Features an Audible Exclusive: The Making of Abbott Elementary

“In She Memes Well, Quinta gives more than a peek behind the curtain. She invites us in, lets us poke around and offers a balm for our aching souls. She moves beyond the jokes into something much deeper, something we may not recognize we need. She is the friend, sister, lover, cool co-worker we all wished we had.” (Gabrielle Union, actress and New York Times best-selling author of We’re Going to Need More Wine)

From comedian Quinta Brunson (creator and star of Abbott Elementary) comes a deeply personal and funny collection of essays about trying to make it when you're struggling, the importance of staying true to your roots, and how she's redefined humor online. This special Audible edition includes never-before-heard details about the making of Abbott Elementary, the cast, the writers' room, and how the show inadvertently created hundreds of new roles for young Black actors.

Quinta Brunson is a master at breaking the internet. Before having any traditional background in media, her humorous videos were the first to go viral on Instagram’s platform. From there, Brunson’s wryly observant POV helped cement her status in the comedy world at large, with roles on HBO, Netflix, ABC, Adult Swim, BuzzFeed, the CW, and Comedy Central. Now, Brunson is bringing her comedic chops to the page in She Memes Well, an earnest, laugh-out-loud collection about this unusual road to notoriety.

In her debut essay collection, Quinta applies her trademark humor and heart to discuss what it was like to go from a girl who loved the World Wide Web to a girl whose face launched a thousand memes. With anecdotes that range from the ridiculous—like the time she decided to go clubbing wearing an outfit she describes as "Gary Coleman meets metrosexual pirate"—to more heartfelt material about her struggles with depression, Quinta's voice is entirely authentic and eminently enjoyable. With its intimate tone and hilarious moments, She Memes Well will make you feel as if you're sitting down with your chillest, funniest friend.

That moment you know you’re a TEACHER…

I came to this book because of Abbott Elementary, I listened all the way through because of you and your story. I am a teacher. Thirty years in the field still somewhere between Janine and Barbara. My teacher moment was much like Janine’s. So similar that watching the show kinda scared me to see it playing out on my TV. I’ve worked with EVERY character on your show and that makes this show home for me. Leaving the classroom some 18 years ago, this show brings me so much joy. I can get on the phone and reminisce with my teacher friends, “Remember that time when …,” but hearing your journey to success made Abbott Elementary seem like and even more special place to hang out once a week. Your story is a true testament to the non-conventional journey to a career. A place that shows that determination is still the determining factor. That’s what scares the Baby Boomers! They were raised by survivors of the Great Depression and know that “things” can disappear in the blink of an eye. Thank you for your story, your hope, your determination. Awesome job!

Loveeeeee Quinta!

Hilarious, genuine, and refreshing read..
I binge watched Abbot and remembered the "a larrrrrge" viral moment, I just had to learn more about her.

It was nice to hear about everything her family was instead of another book about what someone's family wasn't.

Quinta is funny, relatable, and authentically herself. She took me down memory lane with Quinta's Classics.

Loved her little chuckles, loved the entire book.

Thoughtful & Funny

I have been a Quinta B. fan since her YouTube days and I love that she is continuing her success in several other arenas. This book is insightful, inspirational, fun and funny. May she continue to have the kind of life where she has multiple memoirs like Maya Angelou but for a funny sister with a super loving family 😄

Quinta Be Quinta-ing!!!!!!

This book has been on my Goodreads reading list for a minute and one of the first books I looked for on Audible was Quinta's "She Memes Well!!" I was so excited when I saw she finally released an audio version! Like many, her show "Abbot Elementary" was what put me on to her. I loved hearing the story of how she got into comedy and hearing about the things that make her her. I love the honesty and transparency. She's a great storyteller, so it makes sense that she does a stellar job at telling her own. I love the Audible extra treat of hearing about the show and the writer's room. As a Black writer myself, I found her story refreshing and inspiring. I still plan to buy a physical version, and I really appreciate this Audible book. A must read for anyone who loves Quinta and her comedy.

Quinta brunson is phenomenal

I can't wait to see what she does next. I hope there's another book in like 5 years or less. so far I've loved everything she's been in and done. thank you for this glimpse into your personal life and mind. My only complaint is that I didn't want it to end. and my favorite part was the epilogue.
