So much fun!

I didn't quite know what to expect from this book. But it had good reviews - and it was on sale, so I took a chance. As the audio started I was wondering if I would be able to tolerate the voice. Before you know it I was under the spell. My husband and I absolutely LOVED the dark whit and snappy comebacks. The spooky sounds and jazzy music between the chapters gives it a sort of Halloweenish character, another good thing. Speaking of characters, they are great - in a completely crazy magical sort of way. Rupert Degas was brilliant with the voices - so much so that everything came to life, just like magic. Hmm.... The next book in the series is already in my queue.

I am in love with this book. it is so good!
I kind of hate how long the music goes at the beginning and the end. It just seems to carry on and on. I really love these characters though and the story was excellent. I can't wait to have kids because I am so playing this series on road trips for them.

Obsessed

I love this series so much words cannot describe. I've been reading it since I myself was 12 years old and it influenced my character growing up.

enjoyable

I must say that I enjoyed the music at the beginning and end of the chapters it did this perfectly, some other audiobooks I've heard have done the same thing but cut off dialogue into the chapters or the music is louder then expected and hurts the ear.

The characters were fun and the laws of magic in this book were interesting.

Truly obnoxious sound effects

The story was overwhelmed by a chapter endings which -every single one of them- included a man whispering “yeahhhh” and a woman screaming. As well as obnoxious jazz interludes. It was impossible to like the story as I spent every chapter beginning and end gritting my teeth and hating everyone involved in this production.

"A penchant for raising Cain.."

An exciting read, full of action, mystery and copious amounts of wit. The language flows, the narrative is compelling and the narrator, in this case Rupert Degas brings to life the story of a murder being solved by a dead man. Highly recommend!

One of my favorite books and I loved the narration

Probably my favorite audio book I've heard. Partly cause I love the book but also cause Rupert did an amazing job at narrating and giving the characters life. Looking forward to listening to the next book.

Just Lovely to enjoy a read with the whole family.

The narrator did a fantastic job emphasizing the emotions of each character. It really is just a fantastic experience.
