Publisher's Summary

Using forgeries and bogus identities, Matthew B. Cox - one of the most ingenious con men in history - bilked America’s biggest banks out of millions. Despite numerous encounters with bank security, state and federal authorities, Cox narrowly, and quite luckily, avoided capture for years. Eventually, he topped the U.S. Secret Service’s most wanted list, and led the U.S. Marshals, FBI, and the Secret Service on a three-year-chase, while jet-setting around the world with his attractive female accomplices.

Cox has been declared “one of the most prolific mortgage fraud con artists of all time”, by CNBC’s American Greed. Bloomberg Businessweek called him “the mortgage industry’s worst nightmare”, while Dateline NBC described Cox as “a gifted forger and silver tongued liar”. Playboy magazine proclaimed, “His scam was real estate fraud, and he was the best”.

Shark in the Housing Pool is Cox’s exhilarating, first-person account, of his stranger-than-fiction story.

obligatory 5 star.

Mat had caught my attention from koncrete's podcast. And since then has offered countless hours of entertainment throughout his online presence. YouTube, audio books, podcasts, etc.
The five star review is not only deserved, but and obligation. I promised mat I'd buy a book and leave a review. this was not a guaranteed 5 star, but he earned it over the corse of the book.
best of luck to you Matt, I know you read the comments.

Awesome! Matt Cox is a fascinating human having led a roller coaster life.

I loved hearing the intimate details of Matt’s time before he was on the run and of course more so, while on the run as the Secret Service’s #1 Most Wanted. His autobiography also points out how the media and even members of the justice system tell a story so far from the truth (or in the case of representatives of the law) misconstrue, exaggerate and just plain lie to the public and the people they serve, US.
So although Matt Cox is certainly responsible for his actions as a con man, it’s interesting to note how much of a CON JOB members of the media and justice officials pull on everyday Americans all too often.
Sharks v Sharks.
Run Matt, Run!

Loved it!

I first discovered Matt Cox on the Koncrete podcast where he told his story...I've probably listened to that podcast 4 times already. His story is fascinating and exciting, the kind of situation where you are "rooting" for the bad guy all along. But in this case it's real, and the "bad guy" got caught...He did his time and came out with a new talent of writing true crime stories. It was obvious if I enjoyed the 2 hour podcast, I would surely enjoy hearing the "whole story" from him in this book. And I definitely did! Matt is terrific writer and story-teller...Simply waiting for his other books to make their way to audible. And hoping also that one day these stories will ultimately become movies. I usually use audible for education/informative books, not stories (fiction or non-fiction) but in this case I was so intrigued by his story and impressed by his other works that I bought/downloaded this as well. If you like true crime, you'll love this...And if you simply like a good book/story that happens to be true, you'll also like!

You will be hooked!

I originally stumbled across Matt cox after he did his first podcast in n Koncrete. I never thought that months later I would still be hooked on this mans story. This book was great because Matt went into all the details that had to be left out of the podcast. Like the Koncrete podcast I can only in shine I will listen to this book over and over until i know it word for word. Thangs again Matt for your great work!

10/10

Personally, I’m not much of a reader hence why I bought the audio book. The story kept you hooked and the reader captured it incredibly. Only disappointed that it didn’t last longer, will be reading more of his books.
