Publisher's Summary

I'm structure. She's chaos. I'm practicality. She's spontaneity. I'm off the market. She's Evie’s best friend. Nothing, and I mean nothing, will happen between us.

Jack Cooper’s a devoted single dad, just trying to make it through the morning without burning breakfast.  His life is all about lists and rules and boundaries. (Raising three kids on his own, who can blame him?) Meanwhile, I’m a shameless free spirit looking for signs from the universe.

And Jack? He's a sign. No doubt.

The way his gaze skates across my face, gentle and questioning. The tired circles under his eyes and the hopeful smile quirking his lips. The proud lift of his chin....

Jack's my sign, all right...and he's flippin’ hot. Like total package, scream-his-name-while-biting-a-pillow hot.

But he's sworn off dating. And we're total opposites.

The last thing I want is to further complicate his life.

So what if I melt a little every time he smiles? Who cares if I have a thing for dark hair and blue eyes that caress my body when he looks at me?

All right, so I can’t stop fantasizing about the guy and completely adore his kids. It's not like that should stop me from trying to help the guy out...

...right?

Standard single dad romance, good duet performance

Single dad romances are bread and butter for a lot of reasons. They are normally forbidden with vulnerable heroes that are easy to fall in love with and adorable kids who steal the show. This book has these elements that make a good single dad romance.

Abby Brooks is to new-to-me author so I wasn't sure what to expect. For those who love hot and steamy sex, Shameless is more on the hot one-liners and adorable side on the spicy meter.

Jack is loveable off the jump and in this audiobook, you can contribute that to the performance of Connor Crais. As a father of three, Jack is perfectly imperfect and Crais' work in this captures that in a way that is truly genuine. He meets Amelia is a pretty standard meet-cute scene where the kids kind of overshadow the moment in hilarious fashion. Amelia is a quirky, unconventional, and holistic heroine with her essential oils and manifestations who just moved to a judgey small town with a Gossip Girl style neighbor with a pretty active Facebook following. Once her character starts to introduce herself, as a reader you can kind of see where the story is going. Luckily, audiobook listeners have Stella Hunter to bring Amelia's POV to life, which really adds that that little bit of missing spark to the story.

Moral of the review? Connor and Stella's performance make this book flippin' flappin' good.

Loved it!!

I received an ALC of this book and I loved Jack and Amelia's story... lol especially all of her Woo woo stuff!! Lol

Amelia has moved to Wildrose Landing to live in Evie's house now that's she living next door with Alex, and she has grand plans to open her own shop to sell "good vibrations" (lol) which are essential oils, tshirts, and other items to remove negativity. She is just waiting for the perfect spot on Main St to become available first. Jack is just trying to make it day by day after being suddenly widowed with 3 children under 10 who have decided that "hellion" is their normal attitude.

They meet at the candy store as Jack's kids literally run into her making her purchases go everywhere. As they get to know each other a little more, she offers to help Jack out watching the kids during the day. She helps them calm down and remove their negative energy. Jack is skeptical about it all, but he has to admit that his children are much better behaved.

Finally they give in to their attraction and start at relationship. Unfortunately they don't hide it too well from the kids, and the eldest becomes very upset. He encourages the other two kids to make her life horrible. In addition to this new development, there is a old lady in town who has taken to posting negative things about her and Jack on Facebook (again!! Same lady from Fearless).

I don't want to ruin the story, so I'll stop there and just say that I truly enjoyed this story. Sigh... 😍😍😍. The narrators did an absolutely fantastic job. I typically don't like books in duet, but this one was seamless and very well done.

I wholeheartedly loved this book and the series! Can't wait to Reckless which features Jude and Izzy!

I recieved an ALC for my honest review.

Sweet, small town love story

My first read/listen from Abby Brooks and I really enjoyed this small-town, single dad, opposites attract love story.

Amelia is new to town and meets the Coopers: Jack and his three kids, Garrett, Connor, & Charlie. They are all adjusting to life after the loss of their wife/mother. Jack definitely has his hands full with these three crazy kiddos, but Amelia enters the scene with her bright smile, positive energy (some essential oils and sage too!) and this sunshine-y breath of fresh air is just what the Coopers need!

Abby has a smooth and enjoyable flow to her writing and this story was wonderfully narrated in duet style by Stella Hunter & Connor Crais. These two really brought the emotion, the heart, and overall sense of healing and love in this feel-good story. Connor's warm, velvety voice as daddy Jack (Jackalicious, as Amelia calls him), was so comforting and addicting, this was a very enjoyable listen.

Connor Crais and Stella Hunter are perfection!

Abby Brooks is quickly becoming a favorite author. Add Connor Crais and Stella Hunter and this is easily in my top 2021 listens.

