It's one of those books, that you have to be in the correct mood or mindset otherwise you might zone out. The book is full specific examples of breaking down a sentence. Which is great if you have the written book not so easy to follow, when listening too.
That being said it's still a very good book, that offers various ways for anyone looking to become a better speaker/salesperson, to try a frame their stories in a better light.
Overall: good book worth the money, to get the most out of it though buy the briny as well.

Great message, difficult in parts
I really liked this book but there are parts where it doesn't translate to the audio version very well. There are large parts where they reference appendices and tables, which are almost certainly easier to follow in print. You do get most of these as downloadable PDFs though.
The message itself is hugely valuable to anyone in business, i just wish it was a bit more audio friendly.
