Publisher's Summary

Far in the future, 60,000 light-years from Earth, a loose confederacy of Terran exiles is locked with the enigmatic Protoss and ruthless Zerg swarm. Each species struggles to ensure its own survival among the stars in a war that will herald the beginning of mankind's greatest chapter or foretell its violent, bloody end.

Danny Liberty was a good reporter...too good. When his investigations struck too close to the heart of the corrupt Terran Confederacy, he faced a simple choice: continue his current series of exposés, or take a hazardous new assignment covering the Marines on the front lines of the Koprulu Sector. It didn't take him long to decide....

Behind the attacks of the Zerg and the Protoss lies the story of a lifetime, but every piece of information blurs the mystery further. Thrown into the middle of a war where the outcome will determine mankind's very survival, the only thing that Danny Liberty knows for sure is that the only person he can trust to keep him alive is himself.

An alternative look at the SC1 campaign

Neil does a great job and I truly want him to narrate more things like this, his gruff voice is perfect for war dramas

the story is viewed through the eyes of Mike Liberty and goes over the lore and human campaign of most of SC1, possibly Brood war since it so long since I played those 2 that i can't remember where one starts and another ends

A must listen for all Starcraft fans.

Neil Kaplans voice is just a masterpiece for characters such as Jim Raynor or Mengsk.

The plot is great as well, especially if your memories of the first game are blurry.

Just as it was told, SC1. Only with another soul.

The Narrator. Neil Kaplan. Does the possible best damn job as usual in telling the story.

Best StarCraft Novel So Far

I’ve listened to several of the StarCraft novels due to the recent sale Audible completed. This one is the best one I’ve listened to so far. Nostalgia is probably playing a role here, but it doesn’t take away from the good experience. I think the author did an excellent job of adding depth to familiar characters and adding more detail to the familiar story of the first Terran comparing for the original StarCraft game. The narrator does an excellent job with the voices and conveying emotion through his reading. If you liked the story of the first game, then this is a great add-on that will further appreciation for characters like Raynor and Kerrigan. I liked Mike Liberty quite a bit as well.

Good for people who haven’t played.

To people who have played the game, especially those that love it enough to hear the audiobook, this is not for you. It retells Episode 1: Rebel Yell with just a bit more realistic feel on what had already happened. There’s also a bunch of retcons.
Nonetheless if you’re similar to me, and love Neil Kaplan’s performance, this is another good one.

Otherwise, this is a book you would recommend to someone who doesn’t play games, but want to talk about StarCraft to.

Awesome Book!!!

If you are a StarCraft lover, you need to hear/read this book. It’s a little on the short side, but still one of my favorite stories. I absolutely loved it. The narrator did a fantastic job re-creating the voices of the characters.

Excellent.

I have been a long term fan of the StarCraft universe and have bought a number of the books on Kindle. This was my first StarCraft audible. It is as excellent combination of storytelling and voice narration with plenty of great tie ins to the game.

Thoroughly enjoyed
