it could have been so much better

Please be aware that the ‘narration’ is not performed directly by a human - it is an automated replay of a human voice that has been pre recorded saying the vocabulary used, but not someone actually reading the story. A bit like sat nav voices! As a result, some of he automated translations are not correct, which makes it very confusing and frustrating. For example in one story, when the female protagonist calls up her female friend, the narration called her ‘he’ and ‘she’ randomly, I had to rewind 5 times to realise what was going on. For the money paid, surely it wouldn't be that hard to get a real person to actually read aloud the short stories? There are some test questions at the end of each chapter, which are great, except the answers are given as a list of letters eg. 1A, 2C, 3B etc...again, would it be so hard to repeat back the actual answer eg. 1= A - la biblioteca, 2= C -pintura, etc. rather than having to memorise the correct answers as letters and then try and remember that sequence at the end when they give all the answers. Hint - have a pen and paper ready when they ask the questions or it is quite a challenge to remember your answers as a list of letters afterwards. Final criticism is that the Spanish used is for latin American spanish, not for those living in Spain. Although it is mostly very similar, there are other words that I have never heard spoken in Spain (the word for slippers for example, is given as pantuflas, but in Spain they say Zapatillas) this is fine, but it should make that clear before you buy the book. Cons: It is actually very well constructed as a learning tool, and if they had used a live person to narrate, therefore giving an accurate translation, and also gave full answers it could have actually been really good. I am aware that most of the great reviews for this book are written by non native English speakers.
