Full of Facts and great Advices

I really like Jillian's books. I bought this book for 2 reasons, the title and that it is Jillian.
I actually lost a lot of weight lasst year and reached my goal, but then i thought, i will never gain weight again if i eat what i want now.. big mistake...

In this book Jillian helps you understand perfectly what is right and whats not.. and you can set a better and reasonable plan to reach and maintain your perfect weight.

If i had this book last year, i wouldn't have made the mistake of gaining almost 40 lbs, now i'm in the same song i was in before losing that weight..

What i mainly like here is that she comes and gives you fact and disapproves a lot of meths..

This book does not focus only on food and exercises, it talks about medicine, house products, and other products that are used daily.

And the best thing is that you don't have to follow all these advices, she gave a case for everyone , so it pretty much covers everything.

Thanks Jillian

Good Advice, but Probably Better in Print

I don't agree with all of what Jillian Michaels says, but I like her philosophy overall. . Although it's nice that Jillian reads it herself, the lists, URLs and point system aren't really conducive to audio -- I think it would be more useful to read it (and then maybe listen to it as a supplement or reinforcement).

Has the Goods

Jillian Michaels has probably the best grasp on healthy eating, and getting fit realistically of any author I have read on this subject.
I like that she goes through all the myths and "facts" we have all heard and even lived by, and tells you if they are crap or not, but also Why.
She also looks at the big picture of how its a lot more then just eating and exercise that affects our efforts. Hormones, even food packaging...lots of good solid info here and I recommend this book to anyone wanting to educate themselves and/or lose some weight.
Tip - look her up on You Tube for free fitness videos.

Be a little skeptical

Any additional comments?

A lot of what's mentioned is useful, but please ignore all she says about homeopathy. Homeopathy is complete quackery with no scientific basis what so ever. The principles of homeopathy go against basic physics, and offer nothing by a placebo effect.

Lots of new information

What made the experience of listening to Slim for Life the most enjoyable?

Knowing that Jillian Michaels has proven results and uses herself as examples

What does Jillian Michaels bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her Passion through inflections

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Each myth exposed and explained

Any additional comments?

I have already incorporated a few of the learning's in this book into my life!

I will definitely listen to many parts of this book again.

The point system was too complicated for me to use as I listened to the book as I get ready in the morning. When I would hear certain facts for the first time I would right them.

Very informative and easy to listen to....

I have recently been completing Jillian Michaels workout DVDs and was keen to listen to this book. I have learned so much about what NOT to put in my mouth, and if I do, how it will affect me. Processed food has taken on a whole new meaning!
If you are really interested in getting healthy and staying that way, this book provides excellent and sensible information and I think (after making the decision to get fit and stay that way) that it is well and truly do-able.
I found that some of the information is very much related to the USA (I live in Australia), but I still found the book useful and helpful.
I have also found many helpful hints regarding exercise - what to do and what not to do.
All in all, I was very impressed. I would certainly recommend this one!

No handouts provided

Pdfs really should be provided for the points lists at the end of each chapter.

Says vegetarian diets are unhealthy

I was on board at the beginning of this book. I like her approach on THE BIGGEST LOSER, specifically her tough love approach. What I cannot get behind is telling her readers that giving up meat and animal products leaves you devoid of several key nutrients. This is totally irresponsible. If you want to continue eating animal products, that is your choice and I am POSITIVE you can live a healthy life with intelligent choices regarding said animal products (Perhaps not eating meat at every single meal would be a good start? Maybe limiting meat to once a week would be easier on the digestive system..) But telling people you cannot be healthy without animal products? Please. Tell that to all the Americans living with heart disease, diabetes, early onset puberty (!), bad skin, bad breath, early signs of aging and not to mention all the damage to the environment we are all having to deal with.

OK, sermon over. I feel strongly about this and now that we are almost in 2018, people should understand that A LOT of people feel this way. I respect Jillian's choice to speak her truth no matter who she may offend. I really do. But it's not about being offensive at all. It's about teaching a culture that already over-consumes meat and dairy that giving it up (or even just cutting way back) is not a good idea. Ridiculous. Try reading HOW NOT TO DIE instead. Much better advice there and you WILL lose weight.

Inspirational

If you could sum up Slim for Life in three words, what would they be?

Jillian always has a way of inspiring me. I found the book very informative and will listen to it over and over again.

Good starting point

Basic information with common sense . Easy to follow. Love Jilian Michaels. Great tips.

My only issue, please do not tell your server you have a food allergy, such as gluten or dairy, when it is in fact a preference to be healthy. Yes restaurants are happy to have your business and yes they are happy to accommodate! However when you say allergy an extreme amount of care is taken to avoid cross contamination and the server takes extra steps as well. Just be honest you aren’t eating dairy or carbs and the restaurant will still happily accommodate.

Gillian rocks!

I love listening to Gillian. All of this made sense. I find her very straight talking and motivating. A lot of good information and her 80% rule blew me away. I get so disheartened when I lose my way but really it's just a lesson in what not to do. Thank you for taking the time to do an unabridged version.

I simply love Jillian's advice

If you could sum up Slim for Life in three words, what would they be?

Simple, sound, sensible

What did you like best about this story?

The way in which the tips are assigned points to guide you to pick the ones that will have the most impact. It is really well thought out, and the tips and tricks in the book are fit to apply to every kind of life, with a little bit of effort, of course.

Have you listened to any of Jillian Michaels’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Compared to "Unlimited", "Slim for Life" is restricted to the fitness and weight loss arena. But it is still very good advice for a very important part of our lives: nutrition

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Let you lifestyle slim you down, and keep you that way

Any additional comments?

Jillian Michaels is one of the most sensible and knowledgeable fitness experts out there. I swear by her advice and no b-s approach to weightloss, fitness and life. I suggest everyone out there listents to what she has to say,

Great but you need to be quick!

I loved the content of this. Lots of easy to apply tips and concepts. Loved hearing Jillian lay it all out. The book requires you to commit to doing tasks and to note down and count which one you'll do. Foe me this was hard to do as I listen to books out and about and it's hard to flip back to check details.

Difficult to listen to

The book is likely interesting to read, however difficult to listen to and hard to understand at points.
It's a bit like listening to someone reading a recipe book.
I love Jillian and follow her on-line, however the book was just not for me.
I gave up on chapter 16 of 96.

Great fast quick tips

Easy fast helpful tips to choose from. Humorous style throughout.
I really loved it, good explanation why to do the tips without too much of the dull science part
