Publisher's Summary

The Forge is coming back online, weapons hot and searching known space for signs of the Golden.

When Dash and Leira repair a powerful scanner, it finds something unusual in a distant system - the remains of an ancient battlefield. Custodian tells of a fight lost long ago, leaving drifting debris around the faraway star.

But the battlefield isn't forgotten. A human colony has taken hold nearby, and on their world, a single, massive ship has crashed.

And it is sending out a signal.

In a race against the enemy, Dash and his team will try to salvage the secrets of a Golden ship, warn the colony of the oncoming war, and brace for impact as more enemies streak across the stars to hunt down the one person who can stop them.

The Messenger.

Wait for BOXSET

Most of this is lovable slow story building for a long opera. A little slow as 3rd in series tend to be. At 6 hours, it’s def not worth your credit. When it is 3-4-5 for one credit, it’s a go.

Not a Space Story

The previous 2 books had space battles, aliens, a mech warrior ... this book was a basic dungeon run.

Disappointed

I really liked the first two books, but this one fell short, in my opinion!

Sadly it seemed to drag!

the epic continues!

I can't get enough of this story. The narrator continues to do a wonderful job bringing it to life, and the writing is just really fun. Loving the characters and plot. Keep them coming, please!

Star Trek Vger and Star Trek Borg's ...

off-spring. J.N. Chaney and Terry Maggert team-up to again create an interesting continuation in the series. While the Forge is coming more online with the additional cores, the team now discovers that they need to acquire, in addition to Unseen cores, the Golden's dark matter for sophisticated weapons and offensive crafts and in order to acquire it they must venture out to the distant part of the galaxy where one of the last epic battles occurred between the two master races. Of course there are new encounters with other entities along with death defying encounters with more Golden baddies. The book moves the story forward while also broadening the listeners understanding of the Golden's genesis history.

Jeffrey Kafer continues to provide a good performance but his style often comes off as declarative statements from every character which made me want to slap them for being so over-bearing. Still, I enjoyed this book and plan to continue the series.

Meh.

Honestly? If Buzz Lightyear played way too many video games and then wrote a sci-fi series, it would resemble this. Characters are 2 dimensional stereotypes, and the story reads like a video game with a weak plot. I hope the writing improves later in the series, but I don't intend to find out.
