Absolutely awful
Given all the glowing reviews of this book. I actually checked twice to make sure they were all reviewing the same book I just listened to. To begin with, the narrator is automated. Not a real person. But I had listened to the preview and was willing to give it a try. The real problem with the book is that it offered no usable insight for anyone but people with severe social disorder who have trouble leaving home. (And, in case you think that is who the book is for, the author states that that is not who this book is for).
There was no insight or advice that was usable or new. I could have written this book in about the same time it took me to listen to it (which was faster than advertised because I was forced to listen to it at 1.5X because it was so repetitive and lame). All I would have to do is repurpose a few Google articles on the topic.
Total waste of money and time.

Underwhelming and Borderline Annoying
This isn't the worst audio book, but there are better ones available.
The worst part of the experience is the narrator. He has a whinny quality to his voice while also reading the content with extreme emotional detachment. There are moments in the book where the advice that is being given is practically being contradicted by the narrator because of his style. Really makes immersion difficult.
The first section of the book is less about small talk and more about how to develop your confidence to the point you can engage in small talk. Important in its own right, but it takes up more real-estate in the book that is warranted by the stated subject matter on the cover. It is a waste of time for people that don't have crippling social anxiety or confidence issues.
The advice given about small talk sounds like the author went online and looked up lists of tips on small talk and making conversation then tried to build a narrative around them and attempt to expand on them a bit. There was little that seemed insightful or new that I haven't run into after some simple searches on the internet.
If you have virtually no social and conversational skills because of anxiety and confidence issues then this book will probably be a help. Otherwise, there are better books available.

Read by a computer, content is lacking
I read the few bad reviews and thought they just weren’t being fair. I hate leaving negative reviews, but this audio book is terrible.
The content is beyond lacking. I forced myself to continue listening, trying to get some value out of this book. I’m sorry, this book is terrible.
The absolute worst part is the computer reading. My 9 year old is a better public reader.

Terrible
The narrator is awful to listen too - very slow and condescending way of speaking. The book however is worse. It includes gems such as brush your teeth and wear clean clothes. How this relates to the title is tenuous and just filler material. Returned.

Narrated by a Robot
I wish so badly I had listened to a sample of this...because WOW...the narration is so so bad that initially I thought my phone was fritzing out on me. The narrator sounds like a stoned robot that’s trying to appear normal by making strange inflections. Literally couldn’t get past the first 5 minutes so I’ve no idea if the content of the book is good or not. But wow. Just wow. It’s so bad it’s laughable.
