I took speech therapy when I was in 3rd grade for a lisp. I wish the speech therapist had this book when she was working with me. The information in this book is presented in easy-to-understand terms for all sorts of folks who work with or deal with children on a daily basis and want to help them communicate better. Thank you for creating such a wonderful resource!

Very informative & useful.

I listened to this audio because work with children and have found it to be a very useful and informative handbook.

The author explains clearly how to identify speech and language problems and delays from an early age, how to use Makaton and how to implement therapies to support and develop language.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who suspects their young child is struggling to communicate and anyone working with young children.

Very informative!!

I'm babysitter and this book couldn't have come at a better time since the baby I take care of has been needing some help with his speech. I think that the techniques that are shown in this book really do make difference if applied consistently. I'm eager to see how much this little one has improved in a longer time frame. I would highly recommend this book to a parent, grandparent, caretaker or anyone that love or assists a child with a speech delay.

Relevant to today's current knowledge and events

I really appreciated that the context of this book painted how social growth of kids is impacted by the pandemic. I was not expecting that coverage but it was absolutely helpful! The age markers and behaviors to see how your child is doing was also incredibly helpful in helping my mindset and understanding.

Fabulous family resource

This audiobook is quite a treat for my family who includes a child with special educational needs. I now understand a lot more about the mechanics of speech disorders and the author goes into detail about the causes and characteristics of varying speech disorders. I learnt a lot from this book and would recommend it wholeheartedly for people who may be concerned about their children's speech or if your child has been diagnosed with a speech disorder or delay.

Comprehensive and reassuring

This is a fantastic book on all things language, speech and kids. We know all children acquire language differently and the are major differences in language between the sexes too. This book gives a fascinating (and reassuring if you're a parent) insight into just how kids to pick up languages, develop sounds and how you can spot differences in ability, analyse possible causes and get the right help if needed. Lots of ways you can actively help your kids are detailed and the book is well written and genuinely interesting!
