very nice abridgement, but...

This reading does bring you right into the action, expressing the emotions very well. But it's too short! I whole heartedly recommend reading the book for a more detailed and encompassing version of the story. Fans will be able to hear the voices of their favorite characters in their minds as they read. The more complete version of this story is even more satisfying than this well rendered audio version. Either way, it's easy to become emotionally involved and invested in Spock's reunion with his son. However, if you have only a limited time and need to be hands-free, this audiobook is a very good way to spend a little time in the Star Trek universe.

Somewhat annoying

Being very familiar with this book as I have it in my paperback library I have to say that I would have enjoyed the audio version much more if the annoying sound effects in the recording were eliminated. At times they actually drown out the narration of James Doohan and Lenoard Nimoy.

Loved it!

Spock, Kirk & McCoy travel through time to once again save the universe. This book is a great follow up to Yesterday's Son.

Short but good

I listened to this book while fishing in virtual reality before work.
it was a good read. although abridged, it was very good and I thoroughly enjoyed it while castibg my reel on the shore of a beach on a rainy day in south Korea . The production was really good with the voices of Leonard Nimoy and James Doohan. the production included Audio FX. and original theme music - easy read and enjoyable while I'm in my own " holodeck"

A good book with no space battles.

I picked this book randomly because I was looking for some trek. It was not a bad book. I was just looking for a book with space battles.

These two companion books, give closure and answer the questions of what happened in that adventure. I recommend these two books for any star trek TOS fan.

Star Trek: Yesterday's Son. This book is the prequel to this book. Nice to hear this book first to get some background information

Optional sequel

It wasn't strictly necessary after Tomorrow's Son. But nice to see what had happened to Zar. After listening to many regular audiobooks, I found all the sound effects a bit distracting at first. But eventually I came to like them. It's super short and more of a radio play, than a traditional audiobook. If you have that mentality going in, you should enjoy it.

not their finest hour

considering they manage to save theentire universe this time, this is a lacklustre affair that will make little sense to anyone who has not read or heard yesterdays son.
