Story
The first time I met Merrick Crawford was during my job interview. Well, technically, I’d met him 20 minutes earlier when he’d barged into a fitting room a few doors down from my appointment. I yelled. He yelled. After an argument while standing in my bra, I proceeded to smash the door into the gorgeous jerk, trying to yank it shut. As you might imagine, I was freaked out when I discovered that the rude guy was my potential new boss. Yet he didn’t seem to recognize me. Or so I thought.... Until we wound up bickering again during my interview and he told me to go sniff my armpit.

The first time I met Hudson Rothschild was at a wedding. I’d received an unexpected invitation to one of the swankiest venues in the city. Hudson was a groomsman and quite possibly the most gorgeous man I’d ever laid eyes on. He asked me to dance, and our chemistry was off the charts. I knew it wasn’t a good idea to get involved with him, considering the wedding I was at. But our connection was intense, and I was having a great time. Though the fun came to a screeching halt when Hudson figured out I wasn’t who I’d said I was.

Am I friends with JP Cane? Ha! That's laughable. Besides the fact that he’s adopted some far-fetched notion from the movie When Harry Met Sally that says men and women can't be friends and work together, it’s safe to say we're not friends. He's annoyingly loud, obnoxiously handsome, and has made an art out of poking all my hot buttons...multiple times a day. So you can imagine how disgruntled I am when I not only have to fly to San Francisco with him for work, but stay in the same penthouse. Yup, we're sharing the same air, 24-7. We're talking full-fledged working roommates.

Admittedly, it was a moment of weakness on my part. But even the strong-willed have been known to fall for a hard body underneath a tailored suit and a five o’clock shadow coating a sharp jawline. It didn’t matter that Jackson St. James was nothing but trouble. Trouble was just my type. Been there. Done him. Not making that mistake again. We were friends, a low-key affair we designed ourselves—over before we began. After all, together we made no sense. But maybe, just maybe, he’ll surprise me. He has before.... We may have started with a kiss, but how will we end?

I’ve tried to like Adrian Savage, the mercurial frontman for Fugitive Summer, while serving as his band’s opening act on tour. We’re stuck together for three months, after all. And I’m well aware I’m lucky to be here. But it’s proved impossible. He’s far too rude and dismissive a guy to get along with. And way too good at getting under my skin. My love story all started with a letter. Only it wasn’t from the man I’d eventually fall in love with. It was from his daughter. A sweet little girl named Birdie Maxwell who’d written to the magazine that I worked for. You see, once a year my employer fulfilled a few wishes for readers. Only that column didn’t start up again for months. So I fulfilled some of her wishes myself. It was harmless…so I thought. Until one day I took things too far. While anonymously granting yet another of Birdie’s wishes, I got a look at her father.

Publisher's Summary
An ambitious exec and a reluctant rock star sizzle in this workplace romantic comedy about music’s redemptive power, hogging the bed, and finding love.
Bright and ambitious Marin Collins sees her new internship with a prestigious PR firm as a stepping stone to a much-needed permanent position. But her plans for career success are derailed when she’s assigned to go on the road with rock band Kings Quarters, hailed by Rolling Stone as the next big thing. To gain full-time employment, she’ll need to stick to her “no workplace romance” policy and resist the sexy and nerdy rock star on the tour bus.
Enter Brad Osterhauser, the reluctant guitarist who would rather be coding computer games than penning Grammy-nominated songs. While grateful for the band’s success, he’s trapped on tour out of loyalty to the brother and bandmate who helped him escape a depressing home life. His outlook about the current tour improves immensely when he’s smitten by the smart and stunning PR executive who joins the tour.
Traveling by bus, city to city, with a group of practical joking bandmates and a greedy manager, Marin and Brad forge a friendship and forbidden romance over a shared love of Seinfeld episodes, stolen moments, and Red Vines.
Will Marin and Brad’s secret passions destroy both their careers, or take desire to the ultimate encore?
If you love a slow burn romance with laugh-out-loud moments, forced proximity, and sizzling chemistry, scroll up now to buy the book.

