Story
Seattle gallery owner Virginia Troy has spent years battling the demons that stem from her childhood time in a cult and the night a fire burned through the compound, killing her mother. And now one of her artists has taken her own life, but not before sending Virginia a last picture: a painting that makes Virginia doubt everything about the so-called suicide - and her own past. Like Virginia, PI Cabot Sutter was one of the children in the cult who survived that fire - and only he can help her now.

Another Great One
Rafe and Ella are a matched pair. She helps him develop his new talent after getting psy burned and he helps her understand that she is not the end of any relationship she has. she was waiting or him. They complete each other yet are powerful on their own. Can't wait for the next Rainshadow Island book.

Cute story
What did you love best about Siren's Call?
The two main characters met with no previous history of each other. In some of Jayne Castle's books, the main characters come to the story with a previous relationship. When stories begin like this, I feel like I've missed part of the story before it starts.
What other book might you compare Siren's Call to and why?
Some of Jayne Castle's earlier works, 'Orchid', 'Amaryllis', etc. (which aren't on audible for some reason)
Have you listened to any of Barbara Rosenblat’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Excellent-the best narrator there is! (check her narration of Elizabeth Peter's, Amelia Peabody series)
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I was glad to listen to Barbara Rosenblat again and hope she narrates more of Jayne Castle/Krentz and Amanda Quick's books.

Jayne's dust bunnys rock
Any additional comments?
I have looked forward to downloading this audio book for months. It was worth the wait and losing some sleep to listen to this story. It's a great story. I like the way the characters are introduced and developed and interact with each other. The other Rain Shadow books are great too. The dust bunny's are small but an important part - I enjoy them very much.
Barbara Rosenblat's voice was a delight to me, she was just right for this story. Personally, I can hear several books branching out from this one, hope Jayne doesn't retire!

Wished we had dust bunnies now!
I’m a complete devotee to Jayne Castle and Harmony with its unique island, Rain Shadow. Starting with her first trip to Harmony in individual books which developed the characters and backgrounds to our more recent Rain Shadow series, Jayne has created a world to which I can escape happily. I only wished she’d continue with the series as I’m more in sync with Harmony and the dust bunnies than I am 30’s California! Jayne, please?

Light, fun adventure with dust bunnies and donuts
Krentz, writing as Jayne Castle, adds another great story in her Rainshadow series. The action scenes arrive right on time in a plot that tap dances through abductions, encounters with armed thugs, chase scenes, and monsters of various kinds. Plus heroic sci fi dust bunnies. What more could you want?
I loved listening to Barbara Rosenblat's rich voice with the right edge of comedy in her inflection and pitch-perfect timing. Her performance really kicks the novel up a notch to deliver a super audiobook experience.

3 1/2 Stars.
This was a fast paced and very readable tale of Ella and Rafe. They face some challenges that test and ultimately cement their relationship and it is not a spoiler to say there is a Happy Ever After. However this is not the best in this series. It is a bit predictable and the bad guys are pretty obvious, which is a shame as this kills the tension of the suspense/thriller aspect of the story. I was also a little disappointed with the story of the relationship. I felt this story could have been better told in a slightly longer novel. For me there was a lack of build up and a lack of emotional intensity, or chemistry, between the main characters which made it all feel a bit rushed. Overall this is a good easy to read novel but I would say if you haven't read any of this series before , don't start with this one.
The narration was fairly good, although I also dislike hearing someone swallow and whilst it is rare in this book, it is there a little.
My rating has been rounded up as It is really a 3.5/5 stars
