Publisher's Summary
The gods are dying. Thane has served his goddess for thousands of lifetimes, but even he knows that time is running out. There's only one way to save her, to save all of Dweller kind, and it's a suicide mission.
The host is a boy named Jakob. His ancient soul is one of the rare sources of power still recycling in the world of flesh. Thane has taken so many souls to his goddess, but this one could save them all.
It's only when Thane learns the truth of the gods does he deny them their power. Souls aren't recycled. They're destroyed, and his goddess isn't a deity...she's a monster.
Permanently melded with his human host, Thane meets his soulmate, a woman who captures his heart like his goddess never did. He'll do anything to protect her, and the gods know it.

Awesome world-building.
This made for a very fun way to spend an afternoon, as I got lost in a very intriguing world. I particularly liked the take on a lot of topics in this one, such as souls, gods and more along those lines, as it made me think quite a bit. It’s also a beautiful, magical world that I felt would be amazing to watch on the screen. Would make a fun couple of movies or miniseries, I expect.
Plan to read on in the series.

An ok read for me....
This one was a hard one for me to get into and eventually, rate. I was pretty confused a lot and struggled to follow. I was lucky to get the audiobook and I must say, the narrator did well. I am not a fan of male narrators in general (in my little experience with male narrators) cuz I find it hard to get into the female voices as the male tones are generally, deeper. It just never clicks. However, this book being in Thane's voice, who is a dweller, the male narration was a must. So, overall, narration was very well done.
The story, however, was confusing for me because it felt I got started into a world I have no idea about. It felt like book two, world building wise. There wasn't much world building which failed for me to imagine what was going on. I could not connect to any characters and thus, for me, it just was a struggle. I did not feel invested in anyone. Although, Thane (dweller) and Jacob (human) grew up on me eventually. Their souls are melded and it leads to complications eventually. Cynthia, was an interesting character and played somewhat imp roll but I was also confused by their loyalties.
The story is fantasy filled with Gods being all power hungry (what's new?) and dwellers souls there to serve their Gods. Eventually, truth is outed and thus, begins the struggle for Thane and accepting it for what it is and figuring out how to right the wrongs.

Haunting way after I listened to the audio. I had read the book before and it struck me that way but listening and hearing the people come alive was another. Interesting Fantasy World
Soul Bound is an interesting first installment in a series. It took a little while to get into and accustomed to it, as when it begins you are little confused about what is going on and don't really have an understanding of the world. The book is very fast paced, can be light on detail at times and can gloss over certain things and just expect you to accept others without explaining how the character got to that point or decision. It is entertaining though and has some cool characters and themes with an interesting mix of different god myths. The character(s) of Thane/Jacob are likeable and you definitely root for them and are interested in their arc and progression. I am interested to see where future books in the series go and if the world and story are fleshed out a little more.
The narration by Reuben Corbett is very well done and adds to the enjoyment of the story.

Interesting start to this series
Due to the setup of this book, it was a little slow to get going, but once the main character had got past the prologue part of the book, things picked up quite nicely with strong world-building and an entertaining cast to fill it out. Obviously with this being the first book in the series, it perhaps could have benefited from being a little more self-contained to engage the listener more strongly, but it is enjoyable enough that the payoff in subsequent books should offset any slight concerns with this one.
The narrator did a good job overall, particularly with the main character where it was important to establish which of the two was in control at that time and he enhanced the story overall with his performance.
Overall, an interesting and quite quick introduction to this series, one which I will be interested in seeing how it progresses.

Good performance and well written, but not my cup of tea
I think this book wasn’t my favorite partly because I’m an impatient person. It took forever for the world to be build and the plot to get started because we had to meet the main character, wait for him to find a soul to attach to, meet the gods and goddesses...it just took a while before things finally got moving. I’m a little weirded out by Jacob and Thane sharing a body, but otherwise the [good] characters were charming.
Sometimes the first book of a series feels like walking through a swamp - sticky and slow going but still adventurous - as the author gets the world and plot built and moving but the following books are where it gets really good. I’m feeling like this is one of those because this was well written and developed.

I was given a free copy of this book and I'm leaving an honest and voluntary review.
I loved this book, the concept of your soul being trapped in another body, whilst trying to break free from it but being fought all the way. a battle of will to keep your soul.
The characters are great and have depth to them .
The narration is superb bringing each character into thier own and giving the unique traits.
I would most definitely recommend this 1st book and I will for sure be following the rest in this serise.
