Story
What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Until I brought my fake girlfriend home. When I took a seat next to the gorgeous brunette at the blackjack table, I had no idea it would be the start of the hottest weekend of my life. By day, Stevie and I dominate the casinos of Sin City. By night, I dominate her in my penthouse suite. Then my brother Samuel ruins it by asking me to come home for his engagement party. Because he’s not just getting married. This isn’t a normal celebration for me. His future bride is my "one who got away". The girl I may or may not still be in love with.

He's sexy. He's southern. And he won't stop showing up at my door half naked. Meet Elijah Jackson, my hot new neighbor...Charleston, South Carolina: Home to stunning architecture, sultry accents, and - oh yeah - my perpetually shirtless neighbor, Elijah Jackson. As if his abs for days and inked up deliciousness aren’t enticing enough, he also encourages me to chase down my dreams. And the chemistry between us? Hotter than the kitchen at Eli’s restaurant. But I still have a life a thousand miles away. One I’ve worked really hard to build.

Story
I knocked up my best friend's sister. Let's start with how she decided to inform me and Pacey the news...together. Imagine that nightmare. I was going into what I thought was a hockey marketing meeting, and then bam! I'm going to be a dad and my best friend/teammate is attempting to imprint my face with his fist. Threats were tossed around, friendships were revoked, and then I was marched up to her apartment, suitcases in hand, and forced to live with her so I could take care of her every need. Now I'm finding it harder and harder not to fall for my best friend's little sister.

Story
Grace Miles misses her easy friendship with Asher, but growing up means growing apart. And really, how could he fall for her when they spent their childhood getting muddy in the creek and splitting sticks of gum?But this summer, something feels different. If Grace didn’t know better, she’d think Asher was flirting with her. Those dark eyes, hard body, and wicked smile make her insides swirl and her heart dare to hope for things she’s convinced herself she’ll never have. Falling for your best friend shouldn’t be complicated, but for Asher, loving Grace is anything but simple.

Lucky. The one adjective used to describe my entire hockey career. I prefer to call it hard work - at least I did until my game went to complete crap. I haven’t scored in eight games, and the team owner is talking about trading me. I’ve never believed in superstitions. Never needed one. I suppose I was “lucky” in that way. But now the best way to refer to me is desperate. I’d wear the same socks for an entire year just to be the high-scoring center I used to be. Imagine my surprise when after spending New Year’s Eve with a woman, I score a hat trick in the next game.

What I meant to do in Vegas: Let my hair down for once and celebrate winning a medal at my first women’s hockey all-stars competition. The last person on earth I want to be stranded with is Gianni Lupo. But, thanks to the blizzard of the century, I’m trapped in a roadside motel room with that cocky bastard for two straight days, and with one small bed. I did something I’ve never done. I couldn’t help it. The man I met at the bar was too gorgeous, too fascinating, too sexy. The next thing I knew, we had a one-night stand. I’m just a piano teacher who plays jazz on Thursday nights. I have a happy, single life with my cat. I don’t need Denver’s brand of chaos. But now, I’m addicted. And so is he.

Six years ago, Eden barged into my life and turned everything upside down. We spent one scorching-hot night together, and then she disappeared into the sunset with the golden jock everyone adored. My heart opens to Cooper Haywood the moment we meet. How can it resist? He's charming, devastatingly handsome, and sweeps me off my feet before I realize the impact he's making. And then it's too late. We fall too fast to worry about the consequences. We love so hard that we ache when we're apart. Publisher's Summary
Lusting after the woman trying to steal my job is stupid. Sexting with her? That’s a game-changing fumble.
Emma Crawford became enemy number one the second she stepped foot on Blue Mountain Farm. She might think I’m just a dumb jock, but I know she’s a stuck-up wine snob who believes she’d be a better exec than me.
She can take my position over my dead body.
But with her ridiculous curves and fearless smarts, she’s becoming one giant distraction just when I need to prove my worth most.
Lucky for me that I have a secret internet sext partner to blow off steam with. My nightly dirty chats with V scratch all the itches Emma gives me.
Emma and V couldn’t be more different - except it turns out they’re the same person.
Just when I thought this scenario was enough of a disaster, I’m falling for the co-worker I can’t touch and can hardly stand.
Even a hotshot player like me can see this is a game we’re both gonna lose.
Southern Hotshot is the next STAND-ALONE novel in the all new North Carolina Highlands Series! This is Samuel and Emma's smoking hot enemies-to-lovers story. Coming winter 2020!

