Publisher's Summary

The 11th book in the fast-paced InCryptid urban fantasy series returns to the mishaps of the Price family, eccentric cryptozoologists who safeguard the world of magical creatures living in secret among humans.

Love, noun:

  1. An intense feeling of deep affection; may be romantic, filial, or platonic.

Passion, noun:

  1. A strong or barely controllable emotion.
  2. Enthusiasm, interest, desire.
  3. See also “obsession”.

It’s been 50 years since the crossroads caused the disappearance of Thomas Price, and his wife, Alice, has been trying to find him and bring him home ever since, despite the increasing probability that he’s no longer alive for her to find. Now that the crossroads have been destroyed, she’s redoubling her efforts. It’s time to bring him home, dead or alive.

Preferably alive, of course, but she’s tired, and at this point, she’s not that picky. It’s a pan-dimensional crash course in chaos, as Alice tries to find the rabbit hole she’s been missing for all these decades - the one that will take her to the man she loves.

Who are her allies? Who are her enemies? And if she manages to find him, will he even remember her at this point?

It’s a lot for one cryptozoologist to handle.

Not the best InCryptid

Virtually no family present. Not really about InCrypteds. Too long stand-alone story only about Alice.

The best Incriptid novel yet!

It's always good to get the holes in your foundation filled in. I feel like that's what happened with this installment of the series. It has seemed to me that the entire series of events up to the beginning of this book was balancing on a layer only hinted at, but not seen. That layer was the story of Alice and Thomas. With that layer filled in, the disparate lives of the characters in the other storylines have something to come together on.

I know this review is kind of cryptic, but it's hard to explain without either analogies or spoilers. I really do enjoy the way the overarching story is beginning to make itself known, though.

A fun read!!!

What a fun read... This is the 11th book in Seanan's wonderful InCryptid series, it's absolutely a new beginning, stand-alone novel, and you could actually start the series here, but why would you want to?!? As you would miss the generational history of this Family's Saga as the story ARC unfolds! This is the story of Alice Price and her final trip through Hell as she dedicated 50 years of her adult life to find her husband Thomas, either to confirm his death or save him from the evil deal he made with the "Crossroads". A deal he made so many years ago and the only choice that would save Alice's life!
As a side note, I'm a Patreon for Seanan Mcguire, and the monthly stories sometimes are InCryptid shorts! So I've been following Alice since her birth and this book feels like a culmination to her story! But don't get me wrong, I don't know what Seanan Mcguire has up her sleeve, there could be another novel. If not you can be certain that Alice will still make regular appearances as more books are written in the family saga!

A strong book with a stumble

I think this is a wonderful book with a lot of interesting aspects to it, tying up a lot of things throughout the series that have been hanging so far. I love the story put on display here, covering Alice's journey with an enjoyable series of adventures. That being said, the villain of this book was not my favorite, a little cartoonish in ny opinion. Otherwise, a great addition to the series.

Never write reviews

I am not sure why there are some that are saying this is the worst in the series, because quite honestly to me this was one of the best. I didn't want the book to end. This series is one of the top series I have listened. I love how this one filled in a lot of the gaps that were missing and I cannot wait for the next in the series.

Blah!

I enjoyed previously published books in this series, but this one is a flop. It comes across as a space filler to meet a contract. Plot is explored by throwing sci-fi babble and referencing the previous books. Boring, no real character or plot development and just no fun.

Once again, seanan kicks some serious booty!

I was a Toby Daye fan, then an Indexing fan, then Wayward Children fan, and then I read the Incryptid series; and, as one might guess, I am now a serious Incryptid fan! this woman is the absolute sh*t!!! The absolute feline's posterior!

That Was So Satisfying

I've loved this series ever since I stumbled across it on Audible, and this was just.... amazing. I don't have the words to describe it accurately. Highly recommended, although you Really want to have read the rest of the series first.
