Publisher's Summary

Island Chaptal - nerdy IT engineer by day, romance novel junkie by night - just walked into her messy New York apartment to find Mr. Right waiting for her. No, wait...Mr. Clean.

A gentleman professional killer with a bad case of OCD and zero tolerance for unsorted laundry, March isn't there to kill her...yet. He wants the diamond her late mother stole for a sinister criminal organization. Island agrees to help him find it, facing the kind of adversaries who dismember first and ask questions later. Good thing she's got March to show her the ropes. And the guns. And the knives.

The buttoned-up Island is soon having a blast racing from Paris to Tokyo following the clues in her mother's will, and for the first time, she's ready to get close to someone. But falling for a hit man may be the very definition of loving dangerously.

Has everything you ever want in a book

I loved this book. Its our of my normal genre but something caught my eye and I am glad it did. Spotless is a fun read with everything you need; laughs, tears, adventure and a small amount of romance.. I think the author and the narrator both did an amazing job with the multiple languages and made the translations clear for the readers.

It is defiantly worth a credit and your time. Now off to read the next one.

Shallow characters, painful plot and narration

Encouraged by all the five-star reviews, I was hoping to find a new series to enjoy. Unlike Stephanie Plum, Her Royal Spyness, Phryne Fisher and other quasi-cozy mysteries, Spotless was a severe disappointment. The characters are so poorly and thinly drawn that it's hard to have empathy. The main character, Island, has childish temper tantrums, doesn't ask obvious questions and yet belabors asking other "inconvenient questions" by her own reckoning. The humor falls flat. The plot, which is likely part of the joke given the torrid fake romance novel quotes, is a series of unexplained and unwarranted events. The narrator makes Island sound a petulant 12 not 25 and March the assassin's alleged British accent is unbelievably bad. If you are willing to suspend disbelief and supply a lot of your own hopes and fantasies to backdrop the storyline, then this will work for you. If you like the author to paint a world and develop characters with some substance and to create a experience where you can "visit", this will be most likely be a miss.

Enjoyable, funny and worth the ride!

The plot flows from beginning to end. You can't help but route for a happy ending.

Highly Recommended

What a fun start to a new series. These two lovebirds get up to all kinds of shenanigans that caused me to laugh uncontrollably. Loved the chemistry between them and can't wait for the next book.

Fun, suspense and weirdly romantic

Island is living a normal, if not boring, life with her socially awkward ways. Until she is kidnapped. Then she embarks on a frightening and yet intriguing journey in which nothing is as it seems. This story will keep you listening and trying to figure out just what the heck is going on. I really enjoyed the book and am looking forward to reading book 2 of the series.

Amazing, Amazing, Amazing

This book is such a great beginning book for this series. You'll love Island and March. It is the beginning of a budding romance!

So much fun!

If you are looking for a deep and meaningful read, this isn't the book, but you should have figured that out by the cover and description. If you are looking for a funny romp that pulls at your heartstrings, jump in! I love when I find funny authors who write rom-com that's not so explicit. I'm on book 3 now and hoping that she comes out with another one soon!

Spotless has it all!

What do you get when you combine an OCD "cleaner" with a virgin?
A fun, suspenseful and complex story.
Yes, there are guns involved and some uh... killing and a kidnapping - but the story is so much more!
Amy McFadden does a brilliant narration. Her typical reading is quite precise and I may have even whined about that in a previous review. I take it all back. I'm sorry, Amy. She gave tension, humor, plus FRENCH & JAPANESE - for heaven's sake!
Beautifully done Amy!
Ms. Monk, you have a fan. I can't download the next book quickly enough!

Childish

The story really has potential, but Island is so immature, childish and whiny, it really is painful to listen to the story.
Had to stop half way through the book.

Feisty techy heroine, high jinx ensue

I really enjoyed this book. The heroine is smart and feisty and though she has distinct damsel in distress moments, these at least feel like a genuine result of her being thrown into a world she doesn't know, rather than it being "so hot" some guy saves her. The fake quotes at the beginning of each chapter are hysterical and a nice poke in the eye of trashy romances - a genre I hate to love. Amy McFadden does a solid job of bringing the book to life.

Great book, well narrated

I love this series and it is very well narrated - my only gripe is the French, which is not pronounced well at all, - however, that aside, it's awesome :)
