From the outside, my marriage to Zach was perfect: a dream home, a perfect baby girl, and passionate, all-consuming love. But as I cradle my gorgeous baby, I have to accept that the husband who used to be my everything has changed. At first, it was little things: expecting me to keep to a strict schedule, picking out my clothes for me. Now, he controls every aspect of my life: from how much money I have, to when I leave the house, and who I can see. I know deep down, only one of us will make it out of this marriage alive.

The day my path crossed with Simon Fox I thought I’d already lost everything, but then he almost ran me off the road with his flash car and belittling jibes. The men in my life had undermined me for too long. Enough was enough. Fuelled by alcohol and the desire to get even, I decided a spot of petty vandalism would make me feel a whole lot better. Wrong. Very wrong. I hadn’t realised that Simon Fox was not a man to be messed with.

Publisher's Summary
From the author of It’s Always the Husband comes a riveting new suspense audiobook about privilege, power, and what happens when we let ambition take control.
For Rose Enright, enrolling in a prestigious New England boarding school is the opportunity of a lifetime. But for Rose’s vulnerable twin sister Bel, Odell Academy is a place of temptation and danger. When Bel falls in with a crowd of wild rich kids who pressure her into hazing Rose, the sisters’ relationship is shattered. Rose turns to her dorm mother, Sarah Donovan, for advice. But Bel turns to Sarah’s husband Heath, a charismatic and ambitious teacher. Is Heath trying to help Bel or take advantage of her? In a world of privilege, seduction, and manipulation, only one sister will live to tell the truth.
In an audiobook full of twists, turns, and dark secrets, Michele Campbell once again proves her skill at crafting intricately spun and completely compelling plots.
Critic Reviews
"Campbell’s skillful characterization and her shocking final twist make this follow-up to It’s Always the Husband well worthwhile. Readers who enjoyed Simone St. James’ boarding-school mystery, The Broken Girls, should give this a try." (Booklist)
“A creepy thriller that has notes of Mean Girls and The Secret History.” (Refinery29)
"[A] mystery with teeth - and nails." (New York Times Book Review)

Tried to be Big Little Lies
Honestly, not a great book. The plot was just interesting enough to keep me involved but was also extremely predictable. The writing was even worse. I rolled my eyes so many times at both the twins and Sarah’s characters. The women in this book had next to no personality outside of the men in their life. The relationships were unrealistic and superficial. The epilogue resolved almost nothing, except providing the smallest insight into the fact that the killer was a bad person all along... but that could have been explored way more. Overall, I’d tell you to read Big Little Lies over this knockoff version.

Degrassi rated R
Started off painfully slow, then added lots of exaggerated drama and phony dialogue. There were parts that seemed to stretch the story unnecessarily. It didn't do a great job of getting the reader to care for any of the characters. - Triple L BookClub

Unbearably and Needlessly Long!
The characters were one-dimensional, boring, difficult to like, and ultimately failed to pull me into the story. I kept listening in the hopes of something better - but less than halfway through the book I became increasingly annoyed with the redundancy of the situations. Again, I kept listening, I as I had read many good reviews and hoped that ‘surely, it will get better, any moment’.... it did not!
The ending was ridiculous, as was the epilogue.
The performance was good, but the story just overshadowed the narrator.
Even in all of that, I can’t even bring myself to say I didn’t like the writing style. I think I mostly felt cheated by the amount of time spent on a book that never reached the desk of a good editor whose author didn’t know how to end this book.
I’m unsure, but I don’t think I’ve ever given a one-star review before - not even with the books I return.

Secrets, Murder and betrayal
She was the quiet one ⭐️
Bell and Rose are new the Odell Academy and Bell instantly starts casuing trouble.
Bell Falls in love with a teacher and he’s married in the head of their house and he starts having sex with her and Rose doesn’t like that. Because one gross. Two. he’s a teacher. three he’s married.
Anyways Rose is the good girl and doesn’t know what to do when her sister starts getting in with the wrong crowd and causing trouble. But Bell really doesn’t seem to care about what she’s doing or who she’s doing it with because she thinks that she’s right that she’s in control that she can get away with murder.
The slipper incident. Although horrible what those children did, every time it was referenced i couldnt help bt laugh. The slipper incident the slipper incident!
So in the beginning we are teased with a death between one of the sisters but as we jump back-and-forth in time we are mainly following rows in Bell in school and leading up to the incident but then we do jump forward in time a little bit to see the case files and the court dates and things like that which I thought were nice little tidbits of what’s to come. So we are tease that one of the sisters dies and we’re not really sure up until they explain what happens who dies who killed them because it starts to look like a lot of people have motive for murder which I enjoyed not knowing and having that suspense added to it.
It was a good book. And easy book. I listen to it and the narrator was a little bit too much. It was a lot of high school drama which obviously in a YA book you’re going to get a lot of that so right off the bat it wasnt gonna be five stars. But it kept me intrigued and kept me wanting to know more and I like twins in books and murder in books and it was enjoyable.
But the moment we know who the killer is and which twin is killed it was dragged on. There is only so much you can do to keep the suspense once the killer is reveal seonc to killing everyone that knows which she didnt do. But still good.

LOVED IT!
Great thriller! Not many books hook me from the very start; this book did just that! From start to the literal finish! I loved the flow of the unfolding events, the well-developed characters, the excitement and the suspense. And..….well of course, the twists and turns. Just when you think it’s all figured out you are so wrong; then you think oh I know now, nope wrong again!. The ending was WHOA! I really didn’t see that coming. I enjoyed this book soooo much that I read/listened to it twice in a row. The narrator was BRILLIANT as always! This is going on my FAV list!

Sophomore book better than the first
Like her first book this starts slow with a lot of backstory. However once you get all the character development phases done you realize that it served a purpose. Every character mentioned matters and it all plays out. What starts as a high school prank contest spirals out of control as bullying and lifetime consequences play out from one event to the next. This mystery thriller had my heart racing into the conclusion of the novel. It is more than your average whodunnit.
Hate to leave references to other novels but had a lot of qualities of Girl on the Train.
