Angrboda’s story begins where most witches' tales end: with a burning. A punishment from Odin for refusing to provide him with knowledge of the future, the fire leaves Angrboda injured and powerless, and she flees into the farthest reaches of a remote forest. There she is found by a man who reveals himself to be Loki, and her initial distrust of him transforms into a deep and abiding love.

Publisher's Summary
A woman’s heart proves as infinite as the night sky in a breathtaking fantasy by Wall Street Journal bestselling author Charlie N. Holmberg.
When a star dies, a new one must be born.
The Sun God chooses the village of Endwever to provide a mortal womb. The birthing of a star is always fatal for the mother, and Ceris Wenden, who considers herself an outsider, sacrifices herself to secure her family’s honor and take control of her legacy. But after her star child is born, Ceris does what no other star mother has: she survives. When Ceris returns to Endwever, however, it’s not nine months later - it’s seven hundred years later. Inexplicably displaced in time, Ceris is determined to seek out her descendants.
Being a woman traveling alone brings its own challenges, until Ceris encounters a mysterious - and desperate - godling. Ristriel is incorporeal, a fugitive, a trickster, and the only being who can guide Ceris safely to her destination. Now, as Ceris traverses realms both mortal and beyond, her journey truly begins.
Together, pursued across the Earth and trespassing the heavens, Ceris and Ristriel are on a path to illuminate the mysteries that bind them and discover the secrets of the celestial world.

Too many questions
To move the story forward or to provide background information, the author had the main character either pondering numerous questions or asking numerous questions. The words, “she had so many questions, were repeated far too many times. Although the story was imaginative and well crafted, just questioning literary device was tedious at best.

I tried to love this story
on completion of this book I could not love this book
the performance is amazing and the writing is engulfing
but love triangles and the lack or growth gets me
yes this books encompasses the love of a mother and the love you have for the father of your child. Unfortunately so much of this story speaks of a immature child who only grows small.amounts
I can acknowledge a damaged soul and how that effects maturity but this was too much for me
it is a romance that is not for everyone . At the same time it is not labeled as a romance so take head that this is only an opinion

Beautiful Story with Great Narration!
I’m a reader and have always struggled to listen to audiobooks. My mind tends to wander off with the spoken word and it takes a strong performance and story to keep my attention in an audiobook. I have to say that this one has it all!
I loved the story, but most importantly for Audible, I loved the narration. The artist brought the characters to life and had a great pace. Her performance was engaging, the characters (both male and female) were distinct, and you could hear the emotions in her voice.
It would be a selling point to me in choosing my next audiobook if I saw it was narrated by Khristine Hvam. Well done!

Beautiful story and beautiful writing
I listened to this story a few weeks ago and I can’t stop thinking about it. It was beautifully written and I loved the rich, vivid, unique story. It wasn’t fast paced like a lot of the smut I read, but I still enjoyed the journey of falling in love with the characters as I slowly got to know them.

Fantastic & Unique
The story and the narration are both excellent - the premise is so different the question that came to my mind was where the story might have originated from.
Since others have already given synopsis, I'll simply say you have a clean story that immediately gets your attention and holds it. There are some intimations of necessary acts that don't go into detail & no foul language.
The word pictures give a great 'Theater of the Mind' experience and no cliffhangers, though I am most definitely going to be listening to the sequel! I bought the book as well and will be reading for a full immersive experience with this story, too.
Highly Recommend!

unique plot but cliche romance and stilted writing
The narration is a little dry and awkward, although they had their work cut out for them with the stilted language used. Every sentence is peppered with things like "within a hands breadth of where the godling stood before me" while every meal is "breaking my fast" and things like outdoors is "out of doors". It's whimsical in moderation, but moderation came and went with this one.
SPOILERS
On top of the language of the book feeling forced, a lot of the plot feels forced as well. Even from the start, she decides over night to basically kill herself because the boy she likes wants someone else and she isn't close to her family. She then spends the rest of the book missing and pining for them constantly, while also pining for her lost child, while also pining for the sun God, while also pining for the new godling man who enters the scene. Who of course, enters the plot effortlessly, is mysterious and handsome, oh and just so happens to be instantly enamoured with her and does things like constantly assure her that he will "always protect you" and says all the right things to make her feel better, and they both seem to instantly feel close and comfortable with each other.
All in all, I really want to like the book. It's very unique, interesting and creative. But I think the plot ended up a little shallow and cliche, when there was so much more potential

Dull
Got off to a good start, but then moved slowly before rushing a half baked ending. Could potentially have covered several stories, but not confident the tale was strong enough for that.
