Story
It was his first big murder case - and one of the bloodiest and most violent crimes LAPD detective Danny McGuire would ever encounter. Andrew Jakes, an elderly multimillionaire art dealer, had been brutally murdered in his Hollywood home, his lifeless body tied to his naked young wife. Raped and beaten, the lovely Angela Jakes had barely survived the attack herself. Gazing into her deep, soulful eyes, Danny swore that he'd find the psychopath behind this barbarous act.

The first entry in Leslie Stewart's diary read: "Dear Diary; This morning I met the man I am going to marry." It was simple, optimistic statement, without the slightest portent of the dramatic chain of events that was about to occur. The Best Laid Plans takes listeners inside two of America's most powerful and ruthless institutions: the world of politics with it's scandals, corruption, and cover-ups; and that of newspaper publishing, where it is not unusual to use the power of the press to destroy lives - or bring down heads of state - in pursuit of a story or to settle a score.

Publisher's Summary
New York Times best-selling author Tilly Bagshawe, continuing the enduring legacy of number one best-selling suspense author Sidney Sheldon, is back with a new tale of glamour, suspense, and unexpected twists in Sidney Sheldon’s A Silent Widow.
A young American au pair, Charlotte Clancy, vanishes without a trace in Mexico City. The case is left cold, but its legacy will be devastating.
A decade later, Los Angeles is shaken by a spate of violent murders. Psychologist Nikki Roberts is the common link between the victims, her patients at the heart of this treacherous web. When someone makes an attempt on Nikki’s life, it’s clear she is a marked woman.
Nikki makes a living out of reading people, drawing out their secrets, but the key to this shocking pattern eludes her. With the police at a dead end, Nikki drafts Derek Williams, a PI who isn’t afraid to put his hand into the hornet’s nest. Williams was thwarted in the notorious Charlotte Clancy case all those years ago, but what he unearths in LA—and the mention of one name in particular - leaves him cold...and takes him on a dangerous path into the past.
A shadowy manipulator has brought his deadly game to the streets of LA. In a crime spanning generations, it seems Nikki Roberts knows far too much—and a ruthless killer knows the price of her silence.
In this crooked city, where enemies and friends are one and the same, Nikki must be the master of her own escape.

Excellent title!
This was a great title! I love Sidney Sheldon mysteries. They are full of suspense and crazy storylines that a confuse you initially, but work out in complicated endings that wow the reader. This was the first audiobook of Sheldon’s that I’ve listened to, and I truly enjoyed it.
My only criticism is of the tone/dialect chosen to voice the African American characters. As an African American woman, I found the way that some of the characters - namely Trey’s mother and grandmother — were voiced as slightly offensive and stereotypical. Other than that, it definitely was a great read.

Worth a read, but I expected better out of Tilly
Just a”meh” read. Definitely too mediocre to part of the, otherwise excellently written, Sidney Sheldon Series she has penned. Also, while I am a huge Tilly Bagshawe fan, would it kill her to put some blacks in positions of influence in some of her books? Instead of relegated to the same old hard-knocks. Poverty stricken backgrounds and/or sassy black administrator positions. No point of even putting them in the story at all if their roles in her stories are always gonna be so minor. Just my two cents; but I will likely still read her stuff if she comes out with more.

The silent widow
I enjoyed this book as it started, but I literally have about two hours left and I’m so through with waiting. The storyline is far too long, with too many characters, and overall just lost any momentum or suspense or any interesting drama. Actually reviewing now and not even going to listen till the end because I simply cannot stand another minute.

Don't wast your money
If you are a fan of Sidney Sheldon then you read this book, this is the same story as The Naked Face. To the point of the therapist
lending the rain coat out and the person getting killed by mistake. The killer is after Dr. because his wife is seeing the Dr. wife's husband is career criminal, afraid wife is telling to much, yada yada yada. With all the stories the mind can make up why steal a already told story? Read the Naked Face a much better story.

The local cops haven't seen anything like this, but Jesse's L.A. past has made him all too familiar with floaters. This girl hadn't committed suicide; she hadn't been drowned; she'd been shot and dumped, discarded like trash. Before long it becomes clear that she had a taste for the wild life; and her own parents can't be bothered to report her missing, or even admit that she once was a child of theirs. All Jesse has to go on is a young man's school ring on a gold chain, and a hunch or two.

Story
The local cops haven't seen anything like this, but Jesse's L.A. past has made him all too familiar with floaters. This girl hadn't committed suicide; she hadn't been drowned; she'd been shot and dumped, discarded like trash. Before long it becomes clear that she had a taste for the wild life; and her own parents can't be bothered to report her missing, or even admit that she once was a child of theirs. All Jesse has to go on is a young man's school ring on a gold chain, and a hunch or two.

After a routine monthly upload of her consciousness - stored for that inevitable transition - something goes wrong. When Con wakes up in the clinic, it’s eighteen months later. Her recent memories are missing. Her original, she’s told, is dead.
