Interesting and well executed :)
Any additional comments?
This audiobook was much more interesting and informative than I initially thought it would be. It's short in length but packed full of helpful information and exercises to improve one's vocal abilities.
The narration was absolutely excellent. I suppose that's to be expected, given the author's background and training, but Nancy Bos' voice suited the content of this audiobook perfectly. She has a good teacher's voice!
There were vocal exercises, of course, but what added value for me was the explanation of how our voices are affected by fundamental things like breathing and posture. She did a good job of describing postures and breathing as I started each exercise, with good examples/descriptions/analogies to help ensure that I was doing the exercise correctly. I suppose that audiobooks can be tricky that way for this subject area -- we don't have any diagrams to visualize like a reader of a printed book would have. So instead, we need to rely on the narrator to get us to where we need to be for each exercise. I feel that Nancy did a great job with that, with her encouragement, and with teaching us the exercises but coaching us through them.
I also enjoyed hearing her talk about the vocabulary and the practice of singing. As a young person, many many years ago, I took music instrument lessons so I'm generally familiar with music terminology (e.g., staccato, legato); however, I was never quite clear about things like voice classifications in popular music versus classical music. And I'm always interested in hearing what vocal teachers have to say about pop singers. As we already suspect, some pop singers are better vocalists than others -- Nancy helps us understand these differences.
So, for an audiobook that is relatively short in terms of total duration, I think that it's absolutely well worth the investment. I have lots and lots of audiobooks in my listening library on my iPod and this is one that I won't be archiving in the near future. I'm not planning to audition for a musical, but I would like my significant other to stop cringing when I sing along to the radio. I think Nancy's audiobook can help with that ;)
This review is my personal opinion and was provided in exchange for a copy of the audibook.

Comprehensive and Interactive Basics for Anyone
Singing 101 was not only a GREAT introduction to the basics of singing but also a FUN way of learning. Nancy Bos is a wonderful and positive vocal coach and I would highly recommend this audiobook for anyone.
I listened to Singing 101 in one sitting and also did the exercises. This is indeed vocal exercises and Nancy Bos does them first so you can hear what they should sound like, then she does them with you and lastly, you do them on your own.
The greatest thing about this audiobook for me is that I have a tween-aged grandson who is an aspiring singer/vocalist. He's never had a lesson or been in choir yet he has a naturally perfect pitch. When he stays over, I listen to him sing the National Anthem and America the Beautiful over and over again and I'm just in awe as to where this boy gets this from. I've suggested a voice coach or choir but now, NOW I can get him started. I'm thrilled. Thank you so, so much.

Sing out loud, sing out strong
There is a lot about this audible book that I really liked. It gives practical advice as to how you should prepare your body for singing and how to use your diaphragm to control your breathe and sustain notes. This is all good stuff and essential to anyone who wants to sing to any standard.
However, this is very short indeed at just over an hour and a half and it is a shame that more could have been made of this opportunity to publish an audible singing guide that gives the listener more. True, some of the exercises can be repeated and used as practice aids for the budding singer, the only problem being that the backing "music" sounds like it has been recorded on either a Bontempi or Casio keyboard from the 1980s than cost £12.99 from Argos. It really could have been so much better than this.

Very good jumping in point for vocal training.
I really liked this. There is a lot of breathing, posture fundamentals for the first half, which might put off the "I wanna sing great NOW" brigade, but it's all needed, and then about half way through Nancy gets into some great vocal exercises for the rest of the audiobook which will definitely challenge and advance your singing voice. Stick with it. Will listen to this over and over again.
