Can’t get through the first chapter
The narrator is monotone which makes it difficult to distinguish between the characters speaking and detract from the storyline. I am only in the first chapter and keep pausing the story to re-listen and still find it difficult to get back on track. I wish I wasn’t invested so far in this series because I am now uncertain that I’ll ever finish it. Very disappointing.

Performance lacking
I am only in the first chapter and am having trouble in following the story. I can't tell the difference between the two main characters in the voice, if they are talking or looking at their stats, and the emotion or chemistry between them isn't there. I understand that sometimes you have no choice but to get the reader that is available but put in some time to blend into the previous books for your audience.

And so the Ten Realms cried tears of mana.
The soul of the Ten Realms left with Todd.
I have a hard time telling the difference between the two main characters, or the difference in males and females of the realms.
This makes it hard to stay immersed, and I tend to zone out while listening. I hate to say it but this series ended at book 5 for me.

Too heavy a shift in narrator
To be clear, if the narrator were on a different series then it would be fine. The problem is that his style and tone are so different that after five books of the previous narrator that the shift is jarring and I can't lose myself in the story. The voices sound not just different but also much closer together in range which becomes an issue because at times the new narrator is reading at a pace that is almost frantic. I think I will just stick to the ebooks going forward.

Narrator Issues
With the new narrator talking I am having a hard time understand who is speaking compared to the other books. All the voices sound the same and don't have any uniqueness to them. The names as well are being mispronounced as well which sucks me out of the book. I would rather read the book than listen to it.

Missing Todd
My brother and I have been listening to this series for a few years now. We had a long car ride and he got me into the first book. I had a job that I drove by myself for about 10 hours a day so I got through each book in three or four days. When my brother told me the sixth realm was out but the narrator changed I thought it couldn’t be that bad but man, it’s a big change. Nothing wrong with the new guy, I’m sure he does fine with his other books but the contrast between the two narrators is very apparent. I miss the life that Todd would put into each of the characters and even the voice for the ten realms telling you the stats and quest details. I’ll probably keep going with the series, I’m already invested in the story, but I hope that something can be done to get back to having some life in the ten realms.

why have you changed the narrator
nothing kills a series faster then changing the narrator, and why have you split the book up is it to make more money.
you should have waited for the original narrator and for the book to be finished.

Disappointing
I'm a pessimist so tend not to be disappointed, let my guard down with Mr Chatfield after such a long run of not listening to those Amazon XXXX's. Guess we have x.0 books to look forward to next at 1-4 hours long.
I was so looking forward to the Sixth Realm, didn't even read the title fully.
Disappointment 1 - reading the name of the narrator.
Disappointment 2 - reading the length.
Disappointment 3 - reading Part 1 in the title.
Disappointment 4 - reading the reviews.
Held off buying it at this point. Reminded myself how good Mr Chatfield has been to us, especially with the Ten Realms series and after a few days, and a couple of other books, I got the Sixth Realm.
Disappointment 5 - listening to the Sixth Realm.
The story is good, don't get me wrong, but I had to listen to it twice back to back and I'm still not sure I didn't phase out at the same bit twice. I never missed a single word of the other books, but found this narrator very difficult to maintain focus on.
The constant escalation I have come to love in all of MC's series felt stifled. I could see all the groundwork being laid, especially with the revelations, making it feels a lot like the first half of the single book I am guessing the Sixth Realm was going to be.
Raising my star review having written this and reflected.
I have no idea what happened to the previous narrator but I would be interested in listening to him reading this book so I can see if I get the same 'feel' for this Realm.
I will still buy most of MC's books as his worlds and characters are amazing, like no other.

I am dyslectic so my reading and writing is shit, but audiobooks has made me "read" so many books...
im sorry but I could not follow this book, because the narrator which probably is a great narrator, didnt capture the voices ive come to love. It was so hard to follow who was speaking that I had to re listen at multiple times.
I loved the first 5 books on audiobooks. now I dont know if I can continue the series.

it was good but
The book was good but splitting it into 2 is a shame. it's odd to have a new narrator so all the characters you know and love now sound different. apparently they are going to go back and change all of the old books with the new narrator so we'll see how that goes. But it will be nice to get a book narrated more often overall another fun time in the ten realms.

But keeping up with who is taking and what is going on is incredibly difficult when it sounds like the narrator read this at gun point.
Over the last 5 books you spent a great deal of time building your characters and the back stories. Each of them had a personality.
Books 1-5, this is one of the best litrpg series I've listened to so far.
Books 6+? I guess I'll never know.
It's a pity I can't get a refund on 6a.
If these are re-recorded by anyone that can vocally distinguish the characters, I'll probably buy it and continue the series in the future but it's a dead end for now.

Narrator last found reading the UK Shipping foreca
... St. Been an avid reader and only just started the book but not looking forward to battling through this with the new narrator. Everything feels dull, like previous reviewers said disappointed that they have decided to double their profits by splitting one book into two and then adding a tax accountant as a narrator.... Will update this review if and when I manage to get through the first half of this book.

Disappointing performance
Absolutely love this series but sorely disappointed with the change of narrator. Very little change in voice so all the characters sound the same. really wish Michael Chatfield had stuck with the same narrator who had nailed all the characters voices and kept the story varied and interesting. I bought this book the moment I saw it had come out, not for a second thinking the narrator would have changed so far into the series. I really hope Todd Menesses comes back for the rest of the series, otherwise I'll have to give up on the audio books.

worse narrator shorter length
although there was sound quality issues in previous that was improved in this one, the change in narrator doesn't suit the story as well as the previous books. throw in that they made this a 2 part while cutting the length in half really reduced the value of the audio book.

Excellent storyline, terrible voice actor
Todd menesses gave the characters life and made the book come alive. This new dude is so dreary and monotonous I couldn’t finish listening to the book without falling asleep, and considering i listen to these books while I’m driving heavy trucks, that’s not a good thing. I will not purchase the remaining books if this same voice actor does the rest of the series

struggled with the audio
always difficult if a narrator changes through a series, but I also struggled to understand what the narrator was saying when listening to the audio book in my car

Narrator
I struggled to tell which character was talking. The previous narrating was so much better. Neil keeps his voice pretty much the same the whole book
Otherwise the books are bloody great!

not bad, but half the value
making this half the length and swapping to a worse narrator makes this book feel like a money grab.
think of how much better physical version would look with 10 equally sized books in a collection...

always feels weird changing narrator mid series
I like Neil hellengers as a narrator but the other dude fit better even if his female characters sounded commily bad. At lest Neil doesn't say "simple" like it's the most important word in the book.
I do like the series but I feel like a editor needs to go over the whole thing again, Rugrat coming to the amazing World altering realisation that he needs to make a railgun for the 3rd time and his whole world view shifting makes him seem like he has alzheimer's.

Awesome series!
This awesome and interesting story of two marines, who fell into a D&D game style world, continues as they level up and make break throughs to expert level, and a changes of thought processes. Along with all their subsidiary characters, and new ventures and quests.
I did find the change of narrator distracting, as I was used to certain voices for characters, however by the end I was sucked back into the world and am looking forward to future books!

The new narrator has killed this series for me.
I love the story, I can't take the new narrator. The old one was so much better.