This is a sweet and fun love story. While it was a little light on Rock Star behavior, I think that is what I liked about it most. Brad was more of a closet nerd than a Rock Star and I love me a sexy smart guy. Marin is the PR Rep that was sent on tour with the band to help with their online presence. I enjoyed her character because she wasn't in awe of the fame, just there to do her job and she did give a good effort at not falling for Brad. These two made sense, they had the chemistry and they also had heat! I giggled a bunch at the jokes and antics the band members played on each other. Great romantic comedy, can't wait to see more from this author.
Erin Mallon & Sebastian York.... You can't go wrong with these narrators! They are both fantastic and let me tell you, Erin did an AMAZING job with all the jokes, for example I cracked up hearing her talk like her mouth was completely numb LOL

Overall 4 stars

Story 4 stars
What a cute twist on the rock star romance! There's a bit of forbidden (boss/employee), forced proximity, and a delicious slow burn in Starfish, as well as lots of laughs thanks to some very inventive pranks. The behind the scenes and the details of the what goes on during a band tour were really interesting. I enjoyed the build up between Marin and Brad (though there's quite a bit of instalust at the start), and how their relationship went from friendship to more. The adorkable moments were the best (Harry Potter! Star Wars!) and I loved that they had so much more than just a physical connection. There was some drama late in the book that felt a bit over the top, but given the situation, it was easy to understand how assumptions and emotions could get out of hand quickly. I really loved the epilogue though and the peek into the future for the band was just right. There's also a novella available called Dear Future Self, which is about the former front man for Kings Quarter, Jase Connors.
Erin Mallon and Sebastian York were fantastic as usual and I am always impressed with their range and ability to voice male and female characters so well. York's voice was a smidge too deep for me since Brad was described as more lean and not quite as over the top alpha as some other romance heroes, but I still loved his performance.

Absolutely loved it
This book was so much fun to listen to and I absolutely loved the characters. I usually don’t gravitate towards the rockstar romance genre but I had seen such good reviews for this one so I thought I would give it a try. If you’re on the fence about it I highly recommend it.

Fun!
This one was a really fun slow burn. I really enjoyed how Marin was so about her job and not starry eyed over the musicians. Enter Brad. Still, he got her attention. It was a fun ride. It got slightly strange for a bit at the end. But, it was cleared up quick and didn’t really detract. Overall, it had a satisfying finish.
Erin Mallon did an amazing job, as. Always. I’m a fan of these 2 narrators and them together was great. This is my first book by this author and I can’t wait for more.

So Good!
I really enjoyed this. It's sweet, sexy, and surprisingly realistic. It's well written with a fast moving plot. I love the dual POV, I get a good feel for, and connection with, both characters.
Marin and Brad were so cute and had strong chemistry. I love how they encouraged each other to go for their goals. All of the characters felt real and I liked the growth we saw. I enjoyed the pranks that went on amongst the bandmates.
The narration by Erin Mallon and Sebastian York was absolutely fantastic. You couldn't ask for better performances, they perfectly delivered the humour and sweetness.
I highly recommend this, especially the audio version.

Vivacious, Charming, Sexy, and Funny
This slow-burn romantic comedy is wonderfully entertaining. I think that Mariana Zapata, Helen Hoang, and Sylvie Stewart have some fierce new competition for writing the best slow-burns and funny contemporary romances. This is the first book by Lisa Becker that I have experienced, and her writing was so good. The entire situation and the characters seem so real and yet so captivating. The dialogue sparkles with something special. It is such a feel-good story that I will definitely listen to again. I totally recommend this audiobook to anyone who likes romantic comedies, slow-burn romances, rock star romances, and/or contemporary romances.
Finally, a rock star who is a good guy! Of course, Brad has a dirty mind, but that is great in a book boyfriend. Brad is the lead guitarist, sometimes songwriter, and backup singer for his older brother's band, but Brad would rather be creating his own video game. I loved how this audiobook has first person perspective that alternates between the two main characters, Marin Collins and Brad Osterhauser. It is great to be able to get into Brad's head in addition to the lovable heroine. Marin and Brad are so sweet together, and their attraction sizzles. The secondary characters are memorable, too, especially Marin's best friend.
The narration is absolutely perfect. Erin Mallon and Sebastian York are fantastic as they alternate chapters: Erin for Marin's chapters and Sebastian for Brad's chapters. The narrators perform with enthusiasm, nuance, humor, and gorgeous voices. Erin Mallon's voice is melodic and wonderful. Sebastian York's voice is sexy and perfect for a rock star with a nerdy side. They both infuse so much life into their performances, and they are excellent at love scenes.