Super fun and sexy
This book, the second in Jessica Peterson's North Carolina Highland Series is not quite as heavy as its predecessor. While I loved the first one, which dealt with themes like postpartum depression and CTE, I appreciate she made this one a little lighter, if just to give a reader an emotional break. After reading about two people finding love while dealing with serious issues it's good to have a little enemies-to-lover fun and banter.
Peterson is one of the few romance authors out there who actually knows how to write millennials in their 30s. Like I get it romance authors, people in their 30s are SUPPOSED to sound put together and serious and powerful, but the truth is right now we talk like idiots and Peterson has a way of conveying that in her dialog without it being too much and keeps the characters likeable and still sexy. She is also one of the few authors that gets that millennials are in fact 30 and not 12 like some authors seem to think they are (a huge pet peeve).
She is also amazing at writing about and describing food. She clearly has a passion for food and shows it on the page and I for one love it. I'm always starving when reading one of her books. And this one included lots of wine as well!
The only complaint I have is I wish there was a little more exploration of the bedroom power dynamic. We rarely see a sexually dominate female/submissive male dynamic in romance and I was super excited to see it in this book, I just wish played out more in their real sex scenes like it did in their virtual ones.
Virginia Rose and Jason Clarke were fantastic. I have nothing to say about the narration other than they were amazing as always.

Hard to put into good enough words!!
I code this rating because this book is a can’t stop listening kind of book. The author writes these stories in the most amazing ways. And the way She describes the intimate scenes between the two main characters …damn!!! It makes you want to go do the same thing with your own partner. But also being born and raised in North Carolina myself and my two favorite places being Asheville and Charleston, South Carolina these books really hit home and Jessica Peterson does it right and hits the ball out of the park every time she writes one of her books whether it’s the Southern Heat collection or the Blue Mountain collection. But God I would love to see these become movies even if they were just on Netflix or something that shit would be awesome. ~Jessica from North Carolina~
Oh and the Narrator’s are spot on. I would love to be one of them!!! And I have a real southern accent not a learned one…just saying!

Not what I was expecting
Jason Clarke and Virginia Rose did an amazing job narrating this book. They really brought the characters to life. I was enjoying the story until a conflict arose with the main character's brother. That took the story in a direction I hadn't anticipated and felt kind of icky about. I'm not saying you shouldn't listen to this book. The narration alone is fantastic. I might read it again to see if my second experience is different from the first.

Fantastic!
This is a brilliantly written, captivating, emotion-provoking, sexy, funny enemies to lovers story. The Beauregard family are very close-knit, it reminds me of my family in South Carolina. They bicker, joke, gang up against each other like siblings do, yet they are always there for each other when needed. Emma & Samuel have a magnetic pull and chemistry that is off the charts when they put their differences aside. I LOVED everything about this book; the banter amongst all the characters, family drama, and the sweet swoon-worthy moments. However, those food innuendos were PRICELESS!! Emma & Samuel have a magnetic pull and chemistry that is off the charts when they put their differences aside. Characters from the Charleston Heat series make an appearance in Southern Hotshot which is a pretty damn awesome bonus! 💕 Virginia Rose & Jason Clarke are fabulous narrators and voice artists. They do an amazing job portraying the characters, bringing them to life and humanizing them with their emotions, attitude and personality.

This is a good story but not my fav of the series
This one is good but not my favorite of the series. I did enjoy the story of these two. The internet “chats” between V and Blu were a bit much for me. The rest of the story was perfect. Samuel was such a stick in the mud. Angry but at the wrong person and for the wrong reason. Emma has the cool job as a sommelier. She butts heads with Samuel upon first meeting but wants to work thing out. The connection is easily “felt” through the story.
We get to see just a little bit of the family. Hank comes off nice and heartbroken in here so I am glad I read his book first to see how he recovers. Some of this story happens at the same time as book one so that made it kinda fun seeing Beau with Maisie again.
I did listen to this on audio. Jason Clarke and Virginia Rose did a good job narrating. While this is a good story its mot my fav of the series.

