Publisher's Summary

The situation is dire. The Alliance is crumbling. Thine, Pleidian, and Human civilizations are each at a crossroads for their very survival. Captain Galvin Quintos has a plan to defeat the Grish and the far more dangerous Varapin. But to pull this off, he’ll have to go it alone, cut ties with the US Space-Navy, and become a true outlaw - a full-fledged pirate. That and say goodbye to his loyal friend Derrota, Admiral Block, and Captain Gail Pristy.

Feeling he may have just jumped from the frying pan into the fire, Quintos is forced to build new strategic alliances with the Pylors. But to have their help and access to their ragtag fleet of warships, he’ll need to prove himself. He’ll need to embrace ruthless marauding to acquire a priceless gem onboard the luxury starliner Pecunious. Looming, though, is an epic battle with the Varapin elite Vanquishing Shadow Strike Force - a battle that could very well dictate who will emerge victorious in this war.

Yes, Gavin will no longer have US Space-Navy assets at his back, but he will have Hardy, the Symbios, and one eight-mile-long Gorvian technology warship called Oblivion.

Great book

I really like the series, but i can't give the story 5 stars the amount a BS drama the main character puts up with is really getting old. The drama was on the annoying side as it was, but it seems to be escalating with him just ignoring it.

Gripping

Lots of fun with pirates, transporters, unique ships and interesting characters real and robots. The book is fast paced with non-stop action and battles. This series provides me with a fun non-thinking story. Makes a good get-away-from-it-all book.

The book is nine hours and twenty-five minutes. James Patrick Cronin does an excellent job narrating the book.

I only finished this because the performance was strong.

I liked this series in the beginning, but it seemed even the author was tired of the story by book 5. Between emo Symbios and a rose gold chrome colored robot (not pink), the ridiculousness was really amped up in this volume. But it was the little, and not so little, errors that really got to me. Things like referring to the tech being used by one group (to which said group didn’t yet have access) and hailing the wrong ship (one in the salvage yard, at least so far as the reader knew) are, I suppose, easy enough errors to make…but doesn’t anyone actually review for internal consistency before publishing books anymore?? Oh, and my father’s half brother’s daughter is not my niece. She would be my cousin. She would have been my cousin 200 years ago and I feel fairly confident that even 200 years from now (give or take) she would still be my cousin. Not niece. Oy vey!

Liked but

Crappy way to stop a book. Seriously?!?! Literally in the middle of a battle. Not happy at all.

Series Continuity

I love the book I love the story the only issue I have is that from book to book the details don't stay the same. I wish the author would double check what was written in the previous book (wouldn't have to go back any further) and keep the details the same or come up with a plausible reason why the detail changed. these Detail changes while annoying would keep me from listening to the book again.

It's an odd series, but very enjoyable

Maybe I just like the characters or especially the narrator James Patrick Cronin, but this series has an odd but enjoyable theme.

There are a lot of incredible escapes, from nearly impossible circumstances, with Hardy's help, they survive, it's just a fun ride until the next book.
