Joe Buck is on a collision course with a life-altering event. He’ll need to rely on his skills to survive the catastrophic EMP about to unfold as he’s working behind the scenes at his blue collar job at the Super Bowl. Breakout country singer and small-town girl Lexi Carter is on the same trajectory. She has just finished singing a well-received rendition of the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. The crowd is raucous. The performances were meticulously rehearsed, finely tuned down to the second, and should have gone off without a hitch. Except for one surprise glitch: an EMP.

This makes it difficult for a post-apocalyptic warrior to find work. Thankfully, an army full of killers is making its way to the peaceful town and plans to raze it to the ground. Only a fully trained post-apocalyptic nomadic warrior can stop them.

It was just a random mutation - one of a billion that happen in viruses every day. But this one was different. It exploded out of Somalia and spread across the oceans before anybody thought to look up from their cell phones to see what was going on. The infected breathed the virus into the air around them, spreading it through the cities faster than anyone thought possible. Hospitals were overwhelmed. Police lines crumbled. Quarantine sites disintegrated. Cities started to collapse.

The Alt Apocalypse is the ground-breaking, genre-bending series from Tom Abrahams. It explores survival under the most extreme circumstances, but with a twist (and no cliff-hangers). This series, which can be listened to in any order, features the same core characters in each complete story. But every book dunks them into a new, alternate apocalypse; a nuclear holocaust, an earthquake, a flood, a wildfire, a hurricane, a plague, and even zombies.

It started with bright lights; a new medical technology, promising to eradicate all human ills. History of blood clots? Cholesterol clogging up the old ticker? There was a nanobot for that. It wasn’t cheap of course, and everyone knew that new technology had bugs in it. But hey, why not let the rich be the guinea pigs for once? Fast-forward a year, and the one percent began dying en masse. The nanobots had evolved to view aging as a virus and were reacting by shutting down the host.

Love binging this series
These are part of a series and while individual characters’ story arcs diverge after the 1st book, Five Roads to Texas – they also start to come back together in some ways. Definitely best to listen to them in order (and all of them!). Also, this review may contain spoilers to previous books.
I’m really into this series. It continues to be a great mix of emotions, action, and thriller. The last we heard about Sarah & Charlie Washburn, they were escaping the collapsing Beaumont Medical Center with a few others. Little do they know that Leonard’s decision to grab a souvenir is going to lead to the fight of their lives.
A lot less Zombie fighting and more Good v Evil. No complaints. I liked all the perspectives in this one – especially the Iranian soldiers. It adds so much depth to the story and provides a lot of insight into many “combat” scenes.
As always, I’m crushed by those that are lost. There are no “red shirts” in these stories. Never know who is going to survive.
I’m looking forward to catching up with Sydney in book 6, The Road to Hell.
Narration:
Andrew B Wehrlen continues to do a great job with the narration. Lots of voices, accents, emotions to work with. Consistent and smooth transition between characters. He makes these so easy to binge.

Still a very good series.
Even thou i hate storys when the author has characters do or dont do very obvious things like have a guy guard or stop an wait or make sure you have an escape plan . This series up till now was not full of complete idiotic actions but in this book you will find several major laps of judgment that result in several deaths an then they continue on as if its no big deal only to repeat another moronic move . i don't know why the author went this route but i hope he doesn't continue with it.

This is yet another great addition to the series. The narration is done very well. I really enjoy the complexity and character depth the author puts into this series. I find that I care what happens to them and really enjoy following their lives during the zombie apocalypse. I think this would make a spectacular TV series if done right. On to the next book!

Andrew B Wehrlen is such an amazing narrator. I am so glad he is doing this series.
This story has so many angles, so many twists & turns and many characters. I am glad the series is done in installments focusing on different groups and plots. I mixed them up and read book six before this one but it didn’t spoil anything for me. If you like zombie books that don’t necessarily focus in just the zombies then you will love this one.
I highly recommend this series & the audio books!

One of the best of the series! Great Story!!!
This story is set in the Five Roads to Texas Universe. In this world, a ZomPoc Virus has been released and is wiping out the world. Sarah Washburn, her Father in law, and Leonard escaped from Beaumont Medical Center and have traveled back to the Isolated Colorado high country on the Ute Reservation. While escaping from Beaumont Medical Center, Leonard grabbed a package. This package contained all of Dr. Sanjay’s work on the virus responsible for the zombie apocalypse. Now Sarah’s crew is being perused by Iranian mercenaries.
The story holds the listener's attention with action and plenty of danger for the main characters. In this universe, the stories are darker and the good guys do not always win. This makes for some really great listening. This is really a fun universe to explore as a listener. This time around the greater danger for the main characters is other humans. The zombies are still a danger but they don’t wield weapons. This story really opens up the whole world of this universe with its story arc.
The narration is provided by Andrew B. Wehrlen. Mr. Wehrlen brings a strong skilled vocal quality to each audio production. His narration of Sarah and the people with her in this story really gets the listener invested in this new addition to the Five Roads World. The production quality of this audiobook is also the highest quality. I heard no problems during the entire performance. There were not any detectable flaws that I was able to hear during the entire performance such as loops, breaks, or buzzing. The production was crisp and clear. AJ Powers delivered an excellent audiobook production. I highly recommend this audiobook and series. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
