Publisher's Summary

In Silent Compassion: Finding God in Contemplation, Franciscan Father Richard Rohr focuses on finding God in the depths of silence. The divine silence invites us to compassion for others and wholeness of being, and offers us peace. This book contains reflections made by Fr. Rohr at the 2013 Festival of Faiths in Louisville, Kentucky, plus comments on those reflections by members of other faith traditions.

Essential Rhor

I ONLY mention this as a help, I’ve read almost all of Father Rohr’s books and this is by far my favorite. He says in this book what he takes a few books to say on Dualism, consciences, God, other faiths and more. It’s short and to the point, kind of like Richard Rohr!

Something is wrong with the speed setting!!

What would have made Silent Compassion better?

This recording slows down and speeds up making it extremely irritating to listen to. I have given up - frustrating!! Don't buy it unless it gets fixed.

dualism against dualism

Its a challenge to criticize one's own tradition without falling into the dualism which the author condemns. Throughout the book one does not find the word "symmetry". Instead, one finds an admiration bias in favor of Buddhist spirituality. The title does not reflect the content. That being said, Rohr finds ways to provoke Christians into wondering about the beauty of a tradition which has placed too much emphasis upon correct words rather than other multifaceted approaches to the Mystery of God.