Absolutely AMAZING
This book from start to finish had it all: Humor, great characters, hot scenes, great chemistry and fantastic narrators. I hung on every word as the story of Brad and Marin unfolded. It isn't your typical Rockstar romance, that is for sure, but it is so much more. The character development is amazing. Both MC's are complex and evolved and I adored Brad and his love for Marin. Marin is so skittish and hesitant for so many reasons. Erin Mallon always brings an A+ performance to any book and this was no exception. Sebastian York is not your typical Rockstar, but he works for Brad in this book. I loved it so much. It will be a definite re-listen in the future because it was such a beautiful story. Oh, and the songs that Brad wrote for Marin: They were absolute perfection and had me in tears. I would be that mans Starfish anytime.

What an amazing surprise, I got this audiobook as I love rockstar romance and I truly enjoyed it, Marin and Brad's story was such a great one to read, the narrators of course where phenomenal as always, bringing their characters to live and nailing all their emotions. I am looking forward for the next audiobook.

GREAT LOVE STORY!
Definitely a 5 star rating! Sebastian York did an awesome job narrating as did Erin Mallon. This was my first book by Lisa Becker. She did not disappoint.

Great story, characters, and narrators!
I really enjoyed listening to this one! Great story, characters, and narrators! Also loved that the epilogue mentioned most (if not all) characters in the story, not just Brad and Merin. This is just the first book in a series, but everything was tied up in a neat little bow at the end.
Narrators Sebastian York and Erin Mallon did not disappoint!
Starfish is a slow burn, rockstar romantic comedy written in dual first-person POV, recorded in dual narration. It's the first book in the Starfish series and ends with an HEA.
I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

Sleep like a Starfish
When Marin gets a new assignment she has no idea where that will take her. She was expecting something entirely different from the PR role she landed with Kings Quarters, a rock band that is traveling the country. As she gets to know the band though she comes to love her position as well as one of the band members even though she can't act on those feelings.
Brad enjoys playing in the band and the perks that come with that but when he first meets Marin he could all of a sudden care less about the groupies and after parties. He just wants to spend time with her. Now to convince Marin they can be together.
This is a fun and funny romance that takes time to get there. The characters are all likeable and I got wrapped up in the goings on of the group. Loved the side characters as well, Marin's bestie Grace is fun and loveable too. There is of course drama to deal with and family issues as well as underhanded moves by some. I really enjoyed listening to this book and highly recommend it.
Erin Mallon and Sebastian York are fantastic as always. Their timing is spot on and they brought out these characters. Loved listening to both of them from beginning to end.

Perfect balance of sweet and steam
This book charmed me with its perfect balance of sweet and steam. Brad and Marin share tender friendly moments, while desire burns in their blood until they can’t deny it anymore. And when they finally do the deed, it’s passionate and hot. Perfect balance. And there’s a lot of fun too! Hilarious situations, playful conversations, some stupid games, crazy side characters… there’s a good laugh here.
I didn’t buy the reason why Marin refuses a relationship with Brad though, nor the way they end it–don’t worry, there IS a HEA. They both look more like excuses than good reasons. But hey, even in real life, people make stupid decisions.
Two talented narrators perform the audiobook, giving life to the main couple, but also to an array of fun characters–you’ll love Grace, and Oliver.
Sweet, steamy, fun, and with a beautiful HEA. Why haven’t you read it already?

Slow Burn
Cute rock-star romance. I liked that not all of the band members were cliches. It's unusual for a rock-star romance to also be a slow burn. That made for a nice twist on the trope. Brad and Marin had chemistry right away and had so much in common despite their differences.
This was a very entertaining listen made even better by two rock-star narrators.

So wonderful
I missed doing a review and thought hey this one deserves another listen! Yes it’s that good!
I mean with Erin Mallon (who just may have the best male voice for a female narrator) and that most sexy voice of the unicorn SebYo as the amazing narrators call me baked because I am done and may need a while for reminiscing over this wonderful story.
Marion and Brad are such a sweet couple and the laughs and oh my you didn’t moments made for such an amazing time with this book. No wonder it was an award winning book Lisa Becker! And I became a new fan!

A Stellar Read & Listen
My very first book from Ms. Becker and definitely not my last. I chose this book when I listened to Viviana’s Audio Lovin Podcast and she was the guest author. I did not know what to expect in terms of writing style but the story had me hooked and I could not put it down. A slow burn love story that was done perfectly.
Brad and Marin’s relationship were the sweetest #relationshipgoal. And to be narrated by two of my favourite narrators Sebastian York and Erin Mallon were just perfection. They brought this story to life. Brad is a new favourite #bookboyfriend. Some of the things he did and said to Marin was so swoony, it gave me all the feels.
I highly recommend this book. One of the best romantic comedy I read and listened to this year.
