Publisher's Summary

Art galleries and casinos, mansions and brothels, billionaires and thieves — only James Patterson could create a triple-cross this decadent and suspenseful.

Imagine everyone’s surprise when Carter von Oehson, a sophomore in Dr. Dylan Reinhart’s Abnormal Psychology class, posts on Instagram that he plans to kill himself. Twenty-four hours later and still no one has seen him.

Release the hounds. A massive search ensues. But when Carter’s sailboat rolls in with the tide without him or anyone else on it, the worst seems to be confirmed. He really did it.... Or did he?

The one person convinced he’s still alive is his father, Mathias von Oehson, founder and CEO of the world’s largest hedge fund. But what Mathias knows and how he knows it would ultimately reveal a secret so damaging that it would be as if he were committing suicide himself. There’s no way he can go to the police. But there’s still someone he can turn to.

Dylan now finds himself wrapped up in multi-million-dollar secrets and danger and it’s going to take every bit of his wit, and the brilliant and headstrong NYPD Detective, Elizabeth Needham, to stay ahead of both his enemy...and his employer.

Disappointing

The change in narrators was key. Edoardo Ballerini did such a good job on the first two of this series, it was hard to get close to the story because of the new narrator. I think I would have liked the story more if Edoardo Ballerini had narrated it

not the best James Patterson

the story was okay but fairly difficult to follow. I love James Patterson's books but this one I have to say would not be in my top 10 for him. the narration was a little bland. just not a gripping story.

Announcer ends sentences with exhale. Couldn’t listen.

Terrible announcer. Couldn’t get through the first chapter. Will try not to buy a book with him again.

Performance

I could not make it past Chapter 17. The performance of the narrator to me is so poor. Markson over pronounced words and was way too breathy for me to even concentrate on the story.

I didn’t like it.

I had a hard time being interested in the story. I just did not connect I guess. It just seemed like it went on and on.

BORING

Boring. Save your credits and money. Don’t know who actually wrote this but it is convoluted and boring. The characters are totally forgettable and who cares. Time for Mr P to actually work and write his own stories again. That is if he hasn’t forgotten how
