Story
Becky still adores the traditions of Christmas: Her parents host, carols play on repeat, her mother pretends she made the Christmas pudding, and the neighbors come ’round for sherry in their terrible holiday sweaters. Things are looking cheerier than ever, until Becky’s parents announce they’re moving to ultra-trendy Shoreditch - unable to resist the draw of craft beer and smashed avocados - and ask Becky if she’ll host this year. What could possibly go wrong?

It’s been almost two years since Effie’s beloved parents got divorced, destroying the image of the happy, loving childhood she thought she had. Since then, she’s become estranged from her father and embarked on a feud with his hot (and much younger) girlfriend, Krista. And now, more earth-shattering news: They’ve sold Greenoaks, the rambling Victorian country house Effie has always called home.

Really fun book!

Publisher's Summary
Number-one New York Times best-selling author Sophie Kinsella returns with another laugh-out-loud Becky Brandon (née Bloomwood) adventure: a hilarious road trip through the American West to Las Vegas.
Becky is on a major rescue mission through the American West to Las Vegas! Her father has vanished from Los Angeles on a mysterious quest with the husband of Becky’s best friend, Suze. Becky’s mum is hysterical; Suze is flat-out desperate. Worse, Becky must tolerate an enemy along for the ride, who she's convinced is up to no good.
Determined to get to the bottom of why her dad has disappeared, help Suze, contain the dreaded Alicia, and reunite her fractured family, Becky knows she must marshal all her trademark ingenuity. The result: her most outrageous and daring plan yet!
But just when her family needs her more than ever, can Becky pull it off?
Praise for Shopaholic to the Rescue:
“Full of gags, sparkling dialogue and beautifully drawn characters.... It’s a real treat to be reunited with the eminently loveable, incredibly ditzy and fiercely loyal Shopaholic protagonist Becky Brandon (née Bloomwood).” (Daily Mail)
“Will Bex and best friend Suze ever make up? Will Becky’s old nemesis, banker Derek Smeath, finish his memoir? Why can’t our beloved Shopaholic seem to spend any money, even on a $2.50 pencil?... This is escapism that will make you giggle out loud.” (USA Today)
“Readers can’t help but be delighted. Kinsella never once loses Becky’s voice and heart, which is one of the joys of the Shopaholic series.” (Publishers Weekly)
“Full of Becky’s outrageous ideas, including a heist à la Ocean’s Eleven, this novel does not disappoint.... Kinsella adds a mystery and twists and turns at every corner in this latest work while maintaining Becky’s signature voice.” (Library Journal)

Best shopaholic story yet
When I read the last book before this one, I was really disappointed at Becky's character as well as the way it ended. This book totally made up for it though. I love how Becky is more grown up in this book, as well as the plot of the story. Don't let the previous book stop you from reading this one. It's so good. This book was more on track with the previous books in the series, I was not a fan of the last book, but this really shows how Becky has grown, and the Humor is just as great as before. I loved how this book was more focused on her helping to fix things with others, rather than fixing scrapes she's gotten herself into. This is definitely a better change for character development and growth.

Always great to hear a Becky story...
Always great to revisit Becky et al. But this round felt a little played out. Hated the cliffhanger in the last book and was looking forward to this one. As always, a fun story but a little far fetched, well more then usual.

Disappointing
I have listened to all of Sophie Kinsella's novels and have loved them. My daughter and I love listening on road trips. Unfortunately, This last Shopaholic installment was not the least bit humorous and did not hold our attention, as the usually hilarious story lines and hijinks were missing. We were bored with the story and switched to a different book on our most recent trip.

Cute story, bad accents.
It took me awhile to get into this book. Overall, I really enjoyed it. My only real issue is with the accents. Clearly this narrator doesn't know the characters. Danny is American, so why does he speak with a British accent? Elenore has done away with her English accent, so why does she still have one? Why does every American sound like an old man?

Thanks for laughs Becky! Now let's call it good.
This was definitely my least favorite of all of the Shopaholic books. I am hopeful this is the final installment because I think it's gotten to the point where it's gone on too long and it's gotten not so good. I felt like this story in particular went on and on and on and personally, I was ready for it to end when it still had four hours left. I guess I'm just kind of sick of it all because I've been reading these books for so long and they've progressively gotten worse for me with each one after Shopaholic and Baby. The first five books are by FAR the best and I feel like the later novels just don't measure up to them.
I will say that I really enjoyed Clare Corbett's performance. She did her best to make each character unique and for the most part, she did really well. I thought some of her voices for the male characters were sort of cringe but with a book like this, it adds to the humor so I was fine with it. Thankful for her, otherwise honestly I'm doubtful I would've finished, despite having read the other eight books in the series. I was bored. In a nutshell, I was bored. And I was glad when it was over.
That being said, I have been a fan of Sophie Kinsella for years. I've read this whole series as well as some of her other stories under this name and those under her other name, Madeline Wickham. I just think with this particular series, it's time for it to be done. It had a good run, but lets end it now because this one was a stinker, in my humble opinion. I think Becky has run out of steam...
Side note, I DID read Christmas Shopaholic and REALLY enjoyed it. Way more than this one.

One of Ms. Kinsella’s weakest stories
The storyline was tedious, not particularly funny, characters poorly developed and male voices by narrator were not good. Very disappointing, I’m afraid, particularly since I generally live Sophie Kinsella’s books.
