On his last combat deployment, Lt. Cmdr. James Reece's entire team was killed in an ambush that also claimed the lives of the aircrew sent in to rescue them. But when those dearest to him are murdered on the day of his homecoming, Reece discovers that this was not an act of war by a foreign enemy but a conspiracy that runs to the highest levels of government. Publisher's Summary
It's been years since the Gray Man's first mission, but the trouble's just getting started in the latest entry in the number one New York Times best-selling series.
Before he was the Gray Man, Court Gentry was Sierra Six, the junior member of a CIA action team.
In their first mission, they took out a terrorist leader, at a terrible price. Years have passed. The Gray Man is on a simple mission when he sees a ghost: the long-dead terrorist, but he's remarkably energetic for a dead man.
A decade of time hasn't changed the Gray Man. He isn't one to leave a job unfinished or a blood debt unpaid.

WOW!!! PERFECTION!!!!
Seriously, this latest installment to the Gray Man series is just brilliant. Every time Mark Greaney comes out with a new novel I try not to get my hopes up but inevitably I do. Fortunately for me I am always rewarded with a captivating story that takes hold at the start and doesn’t let go until the end…. And even then it stays with you. I don’t know about anyone else but I generally listen to the Gray Man books more than once.
This book takes place in two time lines. The present and 12 years in the past. Both center around the hunt for a particularly heinous terrorist. 12 years ago it was thought by the CIA that he had been killed. Present day finds Court coming face to face with him while on another job.
This book action packed and moves along at a fast pace. If you get distracted for even a moment you must rewind or you might miss something.
Jay Snyder is one my favorite narrators. His performance is flawless.
This book has my VERY HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.

Great Conception. Lousy Conclusion.
Love the Gray Man.
Half of Sierra Six is great. However, the other half is not great. The ‘12 years ago’ plot line is fantastic, but the ‘Mumbai’ plot line is unoriginal and trite. The book’s conclusion is lousy — the epitome of lazy writing.
So, half the book is spectacular and half the book is at best just meh. Snyder’s narration is superb, as usual.

“12 Years Ago” Would Have Been A Great Book
Flashbacks are an awful mechanism to tell a story. I listen in short time segments while traveling. I often have to rewind to remember which timeframe I’m listening to. Very distracting.
Either timeframe, now or 12 years ago would have been a great listen…but not both in the same book.
The narration by Jay Snyder is another reason I choose Greaney books. He does a great job as always.

The first man through the door … non-stop action throughout, and even better the way Greaney pivots between the present and 12 years ago. I couldn't put it down and am ready for the next one. The BEST book so far in 2022!

Decent
I think this is probably my least favorite one so far. It was entertaining and ok story but the back and forth timeline every couple of chapters just made this book feel like a filler. There was some interesting back story and all but doesn’t feel as well done as the rest of the series. It’s half prequel half fill until the next story. All in all I would still recommend but it’s not an edge of the seat thriller by any means.

A peek behind the curtain
Loved this book. I had always wondered about the things Court went through in his early days of his career. This book is a wonderful look into the events and challenges he went through that made him into the man he is in present day. And the fact this book leaves the series open to yet another entry is so exciting!

Another blockbuster
Sierra Six solidifies Mr. Greaney’s position as one of the best action writers of our generation. I especially love the continued character development for our hero, Court , and the fact that we learned about his beginnings.
Talented voiceover artist and narator Jay Snyder perfectly captures the intensity and urgency of Sierra Six, just like he did with all the other books in this awesome series.
He is the perfect narrator to portray the unstoppable Court Gentry. Jay keeps the listener glued to the Airpods for hours on end. Jay Snyder handles accents very well, he gives different voices to the characters and keeps it easy for the listener to differentiate between them.
With Sierra Six you can feel the intensity of the action and you’ll hold your breath many times during the performance.
Mark Greaney delivers another blockbuster international thriller with Sierra Six and I highly recommend all his novels to those who love unputdownable espionage and action books.
Fans of Tom Clancy, Vince Flynn and Robert Ludlum will appreciate Mr. Greaney’s works tremendously.

Dripping dopamine
Mark Greaney has worked out a great formula to drip little bits of story dopamine at regular intervals to maintain engagement. This 15 hour book went by in much less than that, or so it seemed.
Lots of twists. Some improbable close shave stuff but it’s a story after all, so that’s ok.
As ever Jay S does a great range of macho America accents. Some of his other accents are off target, though his Indian is better than his South African (which is frankly hilarious).
Have run out of Gray man books now. I guess there will be another along fairly soon though. The author has a good thing going on

The worst part about being addicted to the Gray Man books is waiting for the next book release.
Mark Greaney’s writing skills easily place him at the head of this genre and Jay Snyder is the perfect match to bring the characters to life.

Awesome book!
I listened to this over 2 to 3 days whilst working from home - as with other comments the two storylines running side by side was gripping - written so well its easy to follow and listen to!
Gray Man and Greaney at their best!!

Great book.
Pity the Author also now started to use THE LORDS'S NAME in vain. What is it with the story that you HAVE to use God's Name to give the character "personality"? The previous Greyman novels were perfect without such language, why start using it now?

Another Great Listen
I enjoyed this instalment of the Grey Man greatly. It was good to get more insight into Court Gentry’s past and his introduction as Sierra Six. A great storyline and once again we’ll read by Jay Snyder. Thank you to the Author Mark Greaney for such a riveting series. I hope it’s not too long to the next book in this series.

His best yet
Absolutely loved it. This is by far the best Grey man story written yet and now a lot more has been revealed about Violator’s journey.
