Publisher's Summary

Authority is a tremendous thing in the universe, nothing overshadows it. God's throne is established on His authority. God's authority represents God Himself. God alone is authority in all things; all the authorities of the earth are instituted by God. It is therefore important for us who desire to serve God to know the authority of God.

God's authority is absolute, hence we must give Him absolute submission (our heart's attitude) and absolute obedience (our outward actions). But to His delegated authorities we can render absolute submission, but only relative obedience. For their authorities are circumscribed by the measure of the life of Christ in them. Only when they themselves submit to God's authority in them are they able to represent God. Hence there is much we have to learn about how to represent God.

Weak Exegesis

Many of the good points toward the end of the book are overshadowed by dangerous points early in the book. Our Authority is Christ, and His infallible Word. We can't put our trust in fallible men, no matter their rank or title. Furthermore, Nee doesn't address the limits of jurisdiction for authorities. A minister of the Gospel doesn't have inherent civil authority, nor does a civil authority have inherent authority in the Church.

By reading his books helps me grow in my spiritual walk, he backs everything back to the Bible.

Listen to Part 2 First

I'll be honest with you. I had a hard time getting through the 1st part of the book. Without the context of how authority is achieved under God's own authority and the proper way authority should be exercised (2nd part of the book), the 1st part (how to submit under authority) is very difficult to swallow. I would have enjoyed this book much more if part 1 and part 2 were switched. I am very glad I stuck it out and listened to the whole book, because I really learned a lot about God's authority, how to lead from humility, and how to submit to God's authority as well as his delegated authority.

I did not know this subject in the way I needed!

After one hearing, I have learned a deeper understanding of Who is God. God is 1st Person and Present in His Creation - by His own Authority. This is a significant Ontological offering that has informed my Theology! A must for Ministry!

Authoritative book on authority

Written from the notes of people who listened to Nee's lectures, this book offers a 3D perspective on God's authority as exercised through people. It also explores our weaknesses in submitting to it, as well as our tendency to abuse it. Very convicting book, and made to help believers grow.

Remarkable piece of work. <br />

Living and walking in the spirit. Beginning at the right place obedience.
Knowing God is all authority, must be a relevation by the holyspirit. This writing gives the reader practical insight into not only what to do but the way also to walk in it.
Authority why some have it. Who gave it to them. Best of all how one may obtain it through his service to God. Behind the pages of this book is the mystery of growth and the fathers power.
