Jake Price has always dreamed of joining the Darkstream military like his father before him. When he’s told his gaming scores are good enough to qualify him for a brand-new training program designed to find recruits talented enough to pilot humanity’s first mechs, he can hardly believe it. There are hundreds of other recruits competing for the same eight jobs, and they’re all as skilled as he is. But Jake refuses to give up, because humanity is facing its greatest threat yet. Story
In the 20th century Earth sent probes, transmissions, and welcoming messages to the stars. Unfortunately, someone noticed. The Galactics arrived with their battle fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined their vast Empire. Swearing allegiance to our distant alien overlords wasn't the only requirement for survival. We also had to have something of value to trade, something that neighboring planets would pay their hard-earned credits to buy. As most of the local worlds were too civilized to have a proper army, the only valuable service Earth could provide came in the form of soldiers....

Story
When Van Tudor returns to his childhood home, he inherits more than the family farm. His grandfather used to tell him fantastic stories of spacemen and monsters, princesses and galactic knights. Little did Van realize, the old man's tales were more than fiction; they were real. Hidden beneath the old barn, Van’s legacy is waiting: a starship, not of this world. With his combat AI, an android bird named Perry, Van takes his first steps into the wider galaxy. He soon finds that space is far busier and more dangerous than he could have ever conceived.

But a doomsday machine, the Sunkiller, is heading for Earth at close to the speed of light. And unless they gather the lost alien artifacts needed to destroy it, humanity will be extinct. Best one yet!
The first half of this program was Book 3 of the series, which saw the author fall in love with the term "damage dealers" to describe the more powerful ships in the fleet. Book 4, though, really shone. It was easily the best book yet in the series, with some fantastic battle action and plot twists. I am left wanting to know all about Simon Moll. Tell me more about Simon Moll, Scott! I'm definitely looking forward to the next installment in the series.

Could not even finish it.
It should not take four novels to take down one cock sucker. They still have not taken this guy out because the main characters are all idealogs. will just get you killed for their impractical beliefs. Talk about milking a story line. I was board with this pathetic story after the fourth chapter of the third book. Totally wasted a credit on this one. I want my money back.

Great continuation of the Spacers Story
I really enjoyed this book. However, I will admit with the time lag between the release of Spacers Part I and Part II it took me a bit to recollect who was who and what was going on. Therefore I offer a suggestion to anyone starting this book, go back to Spacers Part I and listen to the last few minutes when Mark Boyett reads the Glossary that quickly explains the major players and current events to help get you up to speed prior to starting this one.

Yet another great book by one of my favourite authors. A fantastic addition to the Spacers series! Will Thatcher continue to survive and evolve his tactics to continue freeing the cluster from tyranny?

Unity 151 review - enjoyable
I was given this for free and I’ll review it truthfully.
I have listened to the first two and now I’ve listened to the this.
Overall I enjoyed it. Lots of moving parts showing it has a slight grandness. Schemes and some shadow work. A few betrayals that I knew would come and a few things is didn’t see coming.
Now I’m a huge lover of action in my sci and I personally can not have enough. For this it was on the lower end of action for me. And when the action happened it wasn’t in as much detail as I personally like. But saying that the action was fun. I always like action from start to finish and that’s how I am.
I think I give the first spacers a 3.7 and this is better. I would say 3.9/4.0.
A good book and enjoyable. Left with questions still and a few things unanswered.

Enjoyable Sequel
Continuing the trials and tribulations of Vin Husher this book picks up where Spacers left off.
Unfortunately for me it was quite a long time ago that I listened to the first book and it took me a while to get back into the swing of things. In hindsight I would have liked a refresher before starting this book but I remembered most of the main characters.
It was when we came across some of the lesser characters I had to struggle to remember where we had met them before.
We have more space drama, epic battles and Hushers famous tactics that we saw in the last book but the stakes are invariably higher than they have been before.
I enjoyed the book and am looking forward to the next installment.

Fantastic audiobook
Brilliant story, an amazing second book. Great narration. So, you dream of becoming a spaceship captain? then this is the series for you. Good Luck Spacer. Written from inside a mech, which is inside the hangar bay of a light armored cruiser stationed just past Jupiter? Oh how I yearn for the days that will be as nonchalant as drinking tea on a veranda.
