Publisher's Summary

When forced to choose between safety with the dragon organization Talon and being hunted forever as an outcast, Ember Hill chose to stand with Riley and his band of rogue dragons rather than become an assassin for Talon. She's lost any contact with her twin brother, Dante, a Talon devotee, as well as Garret, the former-enemy soldier who challenged her beliefs about her human side. As Ember and Riley hide and regroup to fight another day, Garret journeys alone to the United Kingdom, birthplace of the ancient and secret Order of St. George, to spy on his former brothers and uncover deadly and shocking secrets that will shake the foundations of dragons and dragon-slayers alike, placing them all in imminent danger as Talon's new order rises.

Way to much teenage angst

I've listen to all three books in the series and I wish I had bothered to write a review on book two. I did love the first in the series but as I made my way through book three, I began to remember how Ember's whining just about drove me up a wall. OK so she's a teenager and that's what teenage girls can be like but it was just about enough for me and I won't be bothered with the next in the series. So I just looked back to see who this book was for and it was for teens - 11 to 13. OK my bad, I should have paid more attention

5 star male narrators, 2 star female

I've been captivated by this saga for the original story idea but I have to say the female narrator had me cringing most of the time. I kind of hate Ember and even had to skip whole chapters of hers so my eyes wouldn't roll straight out of my head. The rest of the story was great, like Garrett's backstory and Riley/Cobalt's POVs, even Dante's stuff intrigued me. I'm invested 3 books into this series now so I guess I'm stuck until it ends but I can't decide if it's just the female narrator that's annoying me or Ember herself. Probably a combination of the two. I'd love to hear more history of dragons on earth since they're supposed to be long-lived to complete the world-building. Hopefully we'll get that in the next books.

Now we're talkin'

Initially I felt that the Talon series was more of a young adult series. Let me assure everyone that it's a good listen for anyone!

Ember grow up!

The whining , would like to know what happens next but can probably predict it. Ember’s stupidity and immaturity is draining and I wish Cobalt found another dragon to like and then Ember got jealous for once only for him to say “ to late”!

voice actors weren't the best fit IMO

the characters are teens but the actors sound in their 40s which is a little bit off putting at times but overall I enjoyed this one more than the previous 2 books

good story but shity character.

this book was starting good but the female character Amber has extremely bad morals. she first starts a relationship with soldier then completely changes to falling for the dragon like she was a dog in heat. this book is awfully bad 1 star.

Ember

I love the story and series so far. I don't know what it is about the actor playing Ember, but some of the choices by the actor or director/producer seem to weaken the story. I believe I would feel differently if I were reading the character as she would have a different voice in my head. She would sound different, a little bolder even though she is conflicted and confused between love interests. She is written to beleive in her choices but the voice actor still portrays her as whimpy and whiney. not sure who's choice it was but I don't think it does the character justice.

Too predictable

I have loved listening to these books, the plot started off solid but thoughout the books became pretty predictable and with many holes.

As soon as the whole Riley/Garett situation started, I was certain Garett would die. Despite the fact Garett was my favourite character, the predictability of it meant I felt nothing when he was killed off. I could have literally told you how the showdown would go before I read it, very unoriginal.

But as a whole the series are pretty good. Just predictable.

excellent story!

really enjoyed listening to this story, there's action and romance non stop.
the narrator poorly annunciates words though.
correct grammar would be much more enjoyable.

Great Series

I was wary due to bad reviews, but I loved the previous books and had to try. listened in a weekend. yes the female narrator sucks, but the story is fast paced interesting.