Amelia is new to town. She’s been feeling restless and she’s looking to start over. What better place than where her bestie just moved. When Evie offers up the house she inherited for Amelia to stay in, it’s the perfect situation. She wants to open a shop on Main Street and until the perfect spot opens up, she’s got time to plan and make sure she’s ready to open on a moment’s notice.

Jack is sinking. Since his wife died, he’s struggled to keep his head above water. And it’s showing in the attitudes of his children. They have run off almost every babysitter in town. And then Amelia comes to town. She offers to stay with the kids until he can find someone else.

The longer she watches them, the more the chemistry between her and Jack builds. They need to ignore all of this. The kids have had enough upheaval.

But then they cross the line. And with that line, everything starts to fall apart.

Brace yourself for the epilogue. Stella had me in tears!!

Woo-Woo-Tastic!

Audiobook Review:

I really enjoyed Abby Brook´s sweet, fun, heart-warming story which also tugged on my emotions a few times.

Meet the Coopers, dad Jack, his two sons Garett & Connor plus daughter Charlie, all still adjusting getting over the loss of their wife/mother. Jack has his hands full with his three troublemakers as best behaviour is not on top of their lists. But here comes free-spirited, positive Amelia, who sees the good in everything and everyone, to brighten up their lives with a bit of woo-woo energy. I loved the chemistry between Amelia and Jackalicous, as she lovingly calls him as well as the dynamics with his kids. Amelia is a breath of fresh air and distracts them from their current grief and seems to have them heading towards a new HEA but of course not without some challenges on their journey there.

Abby´s beautiful words are perfectly underlined in Duet narration by Stella Hunter & Connor Crais. Their emotions and the presentation of their characters just felt real. Stella is wonderful as Amelia with her feel-good vibes and positive attitude but also plays on your emotions portraying Amelia´s feelings. Connor´s performance of Jack Cooper is fun, passionate, and emotional. It's so believable it makes your heart melt. I also really enjoy how he delivers humour; it always makes me smirk. But the icing on the cake is their kid voices, you will fall in love with Stella and Connor voicing Jack´s kids as they are just too adorable. Overall, it is a fun feel-good listen with great writing and acting! Woo-Woo-tastic!

Single dad romance with some angst 🤧

I love, LOVE, single dad romances but give us one with some obstinate kiddos and I’m all in! It’s totally different than you normally read. Add in a romance with the babysitter and I couldn’t listen to this audiobook fast enough! This is a book 2 in a series and I’ll let you all know that I haven’t read or listened to book 1 and I was perfectly fine starting at book 2. Amelia and Jack are opposites from the start. Jack a straight-laced accountant with three young kiddos and he’s a widow. Amelia is the “woo-woo” girl that believes in sage smudges and crystals, feelings that run your life.

Jack has been a struggling dad since losing his wife. His 3 kiddos seem hell bent on acting out. They’re struggling too. In comes Amelia, she’s new in town and sees something, feels something, in the family. The kids are having a hard time adjusting to a new relationship and the town seems to have an opinion as well and they aren’t good. The narration from Stella Hunter and Conner Crais was just great. Stella Hunter adds personality and a… pep to her step. Crais was magical as Jack. Crais had to cover a lot of emotions to cover and he did a great job. He covered the emotions and the heart of the family flawlessly.

Sweet, flirty & emotional

Amelia and Jack’s story was sweet, flirty and emotional and I love every moment of it. Amelia is a little lost and decides to follow her best friends lead and move to a small town in New England where she meets Jack widower and a single dad of three. They have instant chemistry when they meet despite being complete opposites. He is a rule follower and she is a free spirit that believe the universe sent her to the small town for him and his kids. I love the relationship that Amelia forms with children and how much she helps heal them and Jack after their loss. This one hit me in all the feels, I laughed, swooned and cried.

Stella Hunter and Connor Crais were the perfect duo for Amelia and Jack. I loved their kids voices and they brought so much more to the story with their voices and captured the emotions of the characters completely. I didn’t want this one to end. Highly recommend this one.

Loved this book

Shameless by Abby Brooks
A Wildrose Landing Romance Book 2
Narration by Connor Crais and Stella Hunter

Absolutely loved this book

Wow what a wonderful audiobook. I think I need to get all of Abby’s books now!

I just spent hours throughly enjoying this book. I fell in love with Jack and his kids. Especially Charlie she stole my heart. And I could totally relate with Amelia’s quirkiness and found her abundance of positive vibes that she just exuded out of herself so endearing that I felt so many emotions.

I smiled and giggled when Amelia had the food fight with the kids. I was crushed when Jack made the decision to pull back from Amelia and their relationship, because he wanted to do what only the most loving dad would do. Then my heart swelled when the kids had the meeting with their dad to get Amelia back. Swoon!

The narration was superb. Connor has just the emotions that really held my heart for Jack all the way through this performance. Stella was also stellar doing the kids and as Amelia. I so enjoyed this single dad story, and the professional narration was what made it so wonderful.

