Publisher's Summary

Do you find yourself missing out on those “in the moment” moments? Do you find yourself continually making sure you are “photo-ready”? Do you find days seem to zoom by with nothing to show for? Are you affected by what people post, "like", or comment on when it comes to your social media presence?

Is clout something that matters to you?

Chances are, if you have said "yes" to any of the following, you may be spending more than the average amount of time online and on social media. There is a fine line between a healthy dose and an overdose.

In this book, I share with you the research that looks at the emotional, psychological, and physical impact a social media addiction has as well as how to take a step back from being connected.

Remember, we have one life to live, and if we continue to live through our smart devices, it does not matter how many photos, videos, or tags we get because we won’t have lived it. We will have let life pass us by, and we would have allowed those precious moments to be a memory.

Who is this book for?

  • Someone who feels anxious about being separated from their social media accounts
  • Someone eager to learn about what it means to be addicted to social media
  • Someone who wants to step back and regain control over their devices
  • Someone who wants to detox their brain

It may seem bizarre to think an inanimate object could control us, but look around you - how many people do you see glued to their phone?

Stop and smell the roses with my book; I am sure you will find a moment of peace, clarity, and freedom from your smart device.

If you are ready to take control, get the book, and start your journey!

Informative & Insightful

Honestly, we read this book because our friend was narrating it. Kelly McGibbon did an outstanding job. That being said, we are not avid book readers/listeners. However, we found this book to be quite informative, insightful and eye-opening. We were actually surprised how many social media applications we are subscribed to. While this book explains the anxiety and addiction parts of social media, it also highlighted the good side of social media and the fun part of it when it’s used in moderation. It guides the reader also on practical suggestions on how to break free. The quizzes really make you self analyze your social media habits. Surprisingly, it gave us some food for thought and we plan on making some adjustments with our social media usage. The book is also easy to listen to and does not contain complicated suggestions or terminology. The timing of this book could not be better. As the world recovers slowly from the pandemic, this book will help people who perhaps overuse the platforms to start really living “in person” as the book says. We would highly recommend this book to parents with teens and young adults in the home who may have issues with social media addictions or anxiety. But really everyone can benefit, ourselves included, by reading this book and examining our online habits and applying the suggestions. Overall, this is an excellent read and we plan to recommend this book to friends and family.

Amazing!

Social Media Anxiety and Addiction is an amazing book!

I never realized how addicted we all are to social media these days and the effects it’s having on not only our life and time but our health.

This book is a great read/listen if you want to take back control of your life!

I really enjoyed chapter 5 where they speak about lack of impulse control we all have when we see a notification on our phone and have a urge to open it! I always wondered why that was and this book has answered it perfectly!

This was a very fascinating and easy to follow book!

Narrators voice is very soothing!

Amazing book!

What a beautiful book! I think this book unlocks the secrets of the capitalization of Social Media platforms. I sincerely appreciate the knowledge that comes with this book. You can tell that it has been well researched. One who loves social media forgets how it is a business and perpetuates the image of perfection! My favourite chapter is chapter 3 that depicts its design and how it draws in its users. Suppose you are one like me, one who keeps looking at the badges of your icons and constant notifications. Download this book and understand the cycle of social media and learn how to regulate it. Finally, I love the mobile tips. These reminders help us face what Social Media is in our lives.

Truly recommended !

I’m not a social media user, but the times we live in are driven by social media. The author demonstrates the seriousness in his research, and his words reveal a panoply of reasoning that i had never thought of. This audiobook is without a doubt a book that everyone should listen to : it is unequivocally the subject of the century. The narration is very clear which is so important in audiobooks. I highly recommend it !

Detox your brain and life!

I loved this book a lot! Yes, we can't imagine our lives without Instagram and Facebook. Many interesting facts and insights inside the book made me look at my daily life differently. I never knew that social media could influence your mental health and literally "ruin your life." This book gave me knowing how to use social media to benefit instead of being a slave of it.

Highly recommend it to everyone, especially Millenials and teenagers. Great book!

The help I didn't know I needed!

This is such a good book for anyone who either has social media or has children who have it. Man, what a detox I need and after listening to this book, I feel like I have the tips and tools to really do so. I have deleted my apps so many times from my phone just to download them again later that day. This book, however, provides insight into the addictions of social media and how to overcome it. It also helps a person realize that a detox/break is needed even if you didn't know it already. I highly recommend this book!

An eye opener!

I'm not normally a person who writes reviews, however for this audiobook, I decided to do it because it has been very insightful and had an impact on me. Important thoughts have been emphasised through great narration, so it was easy to follow along. Considering social media is part of our daily life, the information has not been overwhelming demanding drastic changes to be made, but was very practical and balanced.
My ultimate goal now, is to be free from all social media and this audio book has definitely motivated me to take control of the usage and enjoy my life without it.
Enjoy!

Very insightful book with good practical advice

The book makes some excellent points and is well researched. It is also easy to understand and positive. I made note of certain points to use in my work with some teenagers. I use social media to promote my business and it is very easy to lose control over how much time you spend on it. So this book made me reassess my way of using it.

I like that it doesn’t put social media in a bad light, rather it encourages balance, shows how social media can be a useful tool if used wisely.
The book is narrated impeccably, in a non patronising manner, but it is still powerful enough to encourage one to action, starting with small steps and making realistic changes. It is easy to follow, and enjoyable to listen.

Helped me to enjoy MY life

It's good that I got this book!
Lately, I found myself spending 6-8 hours per day with my phone on Instagram and Facebook (thanks to my phone screen activity tracker). I have lost my concentration and, well.. my life too. I couldn't remember when I read the book last time, enjoyed my meal in full or meeting with a friend. Every single moment I felt a need to check my phone.

This book helped me to look differently at my life, and I realize that it lacks sense. Terrible feeling of emptiness and total boredom. With this book, I started to feel the taste of my meal, to enjoy nature and EVERYTHING around me! It's good to finally find a balance between real life, self-esteem, and social media. The book is well written with a good dose of researches and facts. The narration is smooth and clear. Highly recommend this book to all social media addicts.

START living YOUR LIFE with this book.