Holy HOTNESS!!!
Samuel and Emma burn up the sheets in this story! It was really HOT!!! Emma likes to take the lead in the bedroom and to Samuel's surprise he loves it!
Samuel is bound and determined not to like Emma when she comes to work for his family's resort. Emma is bound and determined to make something of herself and prove she can be just as successful as the rest of her family. These two butt heads until they don't. The connect on a work level, but on an emotional level as well and Samuel realizes he NEEDS Emma to stay.
It was great to see this family again and watch more connections through the story. This band of brothers is a fun one! Great story!
The narrators did a great job bringing this story to life.

I’m conflicted.
This is not my first Jessica Peterson book. She writes hot sex and cinnamon roll heroes. My issue lies with how she writes the women.
Emma actually starts off as a great strong character, but midway she loses it. Putting weight on some weird imposter syndrome stuff and the perfect life her sister seems to have.
Samuel is described as a former football player (with physical stats that made no sense whatsoever) who found his new calling with his family business. He also harbors some weird enemy energy with Emma as she starts working with him as the new sommelier.
Also, they unknowingly have cybersex in a chat room. This is also a weird sort of aspect. Like, is the keyboard dirty? Or do they type well one handed? My brain couldn’t comprehend the logistics with a cyber chat.
Eventually they give in to their attraction. It’s hot. Whew. But Emma was in this weird zone. And then Samuel’s brother comes in like a weird wrecking ball. I had a hard time believing a family that works together, has Sunday meals together and enjoys each other, ended up like this.
So yeah, I just wasn’t into the story like I wanted to be. The narration was amazing. Jason Clarke with a slight southern accent - swoon! Virginia Rose with her voice - adore!
Overall 3.5 stars, but I rounded up because of the audio.

Great story and narration
Ms.Peterson wove a story with characters you couldn’t help but fall for and I found myself riveted to Samuel and Emma’s story. The fact that they start out disliking one another was entertaining, as everyone around them could see the attraction and chemistry that sizzled between them.
This is a story of love and family and I loved how invested The Beauregard family is in one another’s love life. I fell hard and fast for Samuel whilst Emma is one of those women that I could easily see as a friend; she is feisty, sassy, and knows what she wants.
This was a steamy read that ticked the boxes for me. There were times I laughed, times I cried but at the end of the book, I was left with a smile on my face. Southern Hotshot was a great addition to this series; it is a little gem and one I recommend.
Having loved the book I couldn’t wait to listen to it on audio and I was not disappointed. The performances by the narrators Jason Clarke and Virginia Rose, did justice to an entertaining book and added to my enjoyment overall.

This Hotshot is on fire!!
Jessica Peterson is quickly becoming a go to one click author for me. Her stories are fantastic and her narrator casting is perfection. I was hooked on this story within 5 minutes and could not put it down. I listened to a 10 hour audiobook in 2 days without speeding up the audio. Jason Clarke in all his southern growly grumpiness is amazing as Samuel, and Virginia Rose gave a fierce performance as Emma. I love this enemies to lovers story with a dominant female submissive male power dynamic. This was a hot and emotional story. My only complaint is that I wanted more. Some of the hottest scenes were between the two characters in an internet chat room, and I would have loved to see the power dynamics play out more when the characters were in person together. I highly highly recommend this audiobook as well as all the books in the North Carolina Highlands and Charleston Heat series.

Samuel and Emma!
Samuel has transitioned from his career as a professional football player to handling the beverages and cuisine at the family owned Blue Mountain Farm. Hiring Emma due to her knowledge of wine was not Samuel’s choice and now that he is forced to work with her, he is beginning to like it even less.
Emma is determined to succeed in her career and at this job as she knows that she has education and experience to ensure it happens. She isn’t about to back from anyone or anything and that includes her new boss so it is only a matter of time before the sparks fly.
Working together Samuel and Emma may think that they know each other but they are about to find out that they don’t really know each other at all. The chemistry between them radiates off the pages and though they had their obstacles they prove that they are the perfect match both personally and professionally. I enjoyed the performance of the narrators as they brought the banter and emotion of the story to the forefront.