Love Abby Brooks!

I have fallen in love with Abby Brooks! This is my second book I have listened to, and love each one! This one tugged at my heart from the start. Single dad, three kids, woowoo girlfriend, all pulled me in. Jack Cooper has spent the last 18 months dealing with the death of his wife and trying to hold his family together. He needs help and when Amelia comes to town, she may be the exact remedy his family needs. Amelia has had her share of disappointments, and now wants to share her light. But while she is waiting for a storefront, she is taking on the babysitting of Jack's kids. And the fun begins. Food fights, spraying sage, grief, love, and the crazy neighbor lead to an array of emotions you won't expect. I laughed, and smiled, and felt the love and even teared up! If you are looking for a feel good listen, this one is for you!

Stella Hunter and Connor Crais are incredible together. Hunter has a voice that matches Amelia perfectly. Her emotions are spot on, and I love her "woowoo". Plus her kid voices are so realistic, I thought it was a child! Crais has a wam, velvety voice, and his voice as a caring father could not be more real. Love this team, and hope to hear more from them.

An Enthralling & Heartfelt Delight! Fabulous🎧📚🎧

This is a wonderfully delightful small town single dad opposites attract romance novel, the story grabbed both my attention and heartstrings captivating both for the entire book. Abby Brooks is a gifted author, I enjoyed her writing style, the story she created is interesting and original and the characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. I adored the two lead characters, Jack Cooper and Amanda Brown, the secondary character are pretty amazing too, including Jack’s three children Charlie, Connor and Garrett. Jack has his hands full, working and raising his kids on his own, it has not been the easiest of times for him, dealing with the lose of his wife and the children missing their mom and acting out at times. Amelia is new to Wildrose Landing, she plans on opening a business and planting roots in the town. Jack was in town with the kids when they first met Amelia, I loved that scene and Amelia’s bit chin warrior” shirt. Amelia made a good impression on the kids which in turn impressed Jack. With mutual friends in common they soon meet again, Amelia could see that Jack and the kids are still struggling so she figured she’d bring them some trinkets and essential oils that will help calm and destress them. Amelia is big on aromatherapy, it is the type of shop she plans on opening. I loved how she clicked with the kids, how they were drawn to her, also loved the chemistry she and Jack shared, he was skeptical at first but he finally allowed himself to go there. Everything was going great until it wasn’t and Jack had to make a decide how she should handle the situation and of course the strong independent man does not ask for help. I loved how everything played out in this book, the story is beautifully plotted with drama, some charming humor, a touch of angst, lots of heartfelt emotions and a wonderful romance. Abby Brooks, that you for this amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride, I loved every minute of it.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Connor Crais and Stella Hunter are the perfect cast to bring these characters and their story to life. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that fit their character’s persona to a tee, sounding believable in every role they played and just as I pictured the characters to sound. Stella Hunter aced Amelia’s role, as well as the kids, Connor Crais did the same for Jack, playing that role with perfection. Both were equally great with the secondary characters. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and projected them into their performance. These entertaining storytellers are mega talented and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another exceptional listen.

Amelia and Jack!

After his wife passed away Jack has been focused on putting the needs of his three children first and his became a very distant second. He hasn’t even thought about letting another woman into their lives until Amelia comes in like a whirlwind and shows him what they have been missing.

Amelia has recently moved to town to open her own business and her spirited and animated personality brings energy wherever she goes. Although there are some challenges to overcome, she is exactly who Jack and his children need in their lives.

Amelia and Jack take us on an emotional and touching journey as they fight for the happiness they both deserve. This is a story about new beginnings, overcoming the past and finding love where you least expect it. The performance of the narrators draw you in and have you feeling what they feel which only makes the story that much more compelling.

Just enough drama to make the HEA more beautiful

It was cute, but not devoid of deeper emotions.

I totally dig the whole family setting, with the nice but disturbed children and their devoted father whom they’re driving crazy–as well as a dozen babysitters–suddenly falling in like with the weirdo nanny. That made for fun scenes, but also a lot of domestic cuteness. And it brought more tensed moments when everything turned sour.

There were a lot of interaction with other characters too. Though the story was clearly focused on Amelia and Jack–and the kids–we see a lot of Jack with his friends, as well as Amelia with friends and not-so-friends. We get a feel of the small town where everyone stick their nose in everyone’s business, and of how judgemental people can do a lot of bad.

The couple was both cute and sexy, though, as they admit themselves, their relationship progresses really fast. Too fast. They let their own insecurities and past tragedies ruin it, and the confrontation was heartbreaking. The grand gesture though? And the epilogue? Totally worth the pain you’ll feel before.

The narrators were perfect for the characters and the atmosphere of the whole story, even better in duet. You hear the smile in their voices when they’re happy, and the tension in the sadder moments. A good book, with just enough drama to make the happily ever after more beautiful.
