Publisher's Summary

Ever since Draylah Omari was 16 years old, it seemed like life had only dealt her a bad hand. Tragedies and betrayal have taken the people she loved most, including her best friend of more than a decade, Glory. After finding out her boyfriend, Lue, who was once her savior, is nothing but a wolf in sheep's clothing, Draylah decides to lock her heart up and focus only on her half-finished brow bar. She's no longer in the mood to weather any storms, especially ones that are brought on by a man. But little does Draylah know, a whirlwind is headed her way, it's named Ricky AK, and she's about to get caught up in it.

Ricky AK, a rapper from South Central Los Angeles, is a thoroughbred gangster who just happens to have an impeccable flow. The streets are embedded in his blood, making the sexy young man brash, forward, insensitive, and extremely heartless. When it comes to getting his deserved respect, Ricky AK will put a man, woman, or child in their place with no problem. Brought up by his smooth and no-good grandfather due to his mother being murdered and his grandparents divorcing, Ricky AK learned young that being a woman's knight in shining armor wasn't in his DNA, and he was perfectly content with that. That is until he runs across the beautiful Draylah, who although is smitten with the unfeeling rapper, isn't up for taking his mess ascribed to her past heartbreaks. And even Ricky himself isn't quite ready to feel.

In this hood love story dripping with lies, treachery, secrets, and plenty of deceit, will the uncaring rapper from a cold upbringing be able to win over the beautiful but broken woman? Or will Draylah see the disturbingly charming Ricky AK for what he is, early enough to safeguard her heart from yet another fracture? But what's a woman to do when's she's got it so bad for a man that she doesn't even understand it herself?

Narrators took away from a great story!

So I love this series! However, Ricky’s narrator sounded like he was congested. Although fine, Drayla’s narrator sounds like Angela Bassett. Too mature for Drayla. And if the narrators can go back and review. The mispronunciation of words like “maniacal” is really distracting. Kamar’s narrator needed to be Ricky AK. And Bia could’ve been Drayla. The narrators take away from such a great story!

It was good but.....

The ending really pissed me off. The author needs to hurry up and get the second book done. I need do know what happens next. I will say it was a good book.

Unbelievable Narrators!

Narrators simply sound too mature for the characters. It was hard to to get through. Storyline was okay not really a fan of women acting thirsty.

Good book

I enjoyed the characters and the plot this far, I just don’t care for the narrators, which is unfortunately common in many urban fiction audiobooks.

What???

I had to return this book because who does this?!? Who is going to let a nigga claim to their girl and what female is going to be okay with it! Ricky is a piece of crap and , I think, it was mostly his attitude that steered me in a different direction!

Stupid.

OK first let me just say Drea is dumb. You are in love with someone who you see abuse women and people for no reason. And Ricky is also very disrespectful and doesn’t even take her seriously. So thank you for making a character who is supposed to have things going well for her be stupid and immature over a reckless crazy man. It’s just like this book was made for a teenager. The only reason why I’m continuing the book because I like Caitlin and Bia character and some of the other characters. But the two main characters are childish immature and crazy. It seems like it would be more for a teenager
