Story
Brash entrepreneur Roan McAuley has no problem getting naked. But being the only one in the room dropping kilt and giving plenty isn't his idea of fun - even if it's for the "Men of the Highlands" calendar and a good cause. However, getting feisty photographer Tessa Vandergriff all hot, bothered, and hungry is proving irresistible…even though she's not his type. And even if the sizzling attraction between them is changing everything this roguish playboy thinks he knows about lust…and love.

An Atlanta ex-cop comes to Lake Sackett, Georgia, seeking peace and quiet - but he hasn’t bargained on falling for Frankie, the cutest coroner he’s ever met. Frankie McCready talks to dead people. Not like a ghost whisperer or anything - but it seems rude to embalm them and not say hello. Fortunately, at the McCready Family Funeral Home & Bait Shop, Frankie’s eccentricities fit right in. Lake Sackett’s embalmer and county coroner, Frankie’s goth styling and passion for nerd culture mean she’s not your typical Southern girl, but the McCreadys are hardly your typical Southern family.

Story
Pretty, flighty Daisy Devreaux can either go to jail or marry the mystery man her father has chosen for her. Arranged marriages don't happen in the modern world, so how did the irrepressible Daisy find herself in this fix? Alex Markov, as humorless as he is deadly handsome, has no intention of playing the loving bridegroom to a spoiled little feather-head with champagne tastes. He drags Daisy from her uptown life to a broken down traveling circus and sets out to tame her to his ways.

- By Lisa P on 03-19-21
Publisher's Summary
There goes the bride...
She's cautious, careful - and about to lose control of her future to a marriage of inconvenience. So, what can reluctant bride Katie McAuley do? Easy - let a modern-day prince charming spirit her away for a month to his Scottish castle. There she can take refuge from her overbearing family and finally figure out what she really wants. But the more Katie sees of Graham McLeod, the harder it's getting to keep their arrangement strictly business....
As McLeod clan leader, Graham had always placed duty to his heritage and people before everything else. Now with Katie as his "betrothed", he's finally satisfied a ridiculously outdated marriage pact to wed a McAuley descendant, letting him focus on more pressing matters, like preventing a ruthless relative's takeover of his home island. If he could just keep Katie's courage and honesty at arm's length, not to mention their all-too-sizzling attraction....

Loved the book; performer was irritating
I’ve never not liked a Donna Kauffman book. This reader, however, really irritated me with her frequent mispronunciations, some that effectively substituted a different (wrong) word for the printed one. I find it sad that Audible (or whoever does it) can’t choose better readers than this. I’ll be watching for her as s name to avoid.

After making myself listen to this for over an hour I can tell you not one thing about this story other than I don't want to know anything about it. I have listened to Chloe Lynn before and did not find her preformance so completely irritating. Maybe I'm having an off day but i don't think so.

Too Soothing to Stay Awake
Kept being lulled to sleep by Chloe Lynn’s too soothing voice...she does great accents when I could stay awake and when there was dialogue, however, when it’s narration only...geez!!!...her voice is too soft and quiet...so, going to have to pass on the next book, and it makes me sad, ‘cause Ms Lynn really does do great character voices...

Lacking most of the time
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
It just went on an on about the same things and then you would get a small ray of hope and then nothing.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
more action not repetitive
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
The narrator did a good job with what she had to work with
Did Some Like It Scot inspire you to do anything?
Fall to sleep
Any additional comments?
This could of been a great story that's why I keep listening hoping it would pick up
