Story
Twenty years have passed since Darth Bane, reigning Dark Lord of the Sith, demolished the ancient order devoted to the dark side and reinvented it as a circle of two: one Master to wield the power and pass on the wisdom, and one apprentice to learn, challenge, and ultimately usurp the Dark Lord in a duel to the death. But Bane’s acolyte, Zannah, has yet to engage her Master in mortal combat and prove herself a worthy successor. Determined that the Sith dream of galactic domination will not die with him, Bane vows to learn the secret of a forgotten Dark Lord that will assure the Sith’s immortality - and his own.

In the New York Times best-seller Darth Bane: Path of Destruction, Drew Karpyshyn painted a gripping portrait of a young man’s journey from innocence to evil. That man was Darth Bane, a twisted genius whose iron will, fierce ambition, and strength in the dark side of the Force made him a natural leader among the Sith - until his radical embrace of an all-but-forgotten wisdom drove him to destroy his own order...and create it anew from the ashes.

Publisher's Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
In this pivotal prequel to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the heroes of the Resistance—Poe Dameron, General Leia Organa, Rey and Finn—must fight back from the edge of oblivion.
The Resistance is in ruins. In the wake of their harrowing escape from Crait, what was once an army has been reduced to a handful of wounded heroes. Finn, Poe, Rey, Rose, Chewbacca, Leia Organa—their names are famous among the oppressed worlds they fight to liberate. But names can only get you so far and Leia’s last desperate call for aid has gone unanswered.
From the jungles of Ryloth to the shipyards of Corellia, the shadow of the First Order looms large, and those with the bravery to face the darkness are scattered and isolated. If hope is to survive, the Resistance must journey throughout the galaxy, seeking out more leaders—including those who, in days gone by, helped a nascent rebellion topple an empire. Battles will be fought, alliances will be forged and the Resistance will be reborn.

As good as the Legends titles
An engaging bridge between 8-9 and much better than previous entries to the new canon, this story flowed well with plenty of action and character insights. As others have mentioned, Episode 9 could have learnt a thing or two from the writing of this book...my only surprise was how sidelined Rey seemed compared to the other main characters but ultimately this could have been to allow for more natural combat engagements, without the power of the Force stealing the show. The narrator did a good job of consistently differentiating the different voices and his Poe was stellar!

A true episode 9
This story would have made a better episode 9 and would have fit a lot better in to the main story. What we got for episode 9 could have been polished up for episode 10 or even 11.
Congratulations 👏 to Rebecca.

Marc Thompson does a fantastic job!
This is my first audiobook in ages and my first foray into the SW extended universe. The whole experience was great; I loved the music and sound effects, and Marc Thompson does a really great job with embodying characters we know and love (his Poe and Leia are particularly good). I wish the author had gone a little more into some of the plot that lead into the 9th movie but that might have been down to restrictions. It was great to see some character development for Poe following his mutiny in The Last Jedi!

Amazing storytelling!
Really engaging story, wish there was more of it. And the audio narrator was amazing, I could really hear the voices of the characters I actually thought I heard Oscar Issac's voice for Poe Dameron.

Rushed Audio, Shallow Plot
I think this is the last Star Wars audiobook I'll buy. The narrator has a rather distracting habit of making all the characters sound like they're perpetually annoyed and rolling their eyes and also tries way too hard to make even the most mundane sentence sound exciting and mind-blowing. His southern accent also slips in every now and then which is off-putting when he voices characters that shouldn't have one like Leia.
Story is good and I enjoyed it as a follow up to the Battlefront II video game. Does feel more like a side quest instead of a major revitalisation of the Resistance though. Also the sub-plot with the secretary being abused by her boss is as boring as it is out of place in a Star Wars book. Would have much rather spent more time with Rey or Iden's daughter.

A MUST READ FOR THE HARD CORE FAN. EXCELLENT!
This book is exciting, meaningful and adds so much preamble to what we should expect to watch in The Rise of Skywalker.
Heaps of old known characters and mentions from all the Star Wars lore. It brings emotional moments, exciting action situations, nostalgia, the lot!
Read it, no really, is very very good!