Bring on the wine!
What a story! Jessica Peterson does it again, bringing us an incredible enemies to lovers romance. Her amazing cast of characters lets us focus on Samuel and Emma. Emma comes to Blue Mountain Farm as the new sommelier with a fresh look and exciting ideas. Samuel, the Beauregard brother that runs the restaurant doesn't see the need for her expertise. Things are good as they are. But their banter is just foreplay, as each begins to learn and respect the boundaries and the possible ideas. Romance at the workplace is frowned upon though, and as things heat up, life gets complicated. Will these two work it out? Will Emma have to go? What will the brothers think? This is a fun, fast paced listen with an interesting story line. I enjoy Peterson's style and her stories are pure entertainment for me. Emma is a strong willed woman, and with every push she gets, she gives one right back. I love that about her, that even in this man's world, she doesn't step down. Samuel is such the typical man. So many layers, and I love seeing Emma pull each one back. Add in the secondary characters of the family and we have a vintage you can't miss.
Jason Clarke and Virginia Rose are such a great team and I am happy to see them continue this series. Clarke has the perfect twang for Samuel, and his voice just melts my heart. He sounds exactly as I imagine him, and he gives Samuel all the inflections to make his character realistic. Rose is fantastic, and pulls out such a strong woman in Emma. Each battle is easily won by this personality and Rose has her nuances in place to give her every facet of the perfect personality. Love these two and can't wait for more of this series!

I really vibe with this series.
This has a lot going for it. Banter, chemistry off the chain, an alpha male you can totally get behind and a strong heroine who knows her stuff in and out of the wine cellar. I really enjoyed the dynamic between Samuel and Emma kept me hooked and especially the narration. All the food and drink talk kept me hungry. The push and pull was electric and I'm really excited to see what's still to come from this series. I volunteered to listen and review a complimentary copy of this. All opinions are my own.

Scorching hot and emotional
This book was hotter than a volcano! There weren’t many intimate scenes, but there was so much tension between Emma and Samuel all along that it combusted my headphones.
It was hot, but it had flesh too. Foodies and wine lovers, you’re gonna enjoy this book. And it isn’t just a background. Food and wine induced beautiful scenes that helped shaping the characters and their interactions.
Though the whole premise was an extremely convenient coincidence, it was a believable enemies to lovers story. I could see their relationship evolve bit by bit–like themselves. Characters’ arcs were well defined, and the side characters had a real role in the story–especially Samuel’s brother and Emma’s sister.
As for the narration, it was perfection. The sexy chats were recorded as a duet, which made them even sexier, but the rest of the book is in dual narration. Yet, because both narrators are talented, the various voices, the accent, and the emotions were delivered amazingly well. It added some depth to an already intense story. Scorching hot and emotional, that’s an audiobook you don’t want to miss.

Terrific Story & Narration🎧 🔥Samuel💘Emma🔥
Jessica Peterson delivers another great novel in her wonderful for “North Caroline Highlands” series! This book is Emma Crawford and Samuel Beauregard’s story, an enjoyable enemies to lovers romance. It is the second book in the series and can be enjoyed on its own though I do recommend reading or listening to the first book “Southern Seducer” because it is an awesome story and it gives some more in sight on the Beauregard’s Blue Mountain Farm. After a career ending injury Samuel came to work for his family’s business, a farm turned high end resort and inn, he runs the restaurant portion of the inn. His brother has been trying to Emma, a sommelier, to work at his farm, he feels bringing her in would be good for business. Samuel and Emma butt heads right from the start, he is set in the way he runs things. He tries to challenge her but she does back down and gives as good as she gets. It does not take long for him to appreciate who she is and what she has to offer, but things are complicated, work place romance can be a risk, family drama gets in the way and then there is the whole online relationship thing going on, which was super hot. This fast paced story is beautifully plotted with plenty of drama, angst, a surprising twist or two, some heartfelt and emotional moments and a fabulous romance. Jessica Peterson, thank you for another great story and emotional rollercoaster ride, I am looking forward to Hank’s story, I hope he finds what he is looking for and gets his HEA.
🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Jason Clarke and Virginia Rose continue to bring these characters and their story to life. They do an awesome job portraying the characters giving each their own voice and personality. Jason Clarke played the perfect Samuel, sounding just as I pictured him to sound. Virginia Rose’s Emma was perfection as well. Both were great playing the secondary characters as well. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all of the characters emotions and projected them into their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another great listen🎧
